Work Text:

Beatum (n.): happiness, blessing, fortune

Johnny scanned his eyes over the 3D model displayed on his computer screen. If the client approves, then they can start on the building construction soon. He quickly saved the file and sent it to Yuta to ask for his input. He was just about to start a new sketch for another upcoming project when his cell phone buzzed.

kun♡

heyy (05.44 pm)

just letting you know that you don't have to pick me up from the campus later (05.44 pm)

i'm going straight to ten's place, don't worry i'll make it home before dinner (05.45 pm)

have fun at work♡ (05.45 pm)

Johnny chuckled, replying with a string of emojis to let Kun know that it's fine with him.

Ever since Guanheng was born two years ago, Lucas and Ten's house became everyone's favorite place, especially Kun. Kun really, really, loves his nephew. Guanheng is a tiny adorable baby, a little mischievous but a darling nonetheless. Everyone seems to bask in the cuteness of the toddler, and the tiny human managed to get everyone wrapped around his little pinky.

Sicheng—just like, basically, everyone—fell in love at the first sight with the baby, and now he's heavily pregnant, ready to have his own little Guanheng. With Sicheng ready to pop anytime soon, Yuta has been working at home more often, and Jaehyun has to man the café by himself since Kun had resigned after getting the callback to teach at the campus. Johnny often came like he always used to, doing his work on his favorite corner, and keeping Jaehyun company since the alpha has to work with two new workers now.

Overall, life has been quite good, at least for Johnny and Kun. Johnny's career is stable, he’s rising through the ranks in his firm, and he thoroughly enjoys his job. Kun teaches at the university now, and Johnny could see that the man loves his job so much. He still makes music on the side, working under a pseudonym that none of his students know. But Johnny felt a little pride knowing that he knows it, and that Kun often asks for his opinion on his songs, so Johnny got to have the first listen of every Kun's songs before they got released.

Their relationship is going much stronger. They finished the last session of their couple therapy with Dr. Lee at the end of last year, and Dr. Lee had been so proud, saying that Johnny and Kun were two of his most successful patients.

The awkwardness between Johnny and Kun is basically non-existent now, and Johnny was thankful for that. He promised himself he's going to stop being a dick, he's stopped now, and he'll never go down that route again.

They’ve bought a new apartment for a fresh start; this time they shared the same room and kept one of the spare rooms as Kun's studio and Johnny’s home office, while keeping the other room as a random storage room. They developed a new routine which involves taking either morning or night walks a few times a week, Johnny driving Kun to and from the campus whenever he's free, and, of course, visiting Ten's place.

Kun basically lives half of his weeknights in Ten's place, coddling his nephew. Johnny hasn't visited in a week, so maybe he could offer to pick Kun up from Ten's place today.

When he was finished with work, Johnny drove to Lucas and Ten's apartment immediately. Lucas was the one who got the door, greeting him with a hug before letting him in.

Johnny could spot Sicheng on the couch talking with Ten, while Doyoung and Kun were sitting cross-legged on the carpeted floor. Little Guanheng was on Kun's lap, playing with his toy car.

Kun perked up immediately upon smelling his husband's scent filling the apartment.

"Johnny!"

Johnny grinned, hanging his coat on the coat rack before approaching the group.

"Hi guys," Johnny smiled, taking a seat on the floor next to Kun.

“Hi, hyung !”

"Is Yuta going to pick you up tonight, Sicheng?" Johnny asked.

Sicheng hummed, rubbing his tummy, "Of course."

"Are we going home now?" Kun asked, wrapping his arm around the little boy, seemingly reluctant to leave.

"Not if you still want to stay," Johnny shrugged, reaching a hand to hesitantly pat Guanheng's hair.

The toddler looked up at him, blinking his little eyes. Guanheng merely grinned at him, but made no move to approach him, still comfortable in Kun's embrace.

It's sort of a joke between the group. Guanheng is a little scared of Johnny. Everyone said it's because Johnny is tall and big, and an alpha on top of that, so the kid might be a little overwhelmed and intimidated. But to Johnny's defense, Lucas is also big and tall but Guanheng is not afraid of his own dad. Well, Guanheng used to cry every time he saw Johnny, but now the kid doesn't, so Johnny took it as a win.

"You know what, let's just go home. I still have to cook dinner," Kun said, nudging Johnny.

"We can still stay if you want," Johnny assured him.

"It's fine. I can still visit here anytime. Let's go."

Kun, albeit reluctantly, picked Guanheng up and gave him back to his father.

"Say goodbye to shushu ?" Ten said to his son.

Guanheng nodded, waving his tiny hands, "Bye, Kun shu !"

"And uncle John?"

Guanheng shyly waved, "Bye bye…"

Kun squealed, picking the kid up to attack him with kisses before setting him back down on Ten's lap.

"Alright, we'll be going home first. Thanks Ten, Cas. Doyoung, Sicheng, send our regards to Jaehyun and Yuta!" Kun smiled as he put on his coat.

Once they're home, Kun worked on dinner right away, while Johnny showered first. After dinner, Johnny volunteered to do the dishes while Kun showered. When he's finally done with all the cleaning, Johnny retreated back to their bedroom, sighing as he finally laid down on the soft mattress. Kun came out of the bathroom soon, humming to a song as he buttoned up his pajama top.

Johnny scrunched his nose when he smelled Kun's scent. He still smells wonderfully like freesia as well as his usual floral scented soap, but he still carries the baby smell, probably from Guanheng, and Sicheng too since he's pregnant.

"You still smell like Guanheng and Sicheng," Johnny commented when Kun slid in next to him.

"I do?" Kun frowned as he sniffed himself.

"Yeah. Well, you spent a lot of time with them today, so it must be it," Johnny shrugged as he turned off the bedside lamp.

"Should I shower again?" Kun asked.

"Nah. Just come here. Let's sleep. I don't mind it, babies smelled nice anyway."

When Johnny came home the weekend of the next week, the apartment smelled a little foreign. He came inside, took off his shoes, hung his coat on the rack, and when he went to the kitchen, he saw Kun there. Laughing. Cooking. With a toddler on his hips.

"Johnny! You're home! A Heng, say hello to Uncle John?"

"Hello!"

Johnny blinked his eyes and waved his hand back on instinct.

"Guanheng's staying over for a while?" Johnny asked, dropping his bag on the couch.

