Work Text:
“Come on, Y/N! Pleeeasee!!” Your friend and dorm mate, Mina Ashido, practically begged you as you both walked back to your shared dorms. “I promise the party will be fun! It’s a holiday party!”
“Mina, no.” you said sternly. You’ve been saying the same thing to her for the past week but she just would not shut up about you accompanying her to a Christmas party of some sort. Mina was a good friend of yours but she was the complete opposite of you. She was constantly out, either at parties or on dates she was just never at the dorm.
She whined in response but continued persisting. “Come ooonn! You never go out to parties! Just this once, pretty please?”
“Midoriya’s gonna be there.” She added hopefully and you wondered about it as you unlocked your dorm room with your key.
You nibbled on your bottom lip as you thought about it. She wasn’t wrong; you never did go out to parties. You always stayed cooped up in you dorm room, studying for an upcoming exam. It’s not that you disliked parties, you just didn’t have time for them- is what you usually tell yourself but in reality you just really hate socialising. You hated the small talk and the idea of talking to strangers. You were many things, but dumb was not one of them. You knew that Mina would not leave you alone unless you agreed. She was just that stubborn. You really didn't want to go but.. you didn’t have any tests coming up.. And your crush would be there..
You sighed in defeat as you entered your dorm and put away your key. “Fine.”
Mina’s mood did a full 180 as she instantly brightened up. “Yes! Thank you!!”
She instantly sprinted to your wardrobe and began searching for clothes. When she saw you still standing there, she ran up to you and dragged you to her.
“Come on! Let’s go pick out an outfit for you!”
~~~
You leaned against the wooden doorframe of the isolated hallway, trying to escape the crowds of people partying; trying to escape the awkward small talk and conversations about nothing but themselves.
You glanced at the drink in your hand, swirling the liquid around before taking a sip. Everything was too loud. The people, the music, the drama. You just wanted to get away from the stupid party that Mina dragged you to.
Upon arriving, Mina had stuck with you for a solid 20 minutes before disappearing somewhere. She told you she'd be back in 10 minutes but it's been nearly an hour and there was still no sign of the crazed party girl. No wonder her grades suffered.
You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest in disappointment. You let Mina dress you up in a cute outfit because you thought your crush would be here. But here you were, all alone and feeling extremely out of place without Mina by your side.
You took another sip of your drink just as another person entered the room.
“Oh, hey Y/N.” A familiar sweet voice ringed through the mostly empty hallway, causing you to look up and be greeted with a pair of mesmerising green eyes you’ve grown to love so much.
“Midoriya! Hey, what’s up?” You smiled, your mood instantly brightening. That was just the affect this ball of sunshine had. Midoriya never failed to lift your spirits, he never failed to make your day just by simply existing. You had tagged along with Mina to a small gathering at her friend's house and that's where you met the adorable person that is Izuku Midoriya. You instantly hit it off and even exchanged numbers, remaining in touch via texts when you weren't together physically. You've known him for a while now and you had started to develop feelings for the green-eyed boy.
“Nothing much. What are you doing out here by yourself?” He tilted his head slightly in curiosity. Adorable.
“I wanted to get away from the noise.” You replied, shrugging your shoulders slightly and trying to ignore the way your heartbeat accelerated at the thought of being alone with your crush.
“Ahh, I see. Mina dragged you here, didn’t she?” Midoriya guessed.
“Yep.” You nodded, lifting the cup to your lips and taking another sip. Gosh, you were bored. You just wished something would happen.
At one certain moment, Midoriya’s eyes travelled to the ceiling. He visibly froze, doubled back and then flushed a deep shade of red.
“Is something wrong?” You asked in concern once you saw his troubled expression but the green haired boy could only splutter and stammer in response. Curious and confused, you looked up to see what he was staring at, only to be made aware of the fact that you were both standing under a mistletoe.
“Oh.” You mutter, staring at the little plant neatly hanging from the ceiling before looking back at the blushing Midoriya.
“We d-don’t have to kiss or anything I mean-“ Midoriya stutters, choking on his own words as he desperately avoided eye contact with you.
“Unless you want to..” He muttered quietly, almost too quiet for you to hear. But you heard it. Loud and clear despite the blaring music in the other room. With your heart pounding out of your chest, you closed your eyes and pulled him in, your lips meeting his in the centre.
Midoriya’s eyes widened and he tensed before visibly relaxing and kissing you back. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he pulled you in closer by your waist. It felt like sparks flying and fireworks exploding and waves crashing all at once. It was passionate and magical, yet soft and gentle at the same time.
You felt ecstatic, to finally be able to kiss your crush. And judging by the way he kissed you back, you assumed the feeling was mutual.
You pulled away, softly panting and your face warm as you gazed into his viridian eyes. You couldn’t help but break into a smile as Midoriya did too, still holding you by your waist. Some shitty Christmas song was blasting in the background but all you could hear was Midoriya's gentle heartbeat.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to do that.” Midoriya mutter softly under his breath, but you were so close that all you could hear was him. It was as if everything and everyone else in the world disappeared. All you could think about were sparkling green eyes and warm hands on your waist. Your heart jumped at his words, making you feel giddy and excited at the prospect of your crush liking you back.
You broke out into a gentle smile. “Me too.”
You hugged him tighter and leaned in for another kiss.
Maybe this party isn’t so bad after all.
