Chapter Text
I'm Percy Jackson, and I'm a demigod, the son of Poseidon to be more specific.
Yes, the Poseidon. God of the sea, sea storms, earthquakes, the creator of horses and father of half the population of cyclops on existence.
Through my veins, even if my blood is red, there is the ichor of the gods in it. Hidden from the mortal eyes, hidden so I don't become a god.
Look, I could lie and say all beautiful things about being a demigod. I got pretty good at lying.
But.
To be honest, being a demigod sucks when you are not prepared for this type of life.
Scratch that. Being a demigod sucks, even if you are prepared for this life, it sucks and it's gets worse before it gets somehow nice. Don't get any ideas, because then it gets horrible.
I know what you're thinking. "You are a demigod? Oh my goodness, that's crazy! How does it work? Can you perform a miracle? Are you like inmortal?
The answer is: Yes, I'm not sure yet, no and was Jesus inmortal? Then there is your answer.
To sum it all, it's just a bunch of weird things happening around your life, life treathing events, where you can litteraly die just by saying no, basically death, death and more death that's what can define a demigod life.
Just read any Greek mythology and you'll have all the answers of what my daily basis can be.
And you know what's funny about this whole drama? That part, being a demigod, isn't the most weird thing that has ever happened to me. I mean, yeah sure almost dying on a daily basis it's not to be considered normal but when you're a demigod that's your everyday cake.
Let me just tell you this tragic life of mine.
Everything started when I was just 8 years old, four years before I even knew the gods where a real thing
Gods above, If only I remembered this back then. Everything would been more easy or at least easy to explain.
I was walking on a park, chasing pigeons to try to give them some love. (you know, the normal stuff you do when you see something fluffy and cute) I was trying really hard to catch one and give them some pets on their feathers.
After a while I realized that I was already far away from where my mom let me play. And nothing around me seemed familiar. I was for sure at the other side of the park.
I was scared, trying to see something or someone that could take me back to my mom, but with the tears and fear nothing was clear. It was a beautiful day, with no clouds on the sky and even the perfect weather for a walk.
Families laughing and playing on every corner of this park, and some couples walking around enjoying the day.
Yet I was afraid because my mother wasn't here to see all the beauty of this place with me, and I felt really small, like how I would feel when Smelly Gabe was with me in the same room.
I was about to cry, awful and ugly, and start calling my mom between screams. When something catched my eye.
In front of me, maybe a few trees away, there was a pretty woman, pretty like my mom, pretty like the flowers in the park. She had hair, that glistened like honey under the sun, the skin was really pretty with no scar that I could see, and it seemed to be soft at the touch.
The prettiest thing about the her was the dress, a white dress that make her appear like one of those fairies that used a flower as a dress. But that didn't catch his eye, no, it was the man who was getting closer to her.
Bigger than her, with a smile on his face that even Percy was getting uncomfortable of seeing and he was away from the man. The fairy was shaking the hand but the man keep getting closer to her.
Now, Percy had this ugly stepfather, who smelled like rotten eggs and all the disgusting things in the world, his name was Smelly Gabe (Actually that was a nickname, but to Percy that was his real name).
Sometimes, his stepfather would do things, like hit the wall really hard or throw his beer across the room, even say mean things about her mom that would make her react similarly to how the fairy was reacting now.
She was slowly stepping back from the man, trying to appear as small as possible, cautious as if not trying to anger the man, she had a little smile on her face that was trembling at the corners.
But all that Percy could see was the way her hand was trembling slightly. How her other hand was grabbing her purse tightly as if trying to protect herself with it.
Just like mom.
So, he did what everyone with morals would have done in his place. He hides his fear the best he could, puts a pout on his mouth, a plan already on his head and started running towards the pretty woman with a cry on his mouth saying.
" Mommy!" Both, the woman and the man turned around to see him running towards them," Daddy said that you'll come in five minutes, but five minutes were forever ago!" He hugged her waist wasting no time on his play, while given the man the coldest glare he could muster," Why was mommy late?"
The pretty woman looked between the two of them, in the face of the man who lost of interest and chose Percy as the safer option “ I'm sorry, baby, mommy was busy showing this good man how to arrive safely to the police station"
A lie. A big fat lie.
The man in question grimaced at them and started to walk away from the two of them, not even saying goodbye. Murmuring something about women with kids being a burden.
Percy wanted that man to have his leg broken. Or at least for him to have pigeon poop on his head.
Percy didn't let go of the fairy waist until the man vanished completely from his sight, still that uneasiness from earlier didn't left his body.
Now he could see the woman properly, since he wasn't distracted by the ugly man.
Her face was pretty, like how his mom describes the princess in the fairy tales, she had this look on her eyes that make her look older than she was, the same look his mom had when looking at him.
She looked pretty and young, and of course, the first thing that came out of his mouth, after doing all that drama was.
" Pretty" The fairy giggled at his honest response, and Percy felt the back of his neck getting hot with shame.
The pretty woman smiled and caressed his cheek with warm hands, “What you did a moment ago, was a very brave action young hero"
Percy smiled at her, not knowing what to do or say to the pretty woman who was smiling down at him. Even when the word “hero” made him feel weird.
But now the fairy was looking at him with something similar to pity on her eyes.
“ I see that you have a powerful core, yet fragile as it seems”
These words were lost in his memory, every time he tried to remember the moment, he would get a headache and will stop trying.
“ You are finally here dear” The fairy eyes and tone gained a happy light on it. She addressed someone behind Percy's back.