"Mm hmm. Lucas and Ten are having their date night. Anniversary. I offered to babysit A Heng for a night. They'll pick him up first thing tomorrow morning," Kun chirped as he stirred something in the pot.

"Y-you don't mind, don't you?" Kun asked worriedly when Johnny didn’t reply.

"Ah, no, no. I'm just a little surprised," Johnny assured him.

Surprised… and nervous.

Guanheng never really stayed the night with them. Whenever Guanheng came over, Kun stayed with the baby all the time because Ten usually just dropped his son at their place only for a couple of hours. Johnny is far too awkward with small creatures. So, imagining the baby staying for 24 hours, Johnny expected that there would be times when he had to handle Guanheng by himself  and truthfully, he's not confident.

"John? Can you… can you hold him for a minute? I need to finish cooking this,” Kun said distractedly, bouncing Guanheng on his hip as the toddler reached over to tug on his hair, causing Johnny to break out of his reverie.

“A Heng, baobei , shushu has to cook dinner. Here, stay with Uncle John. Just a minute,” Kun said, turning around.

Johnny had his eyes open wide and he froze as suddenly the small toddler was thrusted to his hands, while Kun casually resumed putting more things into his pot and stirring the content vigorously.

The toddler blinked at him with his big beady eyes, and Johnny awkwardly kept the kid at a good distance from his chest, just letting the toddler hang mid-air.

Kun looked back and had to stifle his laughter. Johnny seemed very awkward with the small kid, and Guanheng looked a bit uncomfortable.

“Wait a minute, you two. The dish is almost ready,” Kun smiled as he started to ladle the soup into three different bowls.

“Johnny, just hold him comfortably. He’s not Simba, you know,” Kun chuckled when he glanced back to see Johnny holding Guanheng like he was a foreign object.

Johnny felt his cheeks reddening, and he slowly brought the baby closer, not knowing how to hold him properly.

“Just lay him against your chest,” Kun supplied.

Johnny awkwardly laid the baby against his front, and thankfully, Guanheng was still docile and calm despite being uncomfortable. Guanheng held onto his neck, peering up at him curiously.

Kun moved quickly to set the table, and Johnny let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding when Kun picked Guanheng up from his hold, finally.

“Go take a seat. A Heng, let’s eat dinner, shall we?”

The toddler cheered when he was finally in the arms of his favorite uncle, sitting excitedly on Kun’s lap, waiting for Kun to finish blowing on the soup.

Johnny watched the two curiously, a little amazed at how easy it seems for Kun to handle Guanheng. Kun always boasted that he’s Guanheng’s favorite uncle (which is quite undebatable). Johnny sometimes wondered where Kun learned how to do it. Is it just an omega’s natural instinct? Did he learn from someone? Or is he just inherently amazing the way he is?

A chuckle left Johnny’s lips when Guanheng snatched the spoon from Kun’s hold, a bit impatient.

“Is it good, Guanheng?” Johnny asked when Kun snickered and took the spoon back from the kid, pinching his cheek in retaliation.

Guanheng beamed and nodded.

“Better than what your Phaw made, right?” Kun asked playfully.

The toddler nodded again excitedly, already opening his mouth again.

Johnny smiled unknowingly. In the future, when Kun and him are ready for their own kid, will he be seeing this kind of scenery often? Kun seemed ready to welcome a child into their current family of two. In fact, Kun had said it in the past, he really wanted to have his own kids. Maybe Johnny had to direct the question to himself: will he ever be ready to have his own child?

“Are you teaching today?” Johnny asked as they ate their breakfast one morning.

Kun shook his head as he swallowed his food, “No. I have two days off this week. I was thinking of going to Dr. Moon, for my bimonthly check up. I haven’t seen him since my last heat.”

“Today?”

“Uh uh. Dr. Moon’s usually available on Tuesday and Thursday, remember? And my day off happened to be today, Thursday. So yeah. I’m going to the hospital today.”

“But I can’t accompany you,” Johnny furrowed his brows.

Kun chuckled and patted his hand, “It’s okay. I used to go there alone all the time. It’s just a simple blood test and some check-up as usual.”

“But I’ve promised I’ll always accompany you,” Johnny insisted.

Kun rolled his eyes, “Oh, Johnny. It’s just a simple check-up. You have to go on site and meet a client today. Yuta can’t come because of Sicheng, right? You can’t just skip this meeting. I’ll be fine. Besides, you’ve been coming with me all the time, missing one visit will do no harm.”

“Ugh, alright. Just give me a call if there’s anything. I’ll try to pick it up.”

“I’ll just text you. I’ll be okay,” Kun assured him.

After Kun’s near-death accident two years ago, Johnny had changed a lot. They went through couples’ therapy, Kun finally joined the hormone rehabilitation program, and they spent their heats and ruts together comfortably. Kun has to visit Dr. Moon every two months to evaluate his condition. So far, his health has improved greatly after quitting suppressants for good throughout his last five heat cycles, so he’s really excited to see how far better he has gotten.

Kun had visited the lab to get his blood sample taken right after breakfast (because Johnny insisted on driving him to the hospital). He went back to their apartment afterwards, and returned to the hospital after lunch.

He smiled, greeting the receptionist as he waited for his turn. Once his name was called, Kun entered the office, smiling at Dr. Moon.

“Kun! Good to see you again. Do you bring the test result?” the Ob-Gyn smiled widely.

“Yeah. Here it is.”

Dr. Moon received the envelope from him, taking out the document and examining it closely.

“Hmm, your kidney function has returned nearly close to normal. It’s good. You’re still taking the supplements I gave you, right?”

“Yeah, I still took them this morning.”

“Good. Your liver function has widely improved too. Maybe two or three more months, and the number will go down back to normal. Hmm, but wait.”

Dr. Moon flipped the papers, highlighting a few columns with his pen.

“How are you feeling lately, Kun?”

Kun blinked his eyes.

“Feeling?”

“Yes.”

“Uh… well? I mean, there’s nothing wrong with me... I think. I feel great. Is there anything wrong?”

Dr. Moon quickly shook his head.

“Oh, no no. It’s just…”

The main trailed, sniffing the air.

“Do any of your friends have kids? Or have you been spending time with a pregnant omega?”

“Ah, yeah. A friend of mine has a toddler, and another one is 9 months pregnant. Why? Do I smell weird? My husband said I smelled weird.”

Dr. Moon laughed and nodded.

“Does that mean something is wrong with my body?” Kun asked, smelling his armpit insecurely.

