The Half and Half Househusband

Summary:

Todoroki Shouto - now Bakugou Shouto -was a lot of things to a lot of people.

He was best friend and confidante to Izuku and Momo.

A brother to Fuyumi, Natsou, and Dabi.

‘Papa’ to Eri.

But most importantly, he was a self proclaimed househusband to one Bakugou Katsuki. Granted, Shouto wasn’t a traditional househusband… He wasn’t too good at cooking.

Or cleaning, for that matter.

Still, the title was his.

Work Text:

Todoroki Shouto - now Bakugou Shouto -was a lot of things to a lot of people.

He was best friend and confidante to Izuku and Momo.

A brother to Fuyumi, Natsou, and Dabi.

‘Papa’ to Eri.

But most importantly, he was a self proclaimed househusband to one Bakugou Katsuki. Granted, Shouto wasn’t a traditional househusband… He wasn’t too good at cooking.

Or cleaning, for that matter.

Still, the title was his.

”Papa, can we hurry up and go see Daddy now?”

Shouto looked up at the rear view mirror and smiled softly at his precious baby girl. She wasn’t much of a baby now that she was seven, but she still looked so innocent with her big doe eyes and her white hair pulled back into French braids.

It may have been silly at this point, but every single time he looked at her, he swore to himself that he would never let her suffer like he did growing up.

Like they all did.

He would rather die then let her become tainted like he was… Until he had met Katsuki.

”He’s teaching a class, Eri. It’s not like he’s going anywhere.”

”I know that, Papa! But you’re always so slow.

Shouto rolled his eyes and resisted the urge to scoff, instead unbuckling his seatbelt.

This made Eri squeal in excitement and begin fumbling with her booster seat.

In the time it took Shouto to get out of the car and run a hand over his own French braided hair, the backseat door had open and slam closed. And then there went Eri.

Skipping past him, through the parking lot and into the double doors of the school.

At least Shouto didn’t have to worry about her getting lost since this was easily becoming a regular thing.

As if to prove his point, by the time Todoroki had made it to the main office to sign them in and grab their visitor stickers, he could see Eri sitting on Miss Ashido’s desk. She was swinging her little Ugg clad feet and eating three pieces of Twizzlers at once.

”I really wish you would stop with all the sugar.” He sighed, grabbing the visitor log clipboard and signing both of them in. “You know how Katsuki is.”

”Blasty can lighten up! You’re only a kid once, ya know?”

”Yeah, Papa! I’m only a kid once.”

”You’re such a bad influence. You know that you’re the real reason Eri thinks she can back talk.”

Miss Ashido made a face as if she was half offended before turning away with a huff like she was actually doing work before they came in, “Fine, whatever. Take my niece away from me and see if I care.”

Obviously she did care, though, because she defiantly handed Eri an extra Twizzler while sticking her tongue out as they left and ventured further into the school.

Shouto took his time following Eri, never more than a few feet behind. The hallways were generally pretty empty besides a few rowdy teens skipping class, random teachers who were wandering here and there, and a few security guards who were inevitably going to catch the kids sooner or later.

Eventually, though, they made it to the boys locker room - only stopping to peek into Bakugou and Kirishima’s shared office.

Neither of them were in there, of course. It was the beginning of a class period. Still, Shouto had such a soft spot for seeing how their decorated office really spoke about each man’s personalities.

On one side of the room, there was a messy desk covered in water bottles and random tumblers of what Shouto could only guess was half drunken protein shakes. The only thing that Eijiro managed to keep clean and unburied was a picture tacked to the wall above his desk. It was from the first year that the two friends had gone to university.

Katsuki was standing in the center frowning, his red eyes staring daggers at whoever the photographer was. On either side of him stood Kirishima, Denki, Sero, of course Miss Mina Ashido herself.

Sero once told Todoroki that they used to call themselves the Bakusquad and that ‘til this very day, that was still their group chat name.

On the other side of the office, Katsuki kept his desk the complete opposite. Everything had a place - down to the pack of doublemint chewing gum that was sitting on top of a ridiculous sized jar of whey protein powder.

Much like his best friend, he only had a single framed picture. It was from seven years ago when they had finally got to bring Eri home.

It was their first day all alone. There was no more interviews and paperwork to fill out. No more doting Mama Bakugou or big sister Fuyumi to the rescue.

It was just two men and their baby.

Bakugou had snapped the picture right as Shouto was holding baby Eri away from him - looking absolutely horrified. There was baby vomit on his shirt and his neat bun from earlier in the day was a mess from Eri trying to play in his hair. But despite how chaotic everything seemed, Eri was giggling like it was the funniest thing in the world.

”Papa, I don’t get why you always stop in here. You know Daddy’s never at his desk when we come.”

”Yeah, yeah, I know. Papa is just being sentimental.”

”Well stop it!” Shouto let Eri grab his hand and drag him through the locker room which smelt like body odor and way too much Axe body spray. “Jeez, Papa, you know how much I hate the smell in here! Why can’t we just go through the main doors like normal people?”

