All I Want For Christmas

Summary:

Jin takes his son Soobin to the mall to see Santa for the first time.

Cue cute Christmas activities, very attractive elves, and Soobin being the cutest child there ever was.

Notes:

Hi! It's my first time ever writing taejin and my first holiday themed fanfic. I hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Jin wakes up in a dark room, the sun yet to begin to shine, with cold little toes pressed between that weren’t there when he first went to bed. Hot breath being breathed on his neck. He feels his son giggle more then he hears it, knowing his son didn’t really mean to wake him, he was just so excited for that afternoon.

“Soobin-ah. The sun isn’t up yet. That means it’s not time to see Santa yet.” Jin says as he wraps his arms around the giggling boy, hoping cuddling will make him go back to sleep.

Soobin also wraps his arms around his dad, the five year old never one to say no to getting cuddled. “But Daddy! It’s the first time I get to see Santa. How can I sleep? How are you sleeping Daddy?”

“Because I know the longer we sleep, the less time we have to be awake before going to see him.” Jin says, already falling back asleep and trying to get his son to sleep as well.

“I guess you’re right. But when we get back up you have to help me finish my letter to Santa.”

“Of course baby.”

“Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! Get up! It’s time to go see Santa!”

This time Jin wakes up to Soobin jumping on the bed, narrowly missing landing on his dad with each bounce.

The sun shines through the curtains now, but a glance at the clock tells Jin it’s still two hours before his alarm is supposed to go off. The Kim household usually sleeps in until 9:30 on the weekends, but the promise of Santa Claus has Soobin wide awake by 7:30.

Jin reaches up to grab Soobin mid jump, swooping him up and lifting him further into the air.

“AHHHH DADDY!” Soobin shouts with a giggle.

With a laugh Jin says “Well, if it’s time to get ready for Santa then we better get going!”

With brushed teeth and brushed hair, and a Christmas sweater that was more for pictures to send to relatives then anything Jin would pick for Soobin to wear; it was time to finish both of their letters to Santa. Soobin required that his dad also give Santa a Christmas list and Jin would never refuse his son such thing.

“So you want a new bicycle, a Captain America action figure, and a Pikachu plushie. Anything else sweet boy?” Jin says with a smile, wondered with his son for asking for so little when he remembers writing a list longer then he could count at Soobins age.

“Well,” Soobin says with a pause and a mischievous smile that mimics Jins own so well, “I wouldn’t mind if Daddy maybe found someone that made him happy. Like how uncle Namjoon and uncle Yoongi are.”

Jin’s heart swells as he hears his son say this. He reaches across the kitchen counter to ruffle his sons hair. “Soobinie, you’re all I need to be happy. You always have been and you always will be.”

“I know Daddy. But I also heard you tell uncle Yoongi you missed being kissed. I think that’s gross but if it makes you happy.” Soobin says with a shrug.

“You heard that?”

“Well you weren’t quiet about it.”

“You were supposed to be asleep.”

“I like hearing you and uncle Yoongi talk. Even if uncle Yoongi sometimes says naughty words.” Soobin says with a smile, knowing his dad would never be mad at him.

“Uncle Yoongi does have a potty mouth, he’s a terrible influence. And if you must know, I do miss kissing, but that doesn’t mean happiness Binnie. You’re all the happiness I need.”

Jin folds up Soobins letter to Santa, excluding Soobin’s request to have Santa bring his dad a person to kiss, and sticks it in an envelope that he had Soobin decorate the night before. It’s covered in glitter and little drawings of what Jin assumes are reindeer but look like cats, or maybe squirrels depending on which way you hold it. Jin’s own envelope has Christmas trees and a drawing of tuna fish with a red nose to be Rudolph. It was Soobins idea but Jin is pretty proud of himself with how the design turned out.

“What did you ask for Daddy?” Soobin asks, trying to peak and what his dad wrote on his own letter even though he probably couldn’t read it.

“I asked for a new hot chocolate mug that says #1 Dad.” Jin pauses with a grin as Soobin giggles like it’s the funniest thing he’s heard. “Am I not the number one dad?”

“Of course you are Daddy. But you’re asking Santa for a mug? He could bring you anything in the whole world!”

“Well you didn’t let me finish. I also want a new sweater and maybe some new shoes.”

“Daddy,” Soobin says with a very serious look, “that might be the worst Christmas list I’ve ever heard!”

Jin laughs at his sons dramatic tendencies, he couldn’t possibly know who he got that from. “It’s called getting old baby. It’s no fun.“ Jin folds his own letter and seals both envelopes, dramatically setting them in front of Soobin. “Now, should we get our shoes on and go see Santa?”

“YES! Come on Daddy let’s go!”

“Hyung, you can’t wear the Santa suit.” Jungkook says with an eye roll as his friend tries on the painfully fake looking white beard.

“Some us want more in life then to dress up as a elf everyday Jungkookie.” Taehyung says with a grin as he puts the Santa’s coat on. Taehyung doesn’t want to brag but looking in the mirror he thinks he’s the hottest Santa he’s ever seen.

“Kim Taehyung. Jeon Jungkook. Get your asses out here and help me set up, parents are already lining up!” Jimin yells from outside the break room.