“No, no, no. Well, but this month, I want you to go to the lab again, and get tested for more things. There’s nothing wrong, I just… want to be safe. You can visit me again maybe in… a week? We’ll have a sonogram too, and maybe a few additional exams.”

Kun furrowed his brows worriedly, “There’s really nothing wrong, right? I mean, uh…”

Dr. Moon raised his brows when he saw Kun fiddling with his fingers anxiously.

“What’s wrong Kun?”

Kun felt his cheeks warming and winced, “Umm… I remembered you telling me back then, as a consequence for my long-term suppressant use, it impacted my fertility. Uh, I haven’t really talked about it with my husband, but, um… I really wanted to have kids. I know I’m almost thirty, and with my condition, it’s probably going to be harder for me to conceive. But I just want to know if it’s possible for me to have kids, naturally, I mean. Or, um, do I have to consider other options?”

Dr. Moon smiled, “I understood your concern. That’s why I issued all these additional tests. Statistically speaking, I hate saying this, but yes. It’s a little harder for people with your condition to conceive naturally. A lot of them had to go through IVF and artificial insemination with assisted hormone therapy. For you, you’re still in your hormone rehabilitation program, so I can’t give you any hormonal medication for fertility improvement. We can only hope for some luck that a natural conception will happen. It’s still possible. But there's always options. After you finish your rehab program, we can start a pregnancy plan if you'd like to.”

Kun sighed in relief, “Thank you, Dr. Moon.”

“Well, don’t forget to take the tests, and see you again next week?”

“Yeah, I’ll see you again next week.”

“How’s the doctor visit?” Johnny asked as he watched Kun on the vanity, putting on his night toner.

“Dr. Moon said my lab results are improving. He wants me to get tested for a few more things and to return next week, though,” Kun said, glancing at the mirror, looking at Johnny who looked deeply concerned.

“More tests?”

“Mm hmm. He just wanted to make sure of things.”

“But there’s nothing wrong, right?”

Kun chuckled, noticing the shift in the scent inside the room.

“Don’t be agitated like that. I’m improving! My kidney function is almost as good as normal now! Dr. Moon just wanted some more blood tests and a sonogram next week.”

“Wait…. Next week?”

“Uh, uh. Why?” Kun asked, closing his bottle of toner before walking to the bed.

“I have to go to Jeolla for an upcoming project,” Johnny frowned.

“Then just go,” Kun shrugged casually as he slipped under the cover.

“But I’m going to miss your appointment again!”

“Oh, Johnny! It’s fine, it’s just a normal visit like today. Stop worrying, you don’t smell nice when you’re worried,” Kun chuckled as he laid down, pulling Johnny close to him.

He felt Johnny nuzzling his neck, inhaling his scent, and calming down immediately.

“Sorry. And one more question: Do you visit Ten or Sicheng again today?”

Kun frowned, “No? Why?”

“You smelled different again.”

“Do I? Should I shower again? I mean, there are a lot of pregnant women in the hospital today. I must’ve carried their scents,” Kun said, pulling back a little.

“Nah, it’s okay. Let’s just sleep?”

“Mm hmm. Night, Johnny,” Kun smiled, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

He felt Johnny murmuring against his neck, “Night, Kun.”

Kun laughed as he bounced Guanheng on his arms, the toddler shrieking cheerfully.

“When’s your appointment with Dr. Moon?” Ten asked.

“Later at 2. Why?”

“Just asking. So, Johnny’s in Jeolla?”

“Yeah. Since Sicheng can pop anytime soon, Yuta had withdrawn from all out of city and out of country works. Johnny had no choice but to go to Jeolla because there’s no one else available.”

Phaw ! ‘M up!” Guanheng squealed when Kun lifted him again.

“I know, baby, you’re up. You love your shushu, don’t you?” Ten cooed at his son.

Guanheng beamed before giving Kun’s cheek a wet smooch.

Kun laughed, smothering the toddler with kisses in return.

“You and Johnny should have your own kids soon. Between me, Doyoung, Sicheng, and you, you’re the most natural with kids. I’m pretty sure once Sicheng’s child is born, you’re going to snatch the favorite uncle title again.”

“Shush, don’t say that, Doyoung will be angry,” Kun laughed.

Ten chuckled, “No, but really. You’re really good with kids. Have you talked about kids with Johnny?”

Kun shrugged, “Not really. I don’t know. We’re just done with our couple therapy, and we’re still enjoying the changes in our relationship, I guess. And plus, Dr. Moon had told me before, it’s going to be hard for me to conceive with my conditions. Johnny and I never use any protection during our heats and ruts, and I’m banned from taking any hormonal pills since I’m on my hormone rehab program. I’ve had five cycles with Johnny, but nothing happened, so…. Yeah. Maybe kids are out of the picture for the time being.”

“Oh, Kun…”

Kun chuckled and smiled at Ten, “Hey, it’s okay. I’ve… I’ve slowly accepted the reality. I think I’ve already come to terms that I’m probably infertile, and Dr. Moon just doesn’t have the heart to tell me that to my face. It’s okay. Besides, I can still play with A Heng, and Sicheng’s soon-to-be-born son. And Doyoung too, if he ever decided to have his own kid. I’m every kids’ favorite uncle, remember?”

Ten frowned. He knew, between the two of them, Kun was actually the one who really wanted to have a kid of his own. He’s just unlucky in that his relationship with Johnny was quite dysfunctional at the start, and he had to suffer some consequences from his suppressant use. Kun has the best mothering instinct among them, and Ten is upset with the fact that Kun may not be able to have his own child.

“Don’t be sad, Ten. Oh, you know what? Maybe Lucas and you should start planning for A Heng’s younger sibling. That way, I have more babies to babysit instead of having my own,” Kun said playfully.

“Hey!”

Kun moved his legs restlessly as he waited for his turn to visit Dr. Moon. His hands are clutching on the envelope containing his most recent blood tests. He could’ve taken it out and read it before giving it to Dr. Moon, but it’s literally no use since he didn’t know how to read and interpret those numbers.

When his name was finally called, he immediately rushed in, smiling nervously at Dr. Moon.

“Hi, Kun. Have a seat. How are you feeling today?” Dr. Moon greeted amicably, receiving the envelope from him.

“I'm a little nervous, but I’m doing well.”

“That’s good. Let me read this for a minute, yeah?”

“Yeah, yeah, sure.”

