Party in Haven

Summary:

Day 7 of 12 Days of Christmas Shipping

Pairing-Red Velvet Cookie X Pastry Cookie (Cookie Run: Kingdom)

Notes:

I'm probably one of the few people that love this ship

I saw the Tower of Sweet Chaos story-and goddamn Devsisters stop giving me feels for cookies

And just wanna clarify, they are humans, but the lore of the canon is still here and they are still in Cookie Run Kingdom World. I just like writing about people

Work Text:

Pastry Cookie awoke with a stir. Her eyes fluttering open, noticing the odd pillow she was laying on. Of course, upon further clarity, she knew it wasn't a pillow at all, but the chest of Red Velvet Cookie, one of her most sworn enemies. She sighed, ever since her first trip into the tower, an...agreement was made. Red Velvet would cease the cake hound production inside the inside the tower and refuse to fight in it. All that was asked was Pastry's hand. Admittedly, the Order was hesitant about it all...but concluded that one less commander in the tower would be good when they had to reconquer it again, for the Holy Witches, of course.

The Witches...the thought of them made Pastry curl inside her own self even smaller. Everything the Order taught her, everything she was made to believe in, gone. Shattered like that when the Ultimate Dough showed her the truth. A part of her keeps her faith, that whatever she saw down there was but a mere hallucination. She was a fool, truly. The Order is not wrong. Reverent Mother is not wrong.

But another part of her...a much larger one, chose to secretly rebel against the Order. She wouldn't fight with the side of evil; it would take a damn long time before that would happen. Yet she would not fight for the Order either. Anytime Pastry was called upon, she would go missing. Kidnapped by the assigned partner she was given for temporary peace.

Then again, wasn't she already rebellious enough by going far beyond what the contract asked of her?

"Your morning crisis is louder than usual," a voice grumbled. Pastry Cookie could feel the vibrations from his throat to his chest. She pulled herself off the figure to reveal a disgruntled Red Velvet Cookie who had just woken up.

"My apologies...sweetheart," she responded carefully. With a sigh, Red Velvet heaved himself up and leaned forward for a kiss. Pastry stopped him with her hand. "Kiss me after you brush your teeth."

He grumbled but complied.

The couple stepped out of bed to get changed and ready for the day. Carefully stepping around the multiple cake hounds in the dwelling, the two went to the kitchen to find something to eat.

As soon as Pastry went over to the fridge to find something to eat. Red pulled her into a kiss. She sighed, complying with it.

When they broke apart, Pastry popped a question she hoped would get a good response. "Do you want to go to a Saint Witches Party?"

Red froze at that notion. It wasn't a surprise that Red Velvet didn't think too highly of the Witches, and Pastry Cookie in turn was doubting them as well. Why make Cookies full of life to only then just eat them without mercy?

"M-my sweetheart," Red began, but Pastry cut him off.

"Oh, don't be so worried," she reassured. "It's not a religious thing or anything like that. It's just a party. The Witches are actually barely even celebrated. You don't have to appease to them in any way."

Red Velvet Cookie pondered over this notion, more calm in the fact that he wouldn't betray Dark Enchantress Cookie. "I-yes, I see your point. But I have never been involved in anything about Saint Witches Day."

Pastry took great offense to that. While the parties were never her thing, the Saint Witches parties thrown by the monastery were the best. December was her favorite time of the month because of that. She dipped her head down in shock, leaving Red to panic at what was happening.

She grabbed his arm in a tight squeeze. "You poor thing. Let me show you the true magic of the holiday."

"...What?"

XoXo

After much convincing later, Pastry Cookie managed to get Red Velvet Cookie to a nearby celebration without panicking. To her insistence, Red only brought the tiny Chiffon with them, given that he was the least dangerous.

Red could only gasp in awe at what he saw. Lights shining everywhere, snow falling down from the sky, Cookies of all shapes and sizes celebrating the holiday. For a moment, Red Velvet Cookie forgot what was happening. He forgot the war happening, he forgot about the treaty he signed with Reverend Mother Cookie. He was just Red Velvet Cookie here. No commander, no weak link, just Red Velvet.

In a joyful spring akin to a child, Red Velvet bounced around the party, checking out everything they had in store. Pastry giggled at the sight of it all. Chiffon was also bouncing around with him, careful to not be stepped upon.

After a lot of running, spiked fruit punch, and a bunch of holiday games that Red Velvet never knew he needed, but now could not live without, Pastry Cookie held him close to her and whispered, "Do you enjoy Saint Witches Day now?"

His head lopped to the side, "No. But I get the appeal."

"Huh?!"

Red Velvet Cookie smiled. He'll have to make a tradition to come to a party every year.
