Since when were you girlfriends??

Summary:

When Bow and Adora go to rescue Glimmer, they're surprised to see her and Catra not as enemies, or even friends, but as something else...

Notes:

This was made for the first day of the "Happy birthday, Glimmer!" event hosted by tippenfunkaport on tumblr! the prompt was "fist to face sparkles", i really enjoyed writing this, even if it's shorter than what i usually write! i have an idea for tomorrows prompt as well, so I'll try to write that tomorrow as well!

Work Text:

Bow and Adora walked out of the ship into the Velvet Glove, their stealth mission in motion. Or at least, it would be in motion, if the alarm wasn’t already going off.

“Wait, that wasn’t us, right?” Adora questioned.

“I don’t think so, no… We didn’t have any resistance coming in, and nobody’s nearby, which means… Oh no.” Bows face paled.

“What? What's wro- wait… you don’t think Glimmer is trying to escape herself?” Adora’s face grew into a worried expression.

“Thats the only explanation I can think of, since i doubt that horde prime has fire drills.”

“Well, no time to lose then. Lets go! Entrapta, change of plans, stay with the ship” Bow and Adora nodded in agreement as they took off into horde primes mothership, Entrapta barely acknowledging the change of plans as she got to work tinkering with the ship.

The two friends fought their way through countless horde prime clones, desperately searching for their missing friend. They approached what seemed to be a window, seeing exactly one of the people they were looking through on a lower floor.

“GLIMMER! GLIMMER, CAN YOU HEAR US!?” Bow yelled, trying to get her attention. Her lack of any reaction told him that either the glass was soundproof, or she was too far away to hear them.

“GLIMMER, WE’RE HERE TO HELP! Wait, is that… Oh no.” Adora’s face paled as she saw a very familiar figure sneaking up behind Glimmer as she knocked down a horde clone standing guard in front of a door.

“GLIMMER!!!! LOOK OUT!!!! IT’S CATRA!!” Adora yelled, pounding on the glass as Bow tried to find a way to signal her in his bag of arrows. Catra got closer and closer to the queen, who still hadn’t noticed her. Before Bow and Adora could do anything, Catra pounced on Glimmer and…

Gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Bow and Adora’s jaws shot through the floor into the empty vacuum of space. They were unsure of Catra’s allegiances, but this was certainly not on their list of potential candidates. It looked like the area they were in was an observation area, as Glimmer and Catra’s conversation could be heard over a nearby speaker.

“Catra! There you are! I was getting worried.” Glimmer said, relieved.

“Pfft, what, think some dumbass hordak lookalikes could take me?” Even without seeing it, you could practically hear Catra’s smug smirk.

“Hehe, good point! Alright, cat chow, you ready to help me apply some fist to face sparkles?” Glimmer’s hands lit up in pink sparks.

“I thought you’d never ask, princess. Escape pods are this way!” Catra unsheathed her claws and pointed into the door that the clone was guarding. As she started to walk forward, Glimmer grabbed her hand to stop her. Confused, Catra turned around, only for Glimmer to pull her into a deep kiss, to which Catra immediately reciprocated.

“Alright, let's do this.” Glimmer said as they gave each other a confident smile and walked into the next room.

Bow and Adora stood there, still completely shocked at what they just witnessed. A couple months ago, Catra had attempted an attack on bright moon, and now she was dating Glimmer. Their minds short circuited trying to figure out what the hell happened between their abduction and now, but their thoughts were interrupted when a horde clone stepped into the hallway, weapon in hand. They quickly remembered their goal, and went to help the two escape.

A few days later, after apologies were given and accepted, and they were all back on Etheria, Adora finally asked the big question on both her and Bow’s minds.

“So uh, guys? Since when were you two dating??? I’m happy for you two, I just wasn’t expecting it!”

Glimmer seemed to blush slightly at the question, but before she could say anything, Catra stood in front of her.

“We kept poking fun at each other until at one point Sparkles here got fed up pushed me against a wall and started making out with me, things just kinda went from there.” Catra said bluntly, a slight blush covering her face, as Glimmer’s blush deepened.

“CATRA!!!” Glimmer yelled, indignified.

“What, it’s the truth!”

“Sometimes I question how I fell for you of all people.” Glimmer joked, a fond but exasperated smile covering her face as she shoved her head in her hands.

“It’s cause i'm hot.” Catra shot back with a cheeky smile, leaning against the shorter girl.

“Can’t say that wasn't a part of it.”

Adora gave them a smile and left the couple to their banter to regard Bow, who was standing nearby and working on the ship.

“Did you get all that?” Adora asked, pointing a finger back at the two, who were now making out.

“Yep. I’m happy for them!” Bow responded in his usual upbeat attitude.

“Same here! And, between you and me, it doesn’t surprise me much that that’s how they ended up together.”

“Oh me neither, that totally tracks considering them.”

“WE ARE RIGHT HERE!!!” They both yelled, hearing the entire exchange happening only about 10 feet away. Bow and Adora just started laughing, Glimmer and Catra soon following suit. Entrapta just stood in the doorway, who was recording notes into her tape recorder, describing the entire situation as fascinating.