Kun watched anxiously as Dr. Moon read the document slowly, nodding to himself as he did so.

“Do you have any abdominal discomfort lately?”

“No.”

“Sleeping disturbance? Decrease or increase of appetite? Weight gain, or loss? Fatigue?”

Kun tilted his head, trying to recall any incidents regarding that.

“No…? I’m doing okay.”

“Frequent urination? Muscle ache? Nausea? Vomiting?”

“No. Is there anything wrong with the result?” Kun asked worriedly. He’s really not having any complaints on his daily activities, so he wondered why Dr. Moon asked these strange questions.

“No, no. You’re doing really well. When’s the last time you have any sexual intercourse with your husband? How often do the two of you engage in sexual activities?”

Kun felt his cheeks reddening at the sensitive questions.

“Uhm, a few days after my last heat. Which means… A little over a month ago. And uh… I won’t say we did it, uh, very often. At least not lately, because we’ve been busy with work.”

“Do you notice any changes in your… normal physiologic functions after your heat? Aside from the ones I’ve asked?”

Kun shook his head, “No. I’m really not feeling anything. To be honest, I feel healthy, and much better ever since I started the rehab program. I’m really not feeling sick or anything. Why? Does the blood test reveal some other conditions?”

Dr. Moon chuckled at Kun’s panicked expression, “Kun, calm down. The reason I asked for these additional tests, and why I also asked you for other symptoms, is because I have suspicion of you being pregnant.”

Kun choked on his own spit immediately.

“How come? I mean, aren’t I, uh, y’know, infertile?”

Dr. Moon shrugged, “I never said you were. I said, you have chances of becoming one, and it’ll probably be more difficult for you to conceive compared to normal omegas. But I never said you can’t. And I think you just beat all the odds here.”

Kun stammered for a second, unable to form any words.

“Look. See this number? That’s your omegan hormone levels. That hormone is only released by pregnant omegas. Your hormone levels are above the minimum amount required to diagnose someone for pregnancy. The other reason for increased omegan hormone levels are either heats or cancers, but you're definitely not on your heat and I don’t think you’re having cancer when your other tests showed normal value. I also issued a test for tumor markers, and just look at this number. It’s very low, close to zero. That means, chances are, you’re having a baby, not cancer cells.”

Kun leaned back against the chair, processing the words slowly.

Him?

Pregnant?

That’s… absurd.

“Come on. Lay down on the bed. I’ll do a sonogram just to make sure, okay?”

Kun shakily walked to the bed, climbing the stool to lay down. He let Dr. Moon lift his sweater, watching as the man slathered some gel on his flat tummy, shivering a bit at the coldness. Dr. Moon took the sonogram probe, gliding it against his abdomen as he looked at the monitor.

Kun doesn’t understand what the man was searching for. Everything was just a vague mishmash of black and white for him.

“Ah, there it is! Do you know what this is, Kun?”

All Kun saw was a blurry grayscale image resembling an abstract painting.

“Uh… no?”

Dr. Moon chuckled, using his left hand to move his mouse and hover the cursor above a certain area.

“This is called the gestational sac. It’s the little pouch where your baby will be growing. Since your last intercourse and your last heat was around over a month ago, I would predict that you’re still in your fifth or sixth week. It’s best for you to return in a month's time, when the fetus is a bit more visible.”

“Wait, wait. Wait. I don’t understand. I’m… I’m pregnant?”

Dr. Moon chuckled again as he printed something.

“Yes, Kun. There’s a small cell currently dividing inside of you, waiting to grow. Here, I gave you the ultrasound picture for keepsakes. I bet your husband will be happy to see this!”

Kun stared at the picture in his hand in total confusion. He’s glad that Johnny is still in Jeolla, so he won’t have to break the news.

It’s completely weird. It almost didn't make sense. He was supposed to be infertile.

Johnny and he had never talked about kids before. Sure, he did tell Johnny once or twice in the passing that he'd love to have a kid of his own—especially during his outbursts before they reconciled. But Johnny never voiced out about wanting to have a kid. They were still focusing on building a relationship between them. Kun's not sure if having a child at this time is really the best decision.

To be honest, Kun was excited. Happy. Elated, even. But still, nervous. What if he was the only one who wanted this unborn baby?

How would Johnny react to this? Will he be as happy as him? Will he be scared? Will he be mad?

At this kind of time Kun regretted not using any barrier contraceptive method. He's definitely banned from taking any hormonal pills, but there's still condoms that's fairly cheap and easy to use. And condoms have a pretty successful rate at preventing pregnancy as well. Because Kun had always thought of himself as infertile, he never bothered asking Johnny to use protection when they have intercourse, especially since they mostly only had sex when they're in heat and rut. They were usually out of it during that period anyway, so it never crosses Kun's mind to use any form of contraception.

Kun sighed. For now, he'll keep this a secret from everyone. He needs to figure out Johnny's stand on having kids first.

" Kun! Oh, Kun. Is Johnny there? He didn’t answer my call!"

Kun frowned when Yuta suddenly called him instead of Johnny.

"Johnny? He's showering. Why?"

It's still fairly early in the morning. Why did Yuta call?

" Sicheng… Sicheng went into labor. Can you… can you and Johnny go here? Please?"

"Oh my god! Okay, okay, I'll tell Johnny to hurry up. Can you send us the location of Sicheng's hospital?"

" Of course, of course. Oh, thank you so much, Kun."

"Anytime, Yuta. We're heading there as soon as possible."

Kun ended the call and a message from Yuta came immediately, stating the address of the hospital.

"What's wrong?" Johnny asked, appearing from the bathroom.

"Ah, you're done! Great! Sicheng went into labor. Yuta is panicking. We should go to the hospital soon," Kun said.

"What?! Okay, okay, let's go. Wait, let me change into something more appropriate."

Johnny changes into a shirt and pants before grabbing his car keys, and soon they're out of their apartments to go to the hospital. When they arrived, Yuta looked like he's about to faint.

"Johnny!"

"Yuta! How's Sicheng?" Johnny said as he gave his fellow alpha a hug.

Kun peeked inside the room, seeing Sicheng weakly waving his hand.

"Kun ge . Thanks for coming."

"Oh, Sicheng. How are you feeling?" Kun asked, holding his clammy hands.

"Awful. I just had a contraction, so I'm fine now. Just tired. But once another wave of contraction comes, I'm going to be in pain again. But it's okay."

