They had loaded their instruments into the van already, and were just taking some time to relax.
Relax, being sitting on top of the van and smoking.
"Shit," mumbled Ed, fumbling to light his cigarette. His long fingers were not as skilled doing things other than playing guitar and keyboard.
Dave and Drew were sitting a bit too close to each other, holding hands. Drew buried his face into Dave's jacket, and Dave rested his head on top of Drew's dark locks, releasing a contented sigh.
Joe took a long drag from his cigarette, staring straight at the sunset and trying to swing his legs nonchalantly.
"Calm down, mate," Ed exhaled smoke, "otherwise you'll kick the van windows straight out."
"I'm trying to, but I can't with them doing that over there," Joe tried to explain, his face red.
Dave looked up, his blue eyes bright behind his glasses. "What? I can cuddle with Drew if I want to!"
"I would kiss him right now if he didn't have that damn sucker in his mouth," interjected Drew.
Dave, who was sucking on a cherry lollipop instead of smoking, winked at Joe. Joe looked away, his face on fire. Ed laughed good-naturedly.
The crisp breeze blew through the band's hair, the sunset tangerine-and-lemon bright. Sounds of loud rock music echoed from the stage, but the wind and chirping somehow masked it in a paradox type of way.
Dave only had eyes for his beautiful Drew, whose dark hair was iluminated hazel in the light. The filtered light gave a sharp contrast to Drew's chiseled face. As Drew stubbed out his cigarette, Dave pulled the cherry lollipop out of his mouth and stuck it in Drew's.
"Ew, gross," Ed whined as he stubbed out his own cigarette.
Oh, bloody hell, I'm gonna die on top of this fucking van!" groaned Joe.
Drew giggled and sucked on the lollipop before throwing it down the side of the van. Then Dave kissed him full on the mouth. Drew pulled away and whispered, "You taste like Dreamland cherries."
And Ed laughed, because Joe had buried his faced in his hands, the sunset was beautiful, they were smoking, and his friends were stupid.
