Work Header

A worthwhile vacation

Summary:

Aether accompanies Ayaka and Ayato to a meeting in the Tenshukaku. One thing to another, and now Ayaka has a lot of time on her hands to spend with a certain blond-haired traveller.

They decide for a trip, bringing with them another couple that they know very well.

Notes:

Fair warning, this one will be VERY long. I finally wanted a reason so that I can start writing my Liyue and Mondstadt stories and introducing the characters there into the current storyboard. Not to mention, MOAR SHIPS!!

Here's a prelude to the series.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Tri-Commission Meeting

Chapter Text

It was morning in the Kamisato Estate with birds chirping, crickets bouncing about and squirrels scurrying around in the nearby trees.

Though the morning peace was there, in a specific room, a certain blue haired maiden could be seen pacing about her room uncharacteristically.

“No, I don’t think this goes well here.”

In Ayaka’s hands was a large painting sealed inside of a golden frame, large enough that it covered at least three quarters of Ayaka herself if set at her feet. She ran about the room, placing it in the walls and taking a step back to look at it, before taking it down and repeating the process.

The painting itself was one that she and Aether drew some days back. It was a nicely drawn and coloured portrait of Aether, standing tall with his sword in hand. She wanted to hang the image in her room somewhere, but even though she had a lot of space in the walls, none of the spots she placed it on seemed to suit her fancy.

She grumbled a little, displeased with how she wasn’t able to find a perfect place to put it. She thought about it for a second.

“Well, I want to look at it as a form of refreshing myself, so I need to place it somewhere I’d see it easily, preferably from my bed. Oh!”

She walked over to the wall just across her bed, moving the Kamisato banner to the side a little and stuck the painting up on the wall. She then trotted over to her bed and sat, cutely staring at the painting and imagining herself waking up to it.

She giggled like a little girl. “Hehe, perfect.”

Satisfied, she grabbed the other frame she wanted to put up. This one was one she wanted to keep close to her as she worked, so she decided to hang it up in front of her work table by the corner of the room.

Inside the frame was a photo that she and Aether took some time ago. It was a photo that centered around a family concept, with Ayaka seated politely in a chair whilst Aether stood behind her, one hand beside him and one on her shoulder. Ayaka remembered how hard it was for her to keep her smiling face, her embarrassment for such a daring concept in photos threatening to burst out her facade.

Luckily, she held it. Ignoring the water she drank afterwards to cool her overheated mind.

She hung the frame slightly higher than eye level, now content with her work.

“There we go. All done. Now, he should be here anytime now.”

“Milady! Aether’s here to see you.” Thoma’s voice rang from the other room.

Just in time.

Smiling wide, she exits her room quickly with a skip to her step.

Aether was just outside, having quickly finished his commissions and talking to Paimon. “So, you mean we should put some mushrooms in it? That sounds like a good idea.”

“Xiangling said that it would be great for steak sauce, so Paimon says we should try it!”

“Maybe tonight then?”

“Paimon was thinking of the same thing. Oh, speaking of which.” Paimon vanishes to leave them some privacy. Aether knew who was behind him instantly.

“Good morning!” She greeted him as he turned around. He bent forward a little with his arms wide, and Ayaka instantly let herself be captured in the hug.

“Good morning too.” He replies, letting go of the hug but not the arms. “Had a good morning?”

“Yes. I was just finished with my room decorations, so your timing was perfect.”

“Hehe, good thing then. So, how’s things?”

“Hmm, as much as I’d like to talk, let’s get inside first. I have some tea brewing on the table.”

“Well then my dear, lead the way.”

They entered the estate, and soon wound up on a loveseat that Aether helped Ayaka place in her room ‘for decorative purposes’ or so he claims. They drank their tea as they chatted about the day. The sofa was placed so that they could look at the eastern sea of Narukami island, the cool breeze hitting them as autumn leaves fall through the sky.

“The cold season is coming soon.” She says absent mindedly.

“Are the preparations going smoothly?” He asks, taking a sip of his hot cup of tea.