"Oh, you're such a strong person, Sicheng. Hang in there, okay?"

Sicheng smiled weakly and nodded, "Thank you, ge ."

Kun watched as Yuta went back inside the room, fussing over his mate. A smile went to his lips at the sight.

Sicheng was clearly hurting and uncomfortable, and Kun felt like crying seeing his friend writhing in pain. But in a matter of hours, Sicheng will welcome his own son. Plus, Yuta was always by Sicheng's side, calming him down.

Kun can't help but wonder, will he be experiencing the same thing in a few months? Him in a hospital bed, going through immeasurable pain, and having Johnny constantly by his side?

His wandering thoughts had to be cut off when Sicheng's contraction was getting very frequent and very strong, and the midwife ushered them all out. Shortly after, Sicheng was wheeled into the delivery room.

"Hey, good luck, man," Johnny patted Yuta's back as the man went to follow his mate into the delivery room.

Kun sat at the hospital waiting chair with Johnny by his side. Doyoung and Jaehyun came soon after, apologizing for being late since they had to close the café first. Ten, Lucas, and Guanheng came last.

The delivery took at least one and a half hours. When Yuta came out, he was sweating and crying, and if it weren't for Johnny and Jaehyun holding his back, he would've collapsed on the floor already.

"Is the baby already born?" Ten asked excitedly.

Yuta nodded, "Y-yeah. He's healthy. Crying very loudly. He weighed 3150 grams. He's tiny, and oh… Oh my god. He's everything."

Everyone cheered, taking turns to pull Yuta for a hug and congratulating him for being a new father.

"They're treating Sicheng up now. The nurse said we can see the baby in the baby's room if we want to."

"Oh, please! Let's go see the baby!" Kun said excitedly.

Yuta led them through a series of hallways to the perinatology room. Kun sighed when he saw through the giant glass, just rows and rows of cots and incubators, filled with tiny little cute babies.

A nurse perked up from inside the room and signaled Yuta to come in. They all watched as Yuta walked to a certain cot, allowing the nurse to pick the baby up and settle the small bundled creature into his arms.

Yuta smiled and walked to the glass so his friends could see his son.

Kun wanted to melt at the sight. The baby boy was so tiny!

Yuta came out a few minutes later, a smile on his face.

"Nakamoto Shotaro. His name is Shotaro."

"Shotaro? That's a cute name," Doyoung squealed.

Kun walked closer to the glass window, one hand unknowingly going to his stomach.

There are babies wrapped in pink swaddles and blue swaddles. Kun can't help but wonder. Will he be having a daughter? Or a son like his friends?

Kun smiled fondly as he watched Sicheng coddle his newborn son.

"Isn't he cute?" Sicheng cooed when the baby let out a gurgle.

"He's adorable," Kun sighed.

"Do you want to try holding him? I'm giving you the privilege of holding him first," Sicheng said playfully, which earned a protest from Doyoung.

"Well, if I have to trust my son with anyone then it's Kun," Yuta shrugged, this time earning a protest from Ten since he's technically the only one with the experience of raising a kid.

Kun laughed as he approached the bed, "Can I?"

"Sure, here," Sicheng smiled.

Kun carefully took the swaddled baby into his hold, cooing immediately when the baby blinked his eyes curiously.

"Oh, hello there. Shotaro, hmm? I'm Kun shushu ," Kun cooed, bopping the kid's nose softly.

Shotaro let out a toothless smile, causing everyone to squeal simultaneously.

"See? What did I say? Kun is a kid magnet. He's going to be all of our sons' favorite uncle and it's unfair," Doyoung pouted.

"Well, go make your own kid then," Johnny teased him.

Jaehyun rolled his eyes, " Hyung , please, if anyone should start having a kid now, then the person is you."

Johnny merely shrugged.

Kun stole a glance at his husband, biting his lips nervously. Johnny doesn't seem interested in having a kid.

"I want to try holding him too!"

Kun broke out of his trance when Doyoung whined next to him.

"O-oh, yeah, sure," Kun said, carefully transferring Shotaro to Doyoung's hold.

To everyone's surprise, Shotaro cried immediately.

"Hey, oh, Oh God. No, no, don't cry please," Doyoung sighed.

Sicheng laughed at the sight, pointing at Kun, "Kun ge, try holding him again!"

Kun chuckled, taking the baby back. He gently rocked Shotaro in his arms, and the baby gradually stopped crying.

"See?! Kun ge is a baby's magnet! Really, ge, Johnny hyung and you should start having your own baby soon!" Sicheng beamed.

Kun smiled awkwardly as the others started joining in to compliment him. He looked down to the baby in his arms, staring at the cute little creature who was blinking back innocently at him, then he directed his gaze back to Johnny who looked nonchalant.

Kun really doesn't know what to feel.

"Sicheng's son looked so much like Yuta," Johnny chuckled as they entered their apartment.

Kun hummed, "I think he's going to grow up handsomely. His parents had good genes. He's blessed."

Johnny laughed and nodded at the comment.

Kun watched as Johnny plop himself on the bed, scrolling on his phone.

"John?"

"Hmm?"

"What do you think of Shotaro?"

"Shotaro? The baby? He's cute. I mean, he's a baby. He's bound to be cute. Babies are a lot of work, thank goodness they're at least adorable," Johnny said jokingly.

Babies are a lot of work.

"I personally think that I won't be able to father a child. I mean, I don't know. Am I ready? With Yuta having a newborn, I have to take some of his work’s portion for a period of time. Imagine if we're both having a kid at the same time?" Johnny continued casually.

The seemingly harmless sentence rang inside Kun's brain immediately.

He mindlessly went to his wardrobe to change his clothes as he pondered quietly.

Johnny worked from home a lot, but he's still busy nonetheless, and he stayed up late pretty often. He also had to go on site multiple times a month, now that he had obtained a higher position in the firm.

Kun teaches at least three days a week, and he still had his side job as a producer for a producing team, where he's expected to make at least a song a month.

They're both quite busy.

And babies, just like what Johnny said, are a lot of work.

Kun's hand unknowingly went to his tummy, and he's filled with dread almost immediately. Will he be able to provide good care for his child? Will Johnny… Will Johnny be able to care for the child as well?

No, scratch that.

Will Johnny even care about having a child?

This turned out to be a bigger problem than what Kun initially thought. What if Johnny doesn't want this kid as much as Kun wanted it? Or worse, what if Johnny doesn't want the kid at all?

