Hamid is fine. He always has been and he always win.
———————————————————————
This fic doesn’t really have graphic depictions of self-harm, but that is what this is about, and is very much a vent fic. Please, be careful. I also think basically everybody is wildly out of character but I tried okay!

Summary
Usually the only things capable of dragging Grizzop into sleep are either exhaustion or a begrudging acceptance that he has to rest for his spells to replenish. Tonight, his adrenaline is miles ahead of exhaustion, and he’s not getting his spells back either way, since they seem to be in an anti-magic cell, so he’s awake when it happens–-one moment, he’s squinting into the empty monochrome beyond the bars, and the next, everything is…wrong.
Or: No one gets lost in Rome, but there are consequences to dragging your friends back through thousands of years–-namely, reliving quarantine over, and over, and over again.

Summary
Mostly when Hamid looks at Azu, he feels a sense of pride. Other times it's awe, like he can’t believe how lucky he is to be friends with her. But now he looks, really looks, and notices the broad expanse of her shoulders, the way the loose sleep shirt stretches tight against the muscles of her arms. He notices the swell of her breasts, shapely and gently splayed with gravity. He feels where his arm rests in the crook of her waist, a soft divet in the attractive curves around her middle. She’s statuesque; elegant and strong. Her dark eyes glitter at him from beneath long lashes, and faint traces of light gleam off of her high cheekbones. He can see the white of her tusks flush against the smiling curve of her mouth, which he’d always privately thought of as sort of heart-shaped.
"Well, who doesn't wonder at some point?" he finishes.

The veins are prominent and thick, and as Wilde runs a finger over them and feels the blood struggling through them, his mind whites out. Every thought leaves him, replaced by an empty sort of calm. Clarity. For the first time in two years, he knows with certainty what his future looks like, and that’s something, isn't it? A novel experience, to know what comes next.

Summary
He will wonder about it later, why he hadn’t looked down and noticed those same blood stains on his own clothes. Why he hadn’t noticed the way Azu’s gaze had drifted just the slightest bit down from his face when she’d told him people had been murdered.
But he’d been too focused on the others, so used to repressing the tightness in his chest caused by barely-contained panic that he’d brushed off all the signs.
Or: Hamid realises how close he came to dying. Spoilers up to RQG 212.