“Thankfully yes. The other commissions are still currently reforming and reorganizing after their ordeal with the Fatui, so most of the burden is placed on the Yashiro commission. Truth be told, it’s interesting to be working on these new tasks at hand, since I could get an image of what the other commission’s work was like.”

“Surely it won’t last much longer right? They still have their positions as part of the Tri-commission to fulfill.”

“That, I agree. I heard that there will be a large meeting when the clans are to return to their respective workloads.”

“Great! Now we can go out more!”

Ayaka blushes, smiling at him. “You always know how to make any situation much more lively, don’t you?”

“Wouldn’t be me if I didn’t eh?”

“Paimon has certainly grown on you.”

“Well, she has been with me since day one, so I can totally see why.”

“Hehe, true to the last word.” She cuddles closer to him, savouring his warmth. He circles his arm around her, locking her in place.

“You know, I miss these tranquil moments. I only wish life could be as leisurely as this a little more often. Hehe, how greedy of me.”

“I don’t see much greed in it. If anything, you and your brother deserve as much.”

She smiles, looking up to him. He looks down at her. “Thank you for your kind words, Aether.”

“Anytime.” He replied.

Ayaka sensed the time was right to be a little more bold. Before Aether could turn his head and attention elsewhere, Ayaka immediately lunged forward without warning. Had she been a split second late, she would’ve missed her mark.

Luckily, she was quick, and Aether’s eyes widened as her lips pressed onto his own. He melted straight into it, leaning down on her in return with equal ferocity.

One problem exists here though, which was about to make itself apparent to them. More accurately, himself.

“Sister, may I ask-” Ayato opened the door with some papers in hand, only to stop as he looked inside. He’d interrupted something private.

“!!!”

Aether and Ayaka immediately detached themselves from each other, Aether cowering on his side of the loveseat whilst Ayaka stood immediately and faced her brother, her fan already covering her face save her eyes.

“B-brother.” She managed to stutter out. Her face was red from ear to ear, and you can see steam coming out of her head in sheer embarrassment.

“Pfff…..HAHAHA!” Ayato laughed, a little too loud for comfort as he wiped his tears at how hilariously cute these 2 were being. Ayaka looked down in mute embarrassment, wanting to run out of the room. Aether wasn’t visible anymore, his body hidden entirely by the sofa.

“Haha, oh dear me. Hahaha forgive me for intruding.” He wiped his tears away from his eyes, walking back. “Do find me when you’ve finished, dear sister.”

Ayato closed the door behind him. Ayaka could still hear him chuckle to himself as her brother walked away into another room. She sat back down beside Aether, covering his face with his hands.

“Is he gone?”

“He is.”

Aether breathed a sigh of relief, his face still all red. Ayaka shared the same expression.

“Sorry about my brother. He has a tendency to forget to knock at times.”

“Hey, I have a sibling too. It’s not something uncommon.” He replied.

A moment of calming themselves down later (and telling Paimon to reappear to act as a guard for doors should it be needed), they walked out.

“So, what’s up with your brother?” Paimon asked.

“I have no idea, truth be told. He just called me and I don’t recall any pressing matters as of late, so maybe something new has come up.”

“Well, no time like the present to talk about it.” Aether replied, earning a nod from Ayaka.

He opened the door to the living room where Ayato was seated in one of the chairs, looking up from his book to meet their gaze.

“Ah, finally. Have a seat Ayaka, there’s something I’d like to ask of you.” He says, Ayaka nodding politely.

“I’ll wait back here.” Aether replied, turning away.

“One moment, Aether.” Ayato called from the room.

“Forgive me for taking your time, but the matter to which I would like to discuss also involves you. Do you mind joining us? Your fairy friend would be welcome as well.”

Ayaka looked at her brother curiously as she sat, Aether walking to them from the door with Paimon in tow.

“Oh? What manner of things could possibly involve us? Isn’t Inazuma peaceful already?” Paimon asked as Aether took a seat beside Ayaka (with respectful distance, of course).