Being pregnant comes with a lot of consequences. Kun was really thankful that he doesn't have to deal with morning sickness, so it's easier to hide it from Johnny. Indeed, he became clingier—which is a very normal response from his inner omega side, and also the baby's response of wanting to be closer to the alpha. Thankfully, Johnny didn't question his clinginess. If anything, the man seemed to enjoy having Kun plastered to his side whenever possible. Kun also gets tired pretty easily now, but seemingly, Johnny always thought that it was because he was busy with teaching. So far, all the signs were still pretty easy to mask.

The only tell-tale sign Kun can't hide, is his change in scent. He knew his scent changed a bit. There's this distinct scent that usually babies have, as well as pregnant omegas. And Kun can't deny that nowadays, he began to realize that he began to develop that scent atop his normal freesia smell.

Johnny had been the one to notice it early on, but thank goodness he's pretty dense so he thought it's just because Kun spent a lot of time with Guanheng, and now, Shotaro.

"Why are you so distressed?"

Kun jolted when he felt Johnny's arms circling around his waist. Kun carefully turned off the tap and set the clean plates on the rack.

"W-what do you mean?"

"I can smell it. You're stressed about something. Work?" Johnny asked carefully.

Kun gulped, and he decided to go with that.

"Yeah. Exam week is coming up. That means, you know, grading and stuff," he lied quickly. He felt bad for lying to Johnny, but until he figured out how to tell Johnny about his pregnancy, he might have to continue to lie.

"Hey, take it easy," Johnny said softly before pressing a kiss to Kun's nape, causing goosebumps to rise on Kun's skin.

"I'll try," Kun answered, tilting his head a bit to press a kiss to Johnny's jaw, causing the man to smile.

"Hmm. By the way, did you go to Ten's place or Sicheng's today?"

"Today? No. I had two classes to teach today, remember?" Kun blinked his eyes as he dried his hands.

Johnny frowned slightly but he shrugged it off immediately, "Oh, I thought you went to their place. You smelled mostly like babies nowadays since you visited them a lot."

Kun tensed a bit and laughed awkwardly, "Must be it…"

Johnny looked a bit unconvinced, but thankfully, their doorbell rang so Kun pried Johnny's arms away from his waist and rushed to the door.

"Hello, Uncle KunKun!"

Kun blinked his eyes and smiled when he saw one of their neighbors who lived on the same floor as them.

"Hi, Yerim. What are you doing late at night like this?" Kun asked, bending down to greet the little girl whom he saw often, playing at the apartment hallways, or knocking their door to give them cookies that she baked with her mother.

"My birthday is today, Uncle!"

"Oh, really? Happy birthday then, sweetie!" Kun beamed, making a mental note to bake a cake or something for the nice little girl.

"My mom and I made tteok yesterday!"

"Kun? Who is it?"

Johnny walked to the doorway and smiled at the sight of their neighbor.

"Oh, hi there, Yerim."

"Hello, Uncle Johnny! I brought tteok ! It's my birthday, and also, mommy is giving me a younger sibling! She said we should celebrate it by giving out tteok for the neighbors!"

"Ah, really? You're going to be a big sister then!" Kun beamed as the little girl jumped excitedly.

"Here, Uncle Kun!"

She took a nicely wrapped tteok from her little basket, which Kun accepted gratefully.

"Oh, thank you, Yerim. Johnny and I will enjoy this a lot."

The girl giggled, raising her arms, asking for a hug.

Kun chuckled, crouching down so he could hug her.

"Uncle, you smelled like Mommy. Are you having a little baby too like Mommy?" She asked curiously.

Kun's eyes widened.

"W-what?"

"Yerim! You shouldn't run away like that!"

Kun sighed in relief when he noticed Joohyun, their friendliest neighbor, Yerim's mom.

"Oh, Kun- sshi ! Johnny -sshi ! Is Yerim bothering you guys? I'm sorry, I already told her to go visit the neighbors tomorrow morning but she's just very excited to meet everyone," Joohyun apologized, rubbing on her slightly bulging stomach.

"It's okay, Joohyun- sshi . We'd love to give Yerim her birthday greeting. And plus, we should congratulate you on your pregnancy," Johnny spoke up.

"Ah, thank you very much," Joohyun smiled sweetly.

"Mommy! Mommy! Uncle KunKun smelled like you! Does that mean he's having a baby too? Can the baby be friends with your baby? Can I play with them? Do they like barbies?" Yerim tugged her mother's skirt and babbled innocently.

Johnny's eyebrows flew up, and he turned to face Kun immediately.

"Huh? Wait.. Kun- sshi ! Really?"

Kun froze when Joohyun sniffed the air before breaking into a happy squeal.

"Ah, that's right! Congratulations! You should visit our place more often, we can exchange pregnancy tips! Ah, no wonder you're really glowing. Yerim's right, you smelled nice. Congratulations, Kun- sshi , Johnny- sshi ! Well, I shouldn't bother you guys further. It's night time, you should rest, Kun- sshi . Come on, Yerim, let's go home. Say goodbye to the uncles?"

"Bye, Uncle KunKun! Uncle Johnny!" Yerim waved her hand before running back to her unit.

Kun paused, panicking.

Is his scent that noticeable?

"Kun…?"

Kun turned around and faced Johnny, wincing when he noticed Johnny's mortified expression.

"L-let's go inside," Kun stammered, quickly going back inside.

Johnny followed him, and he noticed the change in Kun's scent. Earlier tonight, he seems distressed. Right now, Johnny could easily smell the stress on Kun, and also heavy nervousness.

"Kun, wait," Johnny asked, holding Kun's wrist before he could run away to their room.

Kun gaped, and he felt himself washed over by anxiety immediately.

"I… Um. Uh…"

"What Joohyun- sshi said… You smelled pregnant?"

Kun grimaced, and Johnny froze when he saw Kun's face.

"No… Wait. Wait… Are you…?"

Kun bit his lips.

He didn't intend to tell Johnny now, but it seems like he can't hide it longer.

"Y-yes."

Johnny gaped, and he staggered for a bit.

"Johnny, I—"

"You're really… pregnant? Like, for real?"

Kun nodded hesitantly.

"So you already knew? Even before Joohyun told you earlier?"

Kun nodded again.

Johnny harshly rubbed his face.