“Jimin! If you swear one more time in front of the kids you’re going to be fired. And Jungkook, Taehyung, Santa needs his helpers out here!” They hear their boss yell. She’s a sweet old lady, makes a perfect Mrs. Claus, but all three boys know her threats are to be taken seriously.

“Coming!” Both boys yell as they hear Jimin apologizing.

Taehyung takes off the Santa costume and changes into his elf costume. He still looks good, single parents hit on him all time, even in the striped tights they force him to wear.

“Took you long enough.” Jimin says, with a smile as he looks at his best friend, and not a hint of actual annoyance in his voice.

“You can’t rush perfection Jimin-ah.” Taehyung says with a wink.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say. Jungkookie already called taking pictures today and I’m on the photo packaging station, so you have to take care of the line.”

“That’s so unfair! I was hired to take the photos, not sell overpriced photo packages to tired parents. Please Jimin, can’t we trade.” Taehyung says.

“Sorry Tae, maybe tomorrow. Now go on before you get in trouble. We open in fifteen minutes.” Jimin says pushing Taehyung towards the entrance where at least ten families are already lined up.

“Daddy look! There’s Santa’s sleigh! And there’s the mailbox to put our letters!” Soobin says pulling on Jin’s hand as he points to each new thing he sees.

“I know Binnie! Isn’t it so exciting? Are you ready to see Santa? There’s only a few more kids to go.”

“I’m ready! I already know what I’m going to ask him for and I’m going to use my best smile for the photos!” Soobin says looking up at Jin, practicing his smile before he goes up.

“Hi, welcome to Santa’s workshop. It’ll only be a few more minutes until it’s your turn to see Santa.“ Taehyung says in a rehearsed tone and a smile while looking down at Soobin. “Can I offer you one of our four photo packages?” Taehyung says as he looks up to talk to Jin. And oh wow. Taehyung has seen a lot of attractive single parents with this job but Jin is the most attractive guy he’s ever seen. And his son is adorable and not screaming like most the little kids that come.

“Sure, whatever one has the most wallet sized photos. Lots of relatives to send pictures to.” Jin says with a smile and laugh, also surprised with how attractive he finds a guy in an elf costume.

“That would be package four then. You can come with me to pay while this cutie goes to Santa.” Taehyung says as he pulls the rope back for Soobin to walk over to Santa.

Technically Taehyung should give Jin a slip and send him over to Jimin to pay, but as Taehyungs best friend, Jimin should understand his attempts to flirt.

Soobin walks over to Santa with one of the biggest smiles Jin has ever seen his son have. He gives him a thumbs up while Soobin sits on Santa’s lap while Jin follows Taehyung behind the camera.

“Look here please!” Jungkook says with a smile, taking a few different photos for Jin to choose from after he Soobin tells Santa what he wants for Christmas.

As Soobin says goodbye to Santa and walks over to Jin, Taehyung quickly writes his phone number on the package before handing the photos over to Jin, signing it with Santa's favorite helper.

“Bye Santa! Bye Mrs. Claus! Bye elves!” Soobin says as he and his father walk away.

“Bye!” Jin says with a smile, eyes lingering on Taehyung.

“Bye cuties!” Taehyung says with a wink. Jin blushes as he walks away and Taehyung really hopes Jin will call him.

“So that was gross. I never want to see you flirt like that again.” Jungkook says with a fake gagging sound.

“Don’t worry you probably won’t have to. That little cutie told Santa he wanted his dad to find a boyfriend he can kiss and with the way that guy was flirting, I think Taehyung might be getting himself a date.” Jimin says with a smile. Taehyung loves his best friend for being noisy and always listening to what the kids want. Usually, it’s so they can judge kids.

“Jimin-ah, I truly hope you’re right. If I didn’t have any self-respect I would’ve asked him out while wearing this awful outfit.” Taehyung says.

“You don’t have self-respect though hyung.” Jungkook says, narrowly missing Taehyungs attempt at kicking him in the shin.

“So Binnie, your dad said you went to Santa’s workshop today. What did you ask Santa to bring you for Christmas?” Yoongi asks after getting to his best friend's house for Christmas movie night.

“I asked him to bring a boyfriend for my Daddy. I heard he missed kissing!” Soobin says with as much joy as a kid who had asked for the present they wanted most that year.

“You said that?” Jin asks in surprise, face already turning red.

Yoongi falls sideways laughing, in awe of how sweet his best friend's son is while also happy to know he embarrassed his dad a bit. “That’s so nice of you Binnie! I don’t know if Santa can bring a person to you though.”

“That’s ok uncle Yoongi, when we saw Santa, one of his elves seemed to really like my dad. I think he’ll ask Santa to bring him here on Christmas.” Soobin says very seriously.

“Is that so?” Yoongi asks and then turns to look at his best friend, “You flirted with an elf in front of your son?”

“Shut it. This only happened because he heard us talking.” Jin says, ears as red as a Christmas bow.

And if Jin texts the pretty elf he flirted with the next night to ask about a coffee date and possibly what his Christmas plans are, that’s none of Yoongi’s business.
