Work Text:
The rope around your wrists tightened every time you pulled too hard, so you gave up trying to escape. Having your hands tied above your head didn’t help either, but at least they didn’t come up with the idea of keeping your feet off the ground. That could be painful.
The room was dim and lit only by old lamps, and although it had no windows, since you were underground at the moment, you suspected it was a day, considering how many hours had passed since you disappeared. Of course you didn’t have a clock with you to check what time it was, but you were getting one meal a day for lunch, so it had been two days.
Your captors had a set routine for the day; after giving you water as breakfast, they tried to draw information to you. When they didn’t succeed, they’d pin your arms above your head and you’d wait like that until lunch, after which they’d ask you questions again, the answers to which you mostly had no idea.
Of course they thought you were lying.
“I have no idea who it is. Listen, I just live in this place! I’m not working with Fett.” You spoke for the umpteenth time, and the masked man who questioned you only shook his head.
“Listen, I’m sure you have some family and you’d like to see them.” He spoke while simultaneously twirling the knife in his fingers, the light reflecting dangerously off its blade. If he had tried a little harder, it would have shined into your eyes. That would have been torture. “All you have to do is say something about Fett. Some weakness of his, names of people who don’t like him…. Anything that could be useful.”
You stopped the corner of your mouth from lifting it up because yes, you knew Boba’s weak spot. In fact, you were it. An ordinary woman not involved in the criminal world whose good heart and warm embrace made Boba take a chance and give this relationship a chance. You managed to keep it a secret and when someone put a blaster to your head and told you to follow in silence, it didn’t raise suspicion that you were leaving the most private room in the palace, aka Fett’s bedroom. You quickly realized that the people who kidnapped you weren’t very bright, and it would be a matter of time before Boba came for you.
You just had to be patient and wait.
“But I don’t get any benefit out of it.” You admitted honestly. “I live fine under his leadership.” Oh, and how fine it was! Fett cared for you as if you were his most precious treasure, and he probably blamed himself now for not being able to protect you.
The man got up from his chair and walked closer to you. He was quite tall, and although he had a scarf over his face that protected him not only from the sun but also from identity identification, you felt his warm breath on your cheek. He smelled of black tea… How much you would have given to drink something other than water! On rare, chilly evenings, you and Boba would sit together on the balcony, quietly sipping warm brews. They may have been two days, but you missed him.
“What would you say the benefit would be to your life?” He said, and you tilted your head as far as you could, noticing the blade coming closer. You coughed, trying to stay calm.
“I would say…” The knife was getting closer, and the wall prevented you from moving any further away. Your throat became dry, your heart beat faster, and if it hadn’t been for a loud sound coming from the side of the stairs that distracted your oppressor from his task, the threats might not have stopped there.
You weren’t familiar with guns, but you could have sworn it would have been the sound of a blaster. The man huffed and stepped back, and you breathed with relief.
“I’ll go check it out. Just don’t go anywhere.” He joked, and you rolled your eyes. As soon as he disappeared behind the door, you tried once more to break free of your bonds, but it ended up being pointless. So you waited, hoping that the sound of gunfire wasn’t just a random firing and help would come soon.
Your pleas turned out to be, well, quite listened to, as it wasn’t long before you heard more gunshots, followed by a moment of silence replaced moments later by the heavy sound of footsteps coming from behind the door. You stared at it with undisguised hope and when it finally opened, you couldn’t help but smile.
“Fennec, good to see you!"You exclaimed at the sight of the familiar helmet. The woman, as befits a professional, looked around the room for a threat before coming to untie you. "We haven’t seen each other in a while, how long has it been, two days?”
“Almost three.” She replied quietly, then cut the ropes. You groaned, finally lowering them down and massaging your wrists. She gave you a concerned look and you could see her frown at the sight of the bruises.
“It’s okay, I’ll put some ointment on it and they’ll be gone in no time.” You smiled and the woman nodded.
“I admire your enthusiasm. Anything else hurting you?”
“No, but I’m a little hungry.” You admitted.
“In that case, let’s go. Outside, everything should be ready by now.” Fennec moved ahead, and you followed her. You had a chance to look at the place where you had been walking blindfolded earlier and were glad you had not seen it before. This basement had nothing to do with hygiene. “Fennec is he… Is he here?” You asked, glancing at the body of the man leaning against the stairs who had questioned you earlier.
“Isn’t that obvious?”
You felt a shiver of excitement run down your spine. As soon as you stepped outside and the smell of fresh air hit you, you breathed in full and covered your eyes to get used to the light. It was empty outside and you found the answer to why a moment later; in the form of people handcuffed and lined up in a circle to make sure no one escaped. Fett’s men were guarding them to make sure no one escaped, and the king himself was talking to someone.
The man spotted you almost immediately and left the man he was talking to, to walk toward you as well. You wanted to throw yourself around his neck, kissing every last bit of skin on his body, but as soon as you took a step forward, you felt lightheaded. Lack of food and water left you weakened, and if it were not for Fennec catching you, you would be lying face down in the sand.
Boba quickly took you into his arms and held you whispering your name softly until you regained consciousness. As soon as that happened, you embraced him by the neck disregarding the uncomfortable armor. His one hand stroked the back of your neck and the other embraced you at the waist. For a moment you stood like that without saying anything, enjoying the feeling of safety, until the responsible part of Boba decided to take over and see if you were alright.
“Are you okay, princess?” He asked, and you nodded, staring through the black visor.
“I do now.” He grabbed your hands in his and lifted them higher, in the process noticing the bruises on your wrists. Not wanting him to worry more than he should, you lowered your hands and pressed your forehead against his in keldabe kiss, the cool helmet cooling your forehead. “I missed you.”
“I’m sorry it took so long.” He muttered, putting his palm to your cheek in an apologetic gesture. You wished he would take off his glove, you wanted to feel his skin on yours, but you knew it would have to wait until tonight. “I know you’re probably in shock, but you need to tell me what they wanted from you.” He said after a moment.
“They wanted me to tell them your weaknesses, the names of people who have something against you. I guess they thought we were working together, I don’t know.” You muttered. “But I didn’t tell them anything!” The man smiled under the helmet at your eagerness.
“I know, you would never say anything at me. I’m sure of it.” His confidence in you made you feel your cheeks blush. He pressed your forehead to his one last time and instructed Fennec to escort you safely home. “I promise to make it up to you.” He said on his way out, and you knew he was right.
Boba Fett is a very honorable man.