"Johnny… I… I can explain. I—"

"Is this why you smelled like babies? Not because you spent too much time with Guanheng and Shotaro?"

Kun winced, and he nodded slowly.

"Johnny—"

"No, no, wait. I need… I need to digest this first. I… God. I… I'll go for a walk. Yeah… Yeah. I need air," Johnny rambled, stepping backwards, away from Kun, and out of the apartment.

Once Johnny left, Kun dropped to the ground, and cried his heart out.

It's a mess. He's right all along. Johnny is not ready for kids.

Johnny just walked, and walked, and walked, and finally stopped when he found himself nearly going into traffic. Shaking his head, he turned around, realizing he's already gone pretty far from the apartment complex.

He should've realized it sooner. Kun's scent changed subtly, but it was apparent. He should've known that if the weird scent was because Kun spent so much time with Guanheng and Shotaro, a simple shower would've cleared it easily.

Now that he thought about it, it was pretty obvious, aside from the change in scent. Kun was way clingier than he usually does. Kun became a literal kid magnet, even more than he already was. Kun gets tired easily.

Johnny knew he's pretty dense, but it's now that he realized how much of a total fool he is.

How can he not recognize the sign? Alphas usually are able to detect their partner's pregnancy even before they knew it themselves. The fact that Johnny missed it means Johnny was a complete idiot.

Johnny felt anxiety creeping up his system slowly.

Kun is pregnant. And it's definitely his child, because they were each other's only sexual partner.

And Johnny… he's not ready for a child. He can't even hold Guanheng for more than 5 minutes without making both himself and the kid uncomfortable. How would he be able to hold his own child later? Johnny is basically a giant composed of four awkward limbs. What if he dropped the baby?

Kids generally are scared of him. Shotaro cried when Doyoung attempted to hold him, but Shotaro cried even when Johnny was merely looking at him. What if he scared his own offspring away?

Johnny just got a much better position in the architectural firm he worked at, and Kun has a permanent spot as a lecturer in his campus as well as his producing team. Financially speaking, they could afford to raise a kid together.

But they're busy with their work. With a good salary came more work loads, and Johnny's afraid he wouldn't be able to provide time for his kid.

And Kun.

Kun, for God's sake. Yes, child rearing is tough, but taking care of a pregnant omega is also hard. Johnny has heard tons of stories from Yuta and Lucas, and he can't imagine himself in Yuta's or Lucas’ shoes. Would he be able to take good care of Kun during his pregnancy? He knew pregnancy is not easy, and how would Kun face his pregnancy? Will Kun’s health condition affect it?

Johnny doesn't think he's ever going to be ready for a kid. He still remembered how bad he used to treat Kun, and he knew he hasn't fully made up for his mistakes and their relationship is still in the works. Adding a kid into the equation… doesn't seem ideal.

Trying to calm his shit down, Johnny walked to the nearest bus stop, sitting down for a moment to collect his thoughts.

Kun is pregnant. With his child. They literally made a human together, and that tiny human being is growing inside Kun's belly now. It already happened, and Johnny can't do anything about it. He knew Kun really wanted a kid of his own. And as much as Johnny wanted to be selfish, he can't. He's also responsible for this unborn child. It’s not like Kun can impregnate himself on his own. And Johnny is not heartless either. He can't just ask Kun to terminate his pregnancy—No, God, no. He knew Kun was supposed to be infertile, so the fact that he's pregnant, it's truly a miracle. This child must've been God sent or something.

Johnny had to dish aside his fears and insecurities, and he had to face this problem head on. Geez, he's such a coward isn't he? He literally ran away from home, and he's leaving Kun alone in their apartment. Kun, his husband, his mate, who's currently pregnant with their first child. Alone.

"Fuck, Kun!"

Johnny ran back home again as fast as he could. It's already late, and he couldn't believe he just left Kun alone just because he was shocked at the news. God, he’s really the stupidest man ever.

He rushed to his apartment, and when he got inside, the lamps were all already turned off and the place was dead quiet.

"Kun?" He softly called out as he took off his shoes. There was no response. The kitchen is empty and dark. Johnny peeked into their office space. It's dark. Kun's computer is turned off.

He slowly walked into their bedroom, and sighed in relief when he noticed a small lump under the cover. He tiptoed his way to Kun's side and his heart broke when he saw Kun curled on his side of the bed. The younger guy was asleep. Johnny could see the drying tears on his face, and he felt guilty immediately. He just made Kun cry himself to sleep.

He promised he would stop being a dick to Kun, and yet he just proves himself how big of an asshole he is.

Carefully, he slipped under the cover and shifted closer to his mate, wrapping his arms around Kun's smaller body. When he nudged the back of Kun's neck with his nose, he could smell Kun's dimmed out freesia scent, as well as the peculiar baby scent.

"I'm sorry, Kun…"

When Johnny woke up the next morning, it was past 9 already. The spot next to him was already empty, and Kun had made his side of the bed. When Johnny walked to the kitchen, he found breakfast already served on the table, and Kun had also prepared his lunch box, and there's a sticky note taped onto the table.

i'm going to university.

don't forget to eat breakfast and bring your lunch box since you'll be going on site later today, right?

take care.

i'm so sorry for not telling you sooner. i didn't mean to lie to you.

i'm really sorry.

i love you.

Johnny winced. Kun doesn't have to be sorry. If he had to hide his own pregnancy from him, then Johnny must've been the problem. There must have been a reason for Kun to keep this story to himself.

Johnny made up his mind. He had to talk to Kun later.

Johnny's day was packed. He woke up a bit late, and he was feeling a bit down because he hasn't talked with Kun at all since last night. He had to go on site, and the client requested for a small revision on the spot, so he wasn't really feeling well today.

When he finally got home, he sighed in relief. The whole apartment smelled like a home-cooked meal. And when he stepped inside, he saw Kun cooking in the kitchen.

"Oh, you're home. Um… The food is almost done. You… you could shower first while I finish cooking."

Johnny noticed the shift of scent immediately. Nervous. Kun is nervous.

And so Johnny nodded, accepting Kun's suggestion. A shower will do him good and give Kun the space he probably needed.

He felt much better after showering, and when he went out, food was already served on the table, and Kun was sitting down, waiting for him. Kun wordlessly pushed the bowl of rice towards Johnny’s direction with a hesitant smile.

"Thank you for the food. Let’s eat," Johnny smiled softly. Kun looked a bit surprised at his reply.

