hiyori was woken up by the sunlight illuminating from the small window of his bedroom. he sits up as the shackles on his leg make a small clanking sound. he checks the clock beside him to see that it was still to early for anyone in the house to be awake.
he just stays in his bed for a little longer, staring into the pitiful garden that was in the backyard. he was surprised when he even saw the garden and its terrible state, neither the gatekeeper nor godfather seemed like the type to even enjoy nature.
after long hours of pleading nagisa had finally agreed to let hiyori tend to it, there wasn’t much be could do however due to the lack of materials and resources which nagisa offered to buy. it wasn’t like nagisa was all that heartless even if he wasn’t the same as he was before…
speaking of nagisa, hiyori had just heard the sound of him knocking on the door before he entered the room. “..hiyori-kun you’re awake..” he smiles as he walks to hiyori’s beside.
”i woke up awhile ago don’t worry!” hiyori smiles as well. he takes a small glance at nagisa, the other’s eyes still as empty as they were when he came back.
hiyori pitied him, he didn’t know what nagisa endured during the months that he was missing. when he came back he was a shell of the boy he once was. the light in his eyes and his childlike innocence all gone and destroyed.
he didn’t like it one bit, it wasn’t his nagisa.
”…that’s great… i’ll go prepare breakfast..” nagisa says as hiyori nods. he places a kiss on hiyori’s forehead before leaving the room.
it would be a lie to say that hiyori didn’t hate being held captive. he has gotten used to it though, it wasn’t as bad as the first few months.
maybe the fact that he was being chained up and that he couldn’t see anyone other than the members of adam, was terrible. but he doesn’t mind anymore, he knows it’s his fate.
he does occasionally wonder how jun is doing, and sometimes he hopes that his family is doing well without him being there. hiyori was nothing but a bother to the people around him so maybe they were glad he’s gone.
he just sighs and makes his way to the bathroom to wash up, after all nagisa would be back with breakfast later.
once he’s done he returns back to his room and lays on his bed once more. there wasn’t much he could do either than play with mary, read a book, tend to the garden and occasionally have a chat with ibara.
despite being nagisa’s, he never dropped by much other than during meals and before bedtime. he hated it sometimes, he didn’t like that nagisa never gave him attention even though he could be with him at any point in time.
his love for nagisa changed over the months he stayed here, it grew from love to something more of dependency. after all if nagisa never cared for him then he’d starve to death and die.
he knows just how much he’s valued in his house. the gatekeeper finds no worth in him, he can tell the man dislikes hiyori’s presence and finds him unworthy to love someone like nagisa. it sucked for sure but he just ignores it.
in his moments of being lost in his thoughts, he doesn’t notice nagisa entering the room with breakfast. it was simple, pancakes with some fruits and a cup of tea. he knew hiyori liked it though.
”nagisa-kun… can you feed me?” hiyori asked while giving the latter a puppy eyed look.
”…is hiyori-kun being needy today..?”
”hmph! you barely even spend time with me nowadays… is it that hard to want some attention now?” hiyori frowns as nagisa places a hand on his cheek.
he begans to crease hiyori’s face as he apologises, “…i’m sorry hiyori-kun.. i’ve been busier these past few weeks…”
he ends it off with a kiss on the cheek for hiyori before beginning to cut a small portion of the pancake.
“open wide..” nagisa says which makes hiyori smile as he took a bite of the pancake.
”mm~! it’s delicious like always,” hiyori hums.
“..i am glad you like it.. have another bite..” nagisa smiles as he fed hiyori another slice.
by the end of it hiyori had finished his entire meal, a rarity nowadays. he had been eating smaller portions than usual for the past few weeks.
”..i have to go wash the dishes.. stay here for a bit..” nagisa says before leaving once again.
hiyori frowns, he dislikes how nagisa just comes and goes after a short period of time. if it was the old nagisa he knew that he’d stay with hiyori for as long as the blonde wanted.
he didn’t necessarily hate the new nagisa, he just doesn’t like how nagisa lost all the warmth he once had. the light in his eyes had disappeared too. it wrecked hiyori’s heart every time he looked into them, they were nothing but a pit of emptiness.
he still blames himself, if he was faster than maybe nagisa wouldn’t have left with the gatekeeper. there was no use blaming anyone else when he knew he could have stopped it.
however he had to come to terms with reality, the angel that was the old nagisa was gone. now he belongs to the adam who bit the apple without leaving anything left for his dearest eve.
yet adam still treasured eve and shared knowledge in other ways. he wanted to make his own eden for her when he was exiled from paradise. and hiyori appreciates that.
no one could understand them better then how each other did. they were just outsiders looking in to them.
even if eden didn’t have the the blue sky surrounding it, it had brick walls covered in green paint.
even if eden wasn’t as lively as it used to be, it still inhabits people and animals.
and even if eden didn’t have the pure love of two people it once had, it still had nagisa and hiyori.
or at least what was left of their love.
