That was the phrase Will Solace had heard at least a hundred times this week. Accompanied by two pairs of wide, innocent eyes that weren’t fooling anybody.
Behind him, a familiar voice spoke up, low and flat as always. “They look… spirited.”
Will turned. Nico had appeared in the doorway, his expression somewhere between curiosity and wary.
“That’s one word for it,” Will muttered, biting back a laugh. “You should’ve seen them climb onto the cot. Like squirrels.” Nico snorted. Will always love making his boyfriend laugh.
