Where did all the cake go?

Summary:

Marcus bakes cake and everyone else eats it.

Notes:

Just a little one-shot based off of a four panel comic of my OCs

Work Text:

In the kitchen of The Manor of The Island, a tall young man with hair like blood bakes.

He is baking for fun this time; teatime is over and the evening's meal will have fruit for dessert, despite complaints.

He bakes to treat the lady of the house instead.

-

The cake is done.

Marcus sets it on the kitchen island that Alice sits at, doling out a slice for her.

The cake is a rich chocolate, with moist layers of dense cake seperated by layers of creamy chocolate icing.

Alice's Favourite.

Sadly however, others with noses like dogs and appetites like blue whales yearn for it as well.

And the lady is not a possessive child. Not when it comes to food at least.

-

When Marcus turns to clean up the kitchen counter, the first of them comes running in.

Bearing a slim but masculine figure, they enter, quickly taking a slice before leaving just as quickly, just barely bestowing a weak smile upon the lady sitting there.

They have places to be and people to care for, there's no time for greetings and pleasantries.

Their beloved is pregnant and craving chocolate, and who are they to refuse them?

Their other lovers are at their home dealing with matters of the household.

They are the only one who can care for them, the only one there to do so.

At least until the others arrive closer to the due date.

-

Soon after, the second arrives.

With a curvaceous figure and long, midnight hair, the head doctor of the grounds' hospital wing saunters in.

She nods to the small blue haired form sitting at the table, noticing the cake in front of her in the same breath.

"Cake!" she whispers out in a gasp, smiling a blinding smile.

Despite the long days seeing the way the world has hurt those that should have remained innocent, there are still reasons to carry on. This is one of them.

She takes three slices with her coffee refill.

One for herself, and two others for her husbands.

A lawyer and a teacher, they need that little bit of light too.

She leaves with a lighter heart, looking forward to seeing her husbands.

-

A mess of smiling golden hair peeks his head in.

He is the last of the 'Cake Stealers', as he himself so dubbed them.

He skips in, ever joyful, or at least seeming that way, and, scooping up a plate for himself, doles out two more slices.

As he does so, he hums to himself under his breath, "One for me, one for Na-chan."

His errand done, he leaves, of to find his other half.

-

When Marcus turns back to the island, snapped out of his cleaning trance, he sees only one last slice left on the platter, Alice finishing off her slice.

"More cake, Marcus."

Marcus sighs and turns back to the counter.

He won't be baking another cake, not right now, but he does have some cookies...

I hoped you liked it :)