“Well, yes. In fact, such peace is why your involvement is something I prefer.”

“Brother, wouldn’t you think it too much if we require him again for a larger matter?”

“Oh, no worries. I’d have nothing much to do. I don’t mind helping in the slightest.” Aether shrugged. Ayaka shot him a gentle smile, while Paimon enthusiastically nodded.

“No, actually, it’s not a long term issue. In fact, it should be just a one-day occasion involving you two.” Ayato added.

“Yesterday, Her Excellency sent a message to all current active commission heads for a meet up in the Tenshukaku tomorrow. The material at hand was to discuss the current conditions of the Tenryou and Kanjou commissions, as they’re instability is making it hard to move forward.”

“Oh, I see. But it doesn’t involve me nor the traveller, does it?” Ayaka asks.

“From a direct standpoint, yes, but the members are allowed to bring accompaniment that they deemed fit along. This is where I want both of your presence.”

“Wait. Wouldn’t it be unwise to present myself as part of a commission, despite being an outsider?”
“You’re perceptive, I like that. Yes, that is true, which is why I don’t intend to introduce you as a member of any commission, including the Yashiro’s. Your role in unravelling the plot surrounding the Fatui in Inazuma is, in its deepest roots, done by yourself under a neutral standpoint.”

Paimon tilted her head as she listened.

“So, I simply ask you to become a neutral witness to this meeting, where if any details would need to be stated, your presence would make matters quicker. Your fairy friend is always with you, so she would serve the same role here.”

Aether and Paimon nodded, now understanding what Ayato was leading up to.

“As for you, Ayaka. I simply wanted to invite you to come because you hadn’t ever had a chance to see a Tri-Commission meeting of this scale. I know you do not have as much of a heart in politics as the other commission heirs, and I do not resent that, but I think this is good for experience.”

“Plus, you do have a hand in the lead-up to the revelation of the Fatui plot in Inazuma through the traveller, so you could disclose some details should you see it fit to do so.”

“I will accept the invitation then, dear brother.” She bowed her head slightly. “Is there anything I need to prepare beforehand?”

“No, no, nothing at all. All of you need not prepare anything; your presence alone is enough.”

“Well, I think that’s all for now. Thank you for your time, traveller. I apologize for needing to pull you into this more.”

“It’s not a problem. I’d be happy to oblige.”

Ayato smiles. “If you three will excuse me, I have matters to attend to. The meeting is at noon tomorrow. Shall we meet here beforehand?”

Aether looks at Ayaka. She nods, and Paimon gives him a thumbs up.

“Sure. I’ll be here earlier.”

“Very well then, you have my gratitude. Until next time, traveller.”

Ayato walks through the room to leave, but pulls his sister in for a whisper.

“You caught a good one, dear sister. I may have to learn from you someday.” He says in a teasing tone, before chuckling as he walks away.

Ayaka’s face went red, steam pouring out of her as she wasn’t able to respond to her brother’s words.

“Ayaka? Are you okay? You look like you saw a ghost.” Aether asked her, concerned.

“O-oh. Ah It-It’s nothing. I need to go to the toilet.” she rushes off, leaving behind a confused Aether and an even more puzzled Paimon.

“What’s up with Ayaka?” Paimon asks.

“Beats me.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was morning the next day.

Ayaka and Aether could be found in the terrace of the Kamisato estate, with them enjoying a warm bowl of ramen. Paimon was off to the side, eating whilst chatting with Thoma about how to improve the recipe for Adeptus Temptation.

“Does it usually snow here?” Aether asks.

“Not so much. The weather gets colder, but snow doesn’t typically fall at all.” Ayaka replies. “However, the cold temperature does make harvest rates drop, so we’re stockpiling to counteract this lack of produce.”

Aether’s outfit was different this time around, due to the sudden drop in temperatures that day; he was wearing a long black kimono with a golden haori covering the top and his usual scarf present around his neck. Ayaka too wore a much more appropriate outfit, her warm gloves and thick long kimono providing her with warmth, her vision hanging on the side of her obi as an accessory.

