Chapter Text
Dolores was proud of her gift. Sure, it was tedious at times but it truly was a miracle that she was able to hear so many things at once. Whether it be someone's wishes or just gossip that no one was supposed to hear, she enjoyed it.
Except for the last two weeks that is.
She loved her little brother, she really really did, but considering Camilo was the reason that she had gone without sleep for nearly 16 days was beginning to drive her absolutely insane. It wasn't just little whispers that he would emit, it was full-on conversations with himself, planned confessions and professions of love to the walls that he never actually ends up executing the next day like he always promises himself he will. She swears that she's just about to go up to you and tell you his feelings yourself if it meant she could finally have a good night's sleep.
But even then, she allows it to continue. For what? She's not quite sure, but as a victim of unrequited love herself, she didn't want to end up doing something that could possibly ruin Camilo's chance with you, -despite the fact that it was so painfully obvious how infatuated you were with him. Doesn't he know his constant advances had you head over heels with him already?
Apparently he doesn't, because yet again, in the dead of night, she hears him. God he's even worse than Luisa's eye twitching. She silently curses her parents, for passing down every single aspect of their love life into Camilo's.
He's absolutely infatuated, and it is terrible .
If only he would finally take the step and actually tell you.
Sooner or later though, he quiets down, the feeling of sleep creeping up his spin and the constant banging at his head in frustration finally making him pass out, and in turn, so does Dolores. Finally .
The next day, Dolores eagerly follows the sound of her brother muttering and whispering to himself, hoping to whoever is listening that for once he actually goes through with the countless hours and confessions he's wasted. And for a moment, she thinks he'll actually go through with it.
But no.
No, no instead when he sees you he panics, he panics and forms into someone else, and runs away. He runs away.
Dolores groans.
Back to the drawing board.

Antonio can't help but smile anytime he sees you. For the longest time, he had spent time with you and Mirabel in the nursery, ultimately seeing you as a surrogate older cousin, and when he found out that you and his brother were head over heels for each other? He was ecstatic . Camilo's had plenty of small little flings or “girlfriends” that were really just one-sided crushes that he'd play into for too long, but he'd never been as in love with someone as you. He really saw it as a chance to have you as an older sister .
And his brother was ruining said chance. At every step of the way, he was ruining it. Either by spying or through the word of his animals, Antonio had watched his brother talk his way into oblivion, and then wuss out halfway through, with the excuse of his mom needing him for something. (Which she usually did , but that wasn't the point.)
It was absolute torture.
He knew that his brother wasn't that oblivious, he couldn't be. There was no way that he couldn't see how you very much reciprocated his feelings, and that you very much didn't even need to be asked twice to jump at the chance of being in a relationship with him. From your first meeting -that Antonio was told about by the rats- you were whipped, and everyone could see it. Mirabel, tia Julieta, his mom, his dad, Dolores, quite literally everyone.
Everyone except Camilo.
Antonio sighs as one of the mice chatters in his ear about yet another failed attempt, and he watches from afar as your wide smile fades into a frown when Camilo is finally out of sight. Clearly you were having trouble as well.
… Hold on. No… Would that even work?
Hm…
Antonio smiles.
Of course it would work. He'd just need to acquire his dear sister's help.
