The stadium was electric with noise and excitement.
It was a bit weird, Hinata had decided. He could feel all of his nerves on edge as he always did when walking into a volleyball game but he wasn't even playing this time. The Black Jackals had their last game a few days ago so here he was, at the Addler's game to surprise his husband.
He didn't feel nervous for Kageyama, Kageyama was never nervous apart from on the odd occasion they were facing Oikawa but even then, the two of them were basically best friends with Oikawa and Iwaizumi now so it was just those hints of so much riding on their games. They had a count, just like Kageyama and Hinata did; how many wins and how many loses, it was one of their things but this wasn't Oikawa and Argentina, this was a team that both Kageyama and Hinata had faced and beaten in the past.
The other thing about being at the Addler's game, was the lack of familiar faces.
Hinata had become so used to seeing the regulars at their games, from people like Keiji, there to support his husband, Koutarou or Osamu there to see Atsumu or Meian's wife and children to fans that came to all of their games to cheer them on, it created a comfortable environment, where everyone here was unfamiliar to him. He wasn't stupid, he knew a few of them probably recognised him but not knowing any of them set him on edge a little bit.
He'd run into Osamu in the foyer with Onigiri Miya which honestly, Hinata assumed had less to do with sales and more to do with the fact the Addler's were playing EJP which meant Osamu's boyfriend, Suna was around.
He was honestly surprised Kiyoomi wasn't ther-
"Sho!" Hinata jumped at the sound of his name shouted over the crowd, he quickly scanned the stands and smiled brightly when he spotted some of his friends with a spare seat in between them, like they were waiting for him. Well, he guessed they might have been considering he'd told Atsumu about his plans to surprise Tobio.
"'Tsumu!" Hinata shouted back, bounding down to where Atsumu, Kiyoomi, Tendou and Kenma and Kuroo for some reason were sat together, chatting about the game that was about to start. "Kenma!" Hinata greeted his best friend.
"Oh, I see how it is," Kuroo said dramatically from where he was sat, his arm wrapped around Kenma's shoulder. Kenma returned his head to where it had been rested against Kuroo's shoulder. "You teach someone through high school and then they just forget about you and greet your fiancé inside, I'm hurt," he teased, high-fiving Hinata before Hinata quickly greeted Tendou and then taking a seat next to Atsumu and Kiyoomi.
The six of them managed to pass the half an hour before the game started with conversations about how the season had gone, what games they were excited about for the next season and everyone's Christmas plans. He and Tobio had simple plans, they were going to visit Hinata's mum and sister and then Kageyama's sister but he learned that Kiyoomi and Atsumu were spending two days around Kiyoomi's family because they tried to avoid them as much as possible, Hinata knew why and then a week with Atsumu's family in a cabin they often went too, Ushijima and Tendou were spending it in their apartment and Kuroo and Kenma were spending most of the time with Bokuto and Akaashi.
They were just finishing their conversation when the introduction of both teams started.
Watching Tobio play volleyball was one of Shouyo's biggest joys in life.
It had been for so many years.
In every single game that he played, it was so obvious to see how much Tobio loved playing volleyball, how much he really cared about the sport. Watching him develop from their first year of high school to now bought Hinata so much happiness and seeing him now on the big court and then getting to play with him on the biggest court when they played in the Olympics together.
The 2021 Olympics had been the best two weeks of his life, he got to spend two whole weeks with Tobio playing volleyball as well as getting to spend time with so many of their friends and getting to play with people he normally played against but most of all, getting to see Tobio continuing to fall in love with volleyball and getting to work out new plays with him was the highlight of his year. He was someone who could bring out the best in all of his players, something Oikawa had helped him with and that showed so much when he was playing with the Addler's.
It was an exciting game, he watched both teams absolutely go for it. But, he'd had no doubt that The Addler's were going to take it and he was right. It came down to the last few points of the final set and before he knew it, he was jumping up with Tendou and cheering loudly before he quickly quietened down realising he was there to surprise his husband.
"Damn," Atsumu muttered from beside him, Hinata smirked at him and Atsumu glared, matching Kiyoomi's own glare. He'd definitely picked that up since they had started dating.
"Come on sours," Kuroo said, standing up and taking Kenma's hand tightly in his own. "Let's leave the two lovebirds here to greet their boyfriends and we'll meet them outside."
