Work Text:
Lucas was walking slowly down the rainy, empty street, heading back from a day of stressful hellish torment in the form of a 9-5 office job. He could barely keep his eyes open as his feet dragged on the wet concrete, his parents words relentlessly playing on loop in his head. Be a doctor, they said. Give us grandchildren, they said. But he couldn't do it, he wasn't nearly as intelligent and good-looking as his older brother, Mucas, anyway.
And then, alone, slow dancing in the crisp air and sticky humidity, he saw Asano Gakushuu in all of his orange-haired glory. His soaking hair was plastered to his porcelain skin, masculine hands gripping his head as water trickled down the smooth surface of his forearms. His swift movements seemed to slow time, an insignificant smile dusting his rosy cheeks as he continued, step after step.
The combination of the dance and the plummeting rain on puddled concrete made Lucas feel a sense of hope.
For what seemed like hours, Asano continued his enchanting movements and Lucas felt himself falling deeper into mesmerization. With each move the difficulty increased, the smile that Asano wore grew wider by the second, and Lucas couldn’t help but find it contagious. But as they say, every exceptional thing must come to an eventful end…
A shattering scream broke Lucas out of hypnosis.
A blood curdling yelp.
A heart tearing howl.
A broken, pained scream.
Asano was reaching out as he fell, arms outstretched into a slight resemblance of a hug that was never returned. Lucas heard the sound of scraping skin as he fell, skin crawling with the dread of it all.
Lucas was starting to wonder if this kid was fucking okay.
In that same moment, Asano jerked his head towards Lucas, eyes tattered with crimson brimming with tears. And with the feeling of strong discomfort blooming in his chest, Lucas ran, ran as far as his legs could carry him. He sprinted, leaping through the moist air.
The realization came to Lucas as he woke up about how batshit insane the entire situation was and how much he wished he had enough money to move out of his goddamn neighbourhood. A neighbourhood without the longing eyes of Asano Gakushuu, who needed therapy.
And Lucas, who wished not to be alive at all.