They ate in silence, and Johnny hated it. He had grown accustomed to talking about his day with Kun, and hearing Kun talked about his own as well. And when dinner was finished, Kun insisted on washing the dishes by himself, leaving Johnny bored at the couch.

Johnny silently watches Kun standing by the sink. Kun doesn't look pregnant. He's still very slim and lean, although that will probably change in a few months. Johnny couldn't help but imagine. In a few months, maybe he had to be the one doing most of the chores, since Kun will be heavily pregnant. And then when the baby is born, their kitchen will probably change. There will be baby bottles, and whatever things babies use. A high chair will join the dining table. The coffee table in the living room should probably be cleared out. They might have to line the floor with playmats. There will be toys scattered around. The empty guest room they used as a temporary storage unit should be cleaned and turned into a nursery.

So many things will change.

But when Johnny glanced at his mate who's happily washing plates by the sink, parts of his insecurities and fears got lifted away. He will have Kun by his side. They're going to be parents. A team. They'll make it just fine. He shouldn't have been scared.

After Kun finished washing the dishes, Johnny called him, bringing him to their room so they could talk comfortably. Kun's relaxed scent changed immediately.

Fear. Johnny could smell fear. And he felt sad. Kun isn't supposed to fear him.

"Hey, relax. I just want to talk," Johnny said, pulling Kun down to sit on their bed.

"I-I'm sorry. I can’t help it. Sorry," Kun winced.

"No need to be. I'm the one who's sorry. I'm sorry I just stormed off last night. I was… surprised. I wasn't supposed to leave you alone like that."

"It's okay. You… you must've been so shocked. I'm sorry for keeping this from you. I… I didn't mean to keep the secret from you forever. I was just… Still processing it myself. And also I was thinking of how to break the news to you," Kun admitted.

Johnny sighed, "Kun, we promised no more secrets, right? You could tell me everything. I think I'd receive the news… um, better, I guess, if you just told me directly."

"I know, I'm sorry," Kun apologized as he fiddled with his fingers.

"Why are you so hesitant to tell me, huh?" Johnny asked softly.

Kun bit his lips anxiously, seemingly worried.

"Um… Because.. Because I know you don't want kids."

Johnny paused.

"What?"

Kun shrugged, "You always avoided A Heng and Taro. You were very awkward with them, and you kept saying that children… uh, children are too much work. You've also said that you're not ready for a kid. So I panicked. What if… what if you didn't want the baby?"

"Oh, Kun…"

"I was also in disbelief. I didn't think I was capable of carrying a child after what I've gone through. When Dr. Moon told me I was pregnant, I thought he was kidding. But he showed me my lab results, and he even did an ultrasound to prove it. I was… I was shocked. But I'm happy. And I was scared that you… that you might not be happy like I did."

Kun took a deep breath before looking up, "I really want a child of my own. But having a child requires work from both partners. And I'm scared that you'll find the work too difficult and I'm scared that you'll leave or something. We just got into a better place in our relationship, so I know you're still not ready to go too far."

Johnny nodded. See? Again, he's the wrong one. And he admitted, he's the wrong one. He kept acting as if he hated kids, and he made Kun misunderstood his actions as if he really disdained kids.

"How far along are you again?"

"A little over a month."

Johnny hesitantly reached a hand forward, gently placing it over Kun's clothed tummy.

"He… or she… is there… right?"

Kun nodded.

"It's a miracle baby. He or she definitely caught us by surprise," Johnny chuckled, slipping his hand under Kun's t-shirt, gently rubbing the skin underneath.

"Y-you're okay with this?" Kun asked worriedly.

"Kun, of course I'm okay with this! I was just caught off-guard that night. I mean, yes, I'm really terrified because I don't think I'd ever be ready to raise a child, but I have you. And, you have me too, I guess. I think… I think together we can do it."

"You think so?"

Johnny nodded firmly.

Kun let out a deep sigh and he was quick to wrap himself around Johnny that Johnny nearly toppled over.

"Thank you, Johnny. Thank you."

"Hey, why are you thanking me?" Johnny chuckled as he wrapped his arms around Kun's shoulder, letting the younger guy melt against him.

"For… for wanting to do this with me, I guess," Kun murmured with his face squished against Johnny's neck.

Johnny smiled, rubbing Kun's back. It's going to be one hell of a journey, but he has Kun, so he thinks he's going to be okay.

Nearly a month later, Kun brought him along to Dr. Moon's office.

Kun had previously shown him the first ultrasound picture, in which the baby was basically still a growing cell inside a pouch and they couldn't see anything. This time, Dr. Moon proudly told them that they could see the vague tiny thing that is their baby.

It's a small lump with something resembling a head, and small buds on its side which Dr. Moon said will grow into arms and legs. Dr. Moon offered to put this weird contraption on Kun's tummy, and Johnny heard it loud and clear. The sound of his baby's heartbeat.

He remembered Kun clutching his hand so hard as the loud thumping sound resonated from the speaker through the whole room. Johnny remembered being so dazed as he listened to the fast pace, and being so in awe at the fact that it all finally seemed real.

Johnny found himself gradually enjoying the trips to Dr. Moon's office every month to see how fast their little baby had grown.

He's grateful that babies took months to grow, and he was able to adjust himself to Kun's pregnancy slowly but surely. At least, the process didn’t feel like an ice bath. His life was slowly getting better and better each day, and it was apparent that Johnny is lucky. What if Kun didn’t forgive him for his past actions? What if Kun decided to proceed with removing his mating mark two years ago? What if he died because of it? Or what if the couple therapy they went through didn’t succeed? What if Kun was seriously sick because of his health condition and he was really infertile?

Then Johnny wouldn’t be here. He wouldn’t be living in this comfortable apartment, with a loving and patient husband, and a baby of their own on the way. He’d probably be a pathetic divorcee with a huge ass ego with no sense of fulfillment in his life. He’s really one lucky bastard.

“John?”

“Huh? Yeah?” Johnny turned around to see Kun appearing on his side.

“You were so focused on looking outside. What are you thinking about?” Kun asked.

Johnny chuckled, pulling the shorter guy in front of him, wrapping his arms around Kun’s smaller frame.

“There’s nothing exciting to look at,” Kun commented as he looked outside through their apartment’s large window.

“I was just thinking,” Johnny said, rubbing his thumb mindlessly against the barely noticeable bump on Kun’s tummy.

“About what?”

“About just how blessed I am.”
