Painful betrayal

Summary:

After a new danger strikes Beacon Hills, the pack decide that Stiles has to be pushed out for his own safety. Seemingly betrayed by his friends, and even his own dad, Stiles is told to leave Beacon Hills. However, Brett decides to take in Stiles and he enrolls at Devenford Prep, before leaving for College.

Bit of an AU set around Season 5 with the dread doctors alive. Stiles will have no magic or any special powers in this, absolutely normal human

Notes:

This is similar to a lot of works here, because I've read a lot of Stiles is pushed out of the pack genre. I always wanted one where Stiles is normal, where he completes school, graduates and has a life. I also hope not to have Stiles as too powerful in these, and would like any comments on story direction. It's my first ever fanfic so pls forgive any mistakes.

Chapter 1: Kicked out

Chapter Text

"Pack meeting at 8, be on time."

Stiles had been feeling pretty low after the Chimera attacks and the recent Donovan saga, with Scott having sided with the Chimera over his own best friend. Still, even before that, he wasn't regularly being invited to meetings and he was a bit surprised he was called to this one. With his dad finally out of hospital, he didn't look forward to lying about why he was going out. As he went downstairs, he realised his dad was gone and decided to start his jeep. The pack was meeting at Derek's loft. Derek, who had returned to the pack after the recent Chimera issue and retaken his position as Pack Alpha.

He was not looking forward to this pack meeting at all. Since the Donovan incident, Scott refused to talk to him. He called him a murderer and distanced himself from any attempts at contact. Lydia refused to acknowledge his presence even more than usual. Isaac told him that while he didn't hate Stiles, he couldn't hang out. Derek and Peter were just as distant as ever. Liam, who had once been attached to Stiles refused to look at him, instead hurrying after Scott. Even Malia didn't talk to him, which was insane, considering he was her anchor.

At school, they refused to acknowledge him. He had few friends outside the pack, and even his attempts to talk to Danny were frustrated after Jackson told him to stay away from him. It seemed like the pack did not just want to show that they were mad, they wanted to make his life a living hell. They must really hate him.

"Hey, sourwolf," Stiles said, as he entered the loft. It looked the same as it always did, and yet, it never felt more distant. Derek's face soured as he stared at Stiles and told him to sit down. The somber faces of the rest of the pack greeted him, except for an awfully smug Theo. His father was also sitting in the loft, and that truly surprised him.

"Stiles, we are all here to discuss you," Derek began. Stiles was surprised and horrified, but in a way, he was not surprised. He had seen this coming, ever since Theo had turned them against him. "We feel that it is bad for you to stay within the pack. It is aggravating your issues and making you more aggressive. I have talked to your dad and while he has agreed not to arrest you for this one case, we feel we can not have you within the pack."

Stiles reeled. He could feel his pack bonds breaking, and a darkness settling within him. A darkness that reminded him of the Nogitsune, of the Void, and he shuddered. Before he could reply, his dad took over, "Stiles, you are no son of mine. I thought I had taught you better than to murder people. I can not find a body or press charges, but I'll be damned if I let you stay within my house."

Stiles blinked away tears, but it wasn't over. Isaac started ranting about how Stiles had been so careless, so weak. That he'd attacked and killed someone and not for the first time. "I wonder if you're still possessed," Isaac finally concluded with a grim look in his eyes. Theo was looking happier than ever, delighted in his victory. The rest looked angry at Stiles, and it broke him.

Isaac's word though, hurt him more than anything. He'd heard enough. "Well then, I guess I'll leave."

With that, without looking back, Stiles walked out and ran. Forgetting his jeep, he just took off, not wanting anyone to see him cry. His own friends and family had decided that he was a monster. On the word of one lying Chimera, they had abandoned him. Hysterical, he remembered his meeting with the Chimera when his dad was in the hospital where he'd outlined his plans for a pack. Only loyalty to Scott had prevented him from joining it. Even despite hating Theo, he could admit the man was attractive and his offer to be his mate and his packmate at the same time was something that would have appealed to him, if it didn't mean killing Scott. For the first time, he regretted his decision.

Running, he started hoping that Theo would kill Scott anyway. And he was horrified at his thoughts. He didn't hate them. And yet, after all this, he was starting to hate them. He didn't want to see them again. He dreaded even running into them at school. But then again, what school would he go to anyway? His dad refused to even have him in the same home, and there was no way he could get his stuff back.

Tears falling from his eyes, he was well into the forest when he ran into a solid body.

A voice suddenly said, "Stiles, what happened? What are you doing here?"

For a second, his brain was addled and he couldn't speak. He couldn't even recognise the person in front of him. A few moments later, his brain began working again, and he recognised Brett Talbot. Liam hated Brett, and Stiles had more than understood his view. He knew he shouldn't speak to someone from another pack, but he couldn't stop himself from saying, "They kicked me out. My dad, my pack, I have no- nothing left."

Brett looked pained and Stiles wondered whether he'd kill him. They had no real enmity, outside petty school grudges, but wolves were dangerous. He started backing away, but Brett suddenly latched on and held his hand.

"You're coming with me. They may have kicked you out, but we can't let a pack human just roam out on his own. It's dangerous with all the chimeras out."

Despite his fear, Stiles did not want his pack to know. Or his ex-pack, he thought. Finally he squeaked out, "Promise me you won't tell anyone. Kill me, take me prisoner, but I don't want to see them again."

Brett laughed and for the first time, Stiles relaxed. "I won't tell anyone. You're not a prisoner, Stiles. Come on. They may kick you out, but we'll take care of you. I promise you don't need to see them again."
