Chapter Text
Meeting Sawamura Eijun was avoidable.
Koushuu was capable of coming up with five completely valid excuses to bail himself out whenever Miyuki sent him invitations for some random party he was throwing. His senior of two years’ parties weren’t your typical, run-of-the-mill seen in western media. The best description for them was an indoor picnic where the comforting nature is replaced with the energies of young adults; rowdy and, in some occasional cases, a fucking shithole to be in.
It was a breath of fresh air, however, when Koushuu found himself in such a shithole situation. He had somebody to bond with over the useless things two other friends of Miyuki’s were debating about. The famed Sawamura Eijun - someone he’s heard time after time from Miyuki, whom the latter describes every time as loud and headstrong when retelling an event. (“Okumura-kun, I think I’ve told you about Sawamura-kun - y’know the one that goes super energetic and stubborn at times, yeah that guy! He and Kuramochi did a stupid stunt during the weekend.”)
Everything that his older friend told him was true. But there was something more to him once Koushuu got past the two adjectives that Miyuki used, and suddenly Eijun couldn’t be pinned down under words like animated or rash. It felt like he was a planetary object orbiting around another with a greater gravitational pull. Koushuu didn’t know what it was then. Hell, the word “infatuation” never even crossed his mind.
He can’t seem to pull himself away when they have to say goodbye at the end of the night. (“You know we can exchange phone numbers, right? It’s not like it’s the end of the world wolf-boy!”)
Flash forward to the present time, nearly three years later. Okumura Koushuu sits by the floor of his apartment, staring outside his window as the night skyline greets him with its bright lights twinkling and a passing police siren reverberating in the air.
He’s just come to a realisation.
Falling in love with Sawamura Eijun was inevitable.
A moment like this should be joyous, he thinks, full of butterflies because what if Eijun feels the same? Or what if he doesn’t? But Koushuu thinks daydreaming is a luxury, and he’s all out of money at this point, all because of a date. Their graduation. (“We should go to the overlooking after the ceremony Eijun. I think it’ll be a fun way to close the university chapter.” “Why’re you thinking everything’s gonna end when we graduate you grumpy emo! Think about the playlist we have to make instead, you gotta make sure we add tons of existential bangers!”)
Koushuu’s heart is in his hands, and he’s running out of time.