The other three left quickly, leaving Tendou and Hinata to grin at each other before they made their way down to the front to greet their partners.
"Thank you very much!" The Addler's cheered to the crowd, Hinata could feel the nerves in his stomach as Kageyama straightened up from his bow and their eyes met. He watched all of the emotions cross his husband's face before he was grinning at Hinata and reaching out a hand to him. Hinata did the same, linking their fingers together for a few seconds.
"You're here!" Kageyama shouted over the noise that was still surrounding them, he knew that everyone had caught on to the fact that "Shobio" had been reunited as the fans had called them.
"I'm here!" Hinata cheered back, leaning down to press a kiss to Kageyama's knuckles. "I'll meet you outside?"
"Yeah give me fifteen minutes," Hinata nodded, quickly blowing a kiss to his husband before he managed to make his way out of the stadium, stopping for the occasional picture on his way out.
The other three had now been joined by Osamu at the back-door and were chatting away about the game, about how Osamu's business was going.
Hinata welcomed the cool December air as him and Tendou walked towards them. He was glad that the fans didn't have access to the back of the stadium because there had been a lot of people in there and he knew that Kageyama often got overwhelmed with the amount of people that wanted to greet him after such an intense match so he was glad that his husband was going to get some quiet before he took him home.
The two of them hadn't had an extended period of time in their apartment together for a few months and Hinata was excited to finally have Tobio all to himself again before the holidays.
"Your husband is a monster," It was Suna that bought Hinata back into their conversation. He was smiling, resting his head against Osamu's shoulder as Osamu ran his fingers through his hair and pressed a kiss to the top of his head.
"Yeah Sho, he's improved even since the Olympics!" Komori butted in, patting Atsumu's shoulder when he started muttering about being the best.
"I think you're the best," Kiyoomi assured his boyfriend and Atsumu looked like he'd won a million dollars. People thought that Kiyoomi was cold but Hinata knew the truth, he was so soft for Atsumu Miya and would do anything to make the other feel better, it made him smile. The two of them worked better than anyone thought they would but he also wasn't surprised when he walked into practice one day to them announcing that they were dating.
It was another ten minutes of talking to Kuroo and Kenma about how they were before the Addler's made their appearance.
"Tobio!" Hinata cheered, pressing a kiss to his husband's lips softly. "You really are amazing, that was amazing. I'm proud of you and I love you," Hinata rushed out, grinning brightly.
"I'm happy you're here, dumbass," Kageyama replied fondly, wrapping his arms around Hinata and hugging him tightly.
It was warm.
It was home.
"Like I would really miss it, I wanted to surprise you and see you play, I always love seeing you play.
"Aw, little Tobio is blushing," Atsumu laughed from where he was still stood watching the two of them. Sakusa was now resting his head in the crook of Atsumu's neck, eyes closed, if Hinata didn't know any better, he would think the wing spiker had fallen asleep.
"Shut up," Kageyama snapped back, resting his hand in Hinata's gently.
The eleven of them stood around for another half an hour before saying their goodbyes. It had been such a great night Hinata had decided, he'd loved seeing his friends when he hadn't seen Tendou or Kuroo or Ushijima properly since the Olympics, Komori or Suna for a couple of months, Osamu since their last game of the season and Kenma for about a week and a half. It was always so much fun to catch up with them, he was grateful for each and every one of them.
Hinata and Kageyama were silent on the way back to their apartment, Hinata drove whilst Kageyama rested, their hands entwined in the middle. It was a comfortable silence, Hinata knew that Kageyama always enjoyed quiet after a game, it helped level him back out and Hinata was more than happy to comply, anything that would make his husband more comfortable and happy was good for him.
Their apartment was a welcome sight especially since it was approaching one in the morning.
"Do you want to eat?" Hinata asked as the two of them walked through the door.
"No, I wanna sleep," Kageyama muttered, resting his head on Hinata's shoulder.
"Okay Tobio," Hinata said softly, leading the two of them towards their shared bedroom. They made quick work of getting ready to bed before curling up together in their bed and Hinata immediately felt at peace, he hadn't slept with Tobio next to him for too long and he cherished the times he actually could.
"God, I love you Tobio."
"I love you too, Sho. Thank you for coming."
"I wouldn't have missed it baby."