Shouto mentally cursed out Mina in his head. He swore Eri was never this sassy before they had started showing up every week.

The two of them burst through the locker room door, out into the gymnasium. Instantly, they were assaulted by the gym speakers blaring out a monotonous “The FitnessGram™️ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues.”

Shouto did not miss this.

”Daddy!”

And just like that, Shouto’s own daughter had abandoned him for her other father.

How tragic.

Shouto barely held back his chuckle as Eri ran as fast as her little legs would carry her before smashing straight into Katsuki’s legs.

Katsuki, of course, didn’t even appear phased and even managed to pick her up as if she weighed nothing.

”And how did I know you were gonna show up, Brat?”

”You know how Papa gets so bored when you’re gone. That’s why he picked me up for school early.”

Was this what it was like to be betrayed by his own daughter?

Shouto couldn’t hear what Katsuki said back because the first beep went off, following by a stampede of footsteps.

Whatever, Shouto thought to himself, darting across the gym whenever it was safe to do so. Let them have their secrets.

”Baby!” Shouto greeted with a big grin, throwing his arms around his husband’s neck and kissing him shamelessly.

”Sho, you gotta quit showing up like this. Eri is borderline part of the goddamn class now. Might as well add her to my attendance roster.”

”Nah, Bakubro!” Kirishima laughed, keeping his eyes on the students. “She’s a honorary PE teacher.”

”Yeah, I agree! C’mon Dad, gimme your whistle! I’ll totally watch the class for you.”

Katsuki snorted, taking off his whistle and putting it around her neck, “Sure, knock yourself out, kid.”

-

Shouto spent the next half hour, clinging onto Katsuki. The two of them watched as Eri ran back and forth with the remaining students, beating most of them to the other side of the gym with every beep.

”What a bunch of fucking losers! Can’t even keep up with a seven year old! Honestly, what a joke.” Katsuki tsked, shaking his head in disappointment.

”Yeah well, not everyone is raised by someone of your physical prowess, Love.” Shouto paused. “That and not everyone is a seven year old chock full of candy.”

”Damn it! Was it that pink headed alien!? I told her to spot that!”

”She’s pretty adamant that being Eri’s aunt comes with candy rights.”

”Aunt?! The only fucking aunt my daughter has is Fuyumi and Auntie Inko!”

Shouto bit his lip and hid his face in the crook of Kats’ neck. He figured it was in his best interest not to mention that if Izuku’s mother was Eri’s aunt then that meant he was finally admitting that he saw Izuku like a brother after all.

-

“Daddy! Papa! Did you see that?!”

Shouto lifted up his designer shades to wave at where Eri was running around outside with Katsuki and Kirishima’s students, playing ultimate frisbee.

”I did! You’re doing great Sweetie!”

Katsuki snorted from where he stood on the edge of the field, his arms crossed “You’re so gay. When did you become the mom from Mean Girls?”

”What makes you say that?! Is the tracksuit too much?”

”No,” Katsuki’s lip twitched into a half smile. “But I’d say the matching Uggs were a bit much.”

Shouto pouted. He was a fan of their matching Uggs.

”Oh… Good to know.”

Kirishima stood next to them, pretending not to listen and resisting the urge to point out that Bakugou was just as gay as his husband.

-

Class had finally ended by the time Shouto and Eri had said their goodbyes and promised that they’d go straight home and not stop by Target - again.

(Katsuki didn’t hold his breath, though. He was honestly just waiting for another notification from their shared bank account, showing that another $200+ had somehow been spent because Shouto wanted to play interior decorator.

And no, Katsuki and his teacher salary were not salty whatsoever.)

”Yo, Kats!” Eijiro followed Katsuki into their shared office, already laughing at whatever he was about to say. “I totally overheard at least three of the girls ask Shouto about his hair.”

”So?”

”So they told him that he should start a hair channel on YouTube and that they’d subscribe to him. He said he’ll think about it.”

”Oh Jesus fuck,” Bakugou shook his head in disbelief. “They’re not the ones who are gonna be forced to film him when they get home every day. If I get home and he’s done some dumb shit like get a ring light, I’m gonna make everyone run laps until their fucking legs fall off.”

”How does it feel to play God?”

”We’re PE teachers, Shitty Hair. For eight hour a day, we’re as good as the Devil.”

The two men shared a look before laughing (rather manically, if you asked any of the students who were still getting dressed).

-

Much to Bakugou’s dismay, he absolutely did come home to many Target bags scattered everywhere and zero dinner being cook.

Not that it was ever being cooked.

Nope, he came home to Shouto standing on a kitchen chair, trying to hang up a backdrop and Eri sitting on the counter, sipping on a juice box.

Katsuki made a mental note to punish the class for inadvertently being the reason that once again, their little family was ordering takeout for dinner.

Again.

-

Katsuki absolutely made his students run the mile for the rest of the week.

After all, it was their fault that Katsuki was left eating instant cold soba for the third time that week.
