Azu slides down a crumbling wall, hugging her knees. “It’s my fault, Hamid. To let not one, but two people fall? And Sasha too? That’s on me. And I’m not sure how to live with that. If only I wasn’t this … this useless” She thumps her breastplate. “What’s the use of all this strength if I’m not strong enough to save my friends?” Silent tears drip down Azu’s face.
Hamid lays a shaking hand on Azu. “For all we know, they could have gotten here first. There’s still hope.”
Azu rubs her eyes. “Yeah. Not giving up on them yet.”