"I'm sorry for being late love, mother wanted me to run a few errands for her" A deep yet smooth voice it's what Percy heard from the back of his head.
Percy turned around only to see the most pretty boy of my whole life. Even if he hadn't seen a lot of pretty people.
Like seriously, the prettiest one, he made Percy remember of the warm feeling he sometimes gets.
Warm, secure, loved.
It made Percy feel warm all over his body. It made him feel like the most lived person in the world.
He seemed like the angels the church had painted on its walls. Percy had been counted time on a church, but the boy was the same as those angels.
He stared at Percy straight into his eyes and smirked at him. As if he could see present, future, and past at the same time.
“ Love, what's this little dolphin doing so far away from the water? ” He joked she giggled at his words. A meaning behind the joke lost for Percy.
“He saved me just a few minutes ago, he pretended to be my son, so a man could get away from me” They shared a look, a private conversation between them. The man smiled, an almost wicked glint to his smile.
Percy just smiled at the fairy, not sure of what to do or say in this situation.
“Did he now? I guess the hero in you can't be hidden, uh?” The pretty man said, crouching, so he could be at Percy's height, “Now tell me, where is your mom little' prince?”
Percy could feel the warm spreading through his face he totally forgot about his mom!.
However, he said, “ I don't know where my mom is, I'm lost. And well, the fairy didn't liked the man close to her, and mommy said that when a woman says no then you should leave her alone".
The eyes of the pretty boy sparkled with something behind them, something he didn't have a name for, not yet.
The fairy again caressed his cheek with tender hands. The warm feeling traveling from his stomach to his whole body.
Percy closed his eyes with pleasure. Feeling the wind being warm but not hot, the birds were chirping happily on the trees.
Thanks to that Percy missed the glances between the couple. The way the pretty boy eye's clases for a second red and the woman's face gained for a moment a golden shine.
“ Little prince, you have a golden heart pumping red blood, too big for your mortal body" Percy opened his eyes, unsure of what the man said, since he didn't understand him.
But the fairy spoke this time. Distracting him from the question he was about to ask “ Come dear, your mom is waiting for you”
Percy followed them, the fairy girl was walking next to us, humming a tune for a song I didn't know, yet felt somehow familiar.
The park was filled with families and pets of all types. But this time Percy could appreciate the beauty since he was getting closer to his mom.
Everyone was enjoying the day. Yet Percy noted no one was looking at their direction.
Why? He was sure the pretty boy and girl would make a show for the people who were at the park.
But no one took a look to them.
It was almost as if they didn't exist.
Weird. But Percy though that maybe that was probably because the couple used to visit this park quite often, to them for be a normal sight.
Finally after what felt like forever Percy could see his mom at the end of the park.
She was talking with some strangers, moving her arms at her waist height. Probably asking them for Percy's whereabouts.
He was about to rush in her direction when a hand on his shoulder got his attention.
The pretty boy was smiling down at him, his curly hair seemed so soft, that Percy wanted nothing more than to touch it. Something in the back of his head told him the curls would be soft as a cloud.
"Before you go, I must warn you little prince. The future it's going to be cruel with you, your life may not be what your mother wanted you to have” He was staring into his eyes yet Percy felt like the boy wasn't looking exactly at him “ I would love to give something else as a thank you gift. But I believe this may be the best for you”
Now Percy was curious about this "gift" the angel would give him.
“Be aware of this blessing Perseus Jackson and made the fates be gentle with you”
The next thing was something Percy can't never forget, no matter what he does. The eyes of the boy eyes were of all the colors Percy's knew. They were green, they were black, they were pink and then they were yellow just like that and then they were red.
He was still smiling when he said the next words, that would mark his life for ever.
“Your heart is too big to hold just one love. You'll find the love of your live when the time comes, yet when my blessing hits you we may see if it's true love. If not then a lover crueler than the rest may come and win over this flame” Percy was confused, but the fairy cleared his mind a little.
“ This is a warning of what your future will be. Don't be afraid, my husband's blessing is different from this”
Percy didn't get none of the fairy words. Too busy trying to get the meaning of the words. Words Percy didn't get until years later.
“In thanks on saving my wife I may give you my blessing. You shall shine more than any mortal, you shall be like the prince you were meant to be, women and men alike will fell in to your charms, this Perseus is my blessing for you" And then Percy was kissed on the forehead.
He felt a warm spreading through all his body, different from the ones you get when you are embarrassed, different than anything else. It was like something was changing from the inside
“ I'll see you when the right time comes little prince” Were the last words Percy heard from the pretty boy.
“ I'll try to help you during your quest little one” Said the fairy as a goodbye.
The next thing Percy was aware of was that he was falling backwards with the screaming of my mother closer than before.
Before darkness devoured everything around me.
Percy didn't knew back then what really happened. He didn't realized the problem behind the blessing the kiss is.
Percy woke up the next morning, his mom worry sick about him. She was crying as soon as he wake up, so Percy began to cry too, because his mom was made for smiles and warm, no one should make her cry, not even Percy was allowed to made her cry.
She didn't asked him where he was the whole time, nor did Percy told her what he did.
Because everytime he tried to told his mom the truth, he kept getting distracted and then he would told her a different story.
That was when Percy was 8 years old. When things where easy and not bitter like now.
Sometimes he wishes he could go back in time and told that pretty god to respectfully fuck off from his life. That a sincere "thank you" was more than enough or a reward.
A wish too good to be true. Because just like his mother, he lives to play with the mortals live life.