They chatted idly whilst waiting for Ayato to walk to the Tenshukaku, the meeting set a little later. For now, they enjoyed some warm violet grass tea that Aether had brewed up.

“What do you think will be the outcome? I’m curious about your thoughts.” Ayaka asked Aether.

“I have no idea, honestly. I’m as blind as a bat in these regards since I’ve never really delved into Inazuma’s politics. I know the Shogun, but that’s about it.” Aether replies.

“By knowing her, you mean that you literally gave her a tour of her own city.” Paimon chimes in.

“Pfff, tell me about it.” Aether rolled his eyes. Ayaka chuckled.

“Ayaka? Traveller? Are you two ready yet?” Ayato asked, appearing from the estate.

Aether stood and bowed in greeting.

“Aether, please. Skip the formalities with me like you do with my sister.” He says, approaching them. Ayaka stood up as well.

“Well, we’re just about ready to go anytime.” she says.

“Then let us leave. Thoma, do take care while we’re out.” He says to Thoma, the housekeeper waving back from the garden as he trimmed a bush.

“Always working hard, as he has been.” Ayato says under his breath, walking out of the estate. Aether and Ayaka followed behind him, with Paimon in tow chewing on an apple.

“So, I heard at this time of the year, it’s still warm in Liyue?” Ayaka asks. Aether perks up. “Oh yes indeed. Liyue doesn’t get as cold as here, and the scenery there is something else.”

“I wish I could see it with my own eyes someday. I only ever see such things from paintings and literature.” Ayaka says, a little dejectedly.

“Well, there’s always time. I would happily help you there and guide you. Maybe we could go to Mondstadt too for that matter.” He replies. Ayaka’s mood visibly brightens at his appealing offer.

“Well, maybe. I guess I’d very much like a trip with you to see those nations, though as I’ve said, I hope you don’t mind being my guide.”

“Ayaka, I’d go with you to the other end of the world if that’s where you want to go.” He said, linking his arms with her. Ayaka reciprocated, leaning in onto him.

‘I wouldn’t want to take you off your journey though, so call me selfish, but I’d rather just follow you.” She replies.

He smiles, landing a soft kiss on her head. She blushes at the contact, but smiles anyway.

“Geez, you two. Get a room, we’re walking in public right now!”

Paimon’s sudden butt-in pulls them apart to a more ‘safe’ distance, apparent redness on both their faces.

“P-Paimon. Don’t surprise us like that.” Aether scolded his friend. Paimon folded her arms.

“Well, what is Paimon supposed to do, with you two being all mushy like that.”

“Hmm? Is something wrong?” Ayato turns around, making all 3 pause.

“No, it’s nothing, brother. Let’s continue.” Ayaka quickly responds, walking on.

Ayato smiles and continues as they reach the outskirts of Inazuma city, the shogunate guards welcoming their presence in the city. Though they wanted to stay stuck together, Aether and Ayaka kept a small distance between them, only their arms occasionally brushing together as they walked. They wanted to keep their relationship private somewhat for now from the general public, else she’d be bombarded with embarrassing questions about a new clan heir.

What they didn’t know was that rumors are already circling.

Something that neither Aether nor Ayaka knew was that Ayato was silently listening to their conversation earlier, where Ayaka clearly stated her mind. He knew of their relationship, and he fully supports it seeing how Aether was an excellent figure to accompany his sister. He really wished to allow his sister to see the world, and so he decided that if the meeting later yielded less workload, he’d send her off; maybe even get Aether to take her on a trip overseas.

The amount of guards patrolling the city and around the Tenshukaku was unreal; there looked like a whole new garrison was emplaced in the area. Every 10 meters had at least 2 to 3 men on patrol, whilst every stair, door, and bridge was guarded by sentries.

Archers lined the Tenshukaku’s walls, and more elite guards were stationed inside. Ayato took the lead to introduce them to the guards, before promptly being escorted up into the main building itself for the meeting.

The meeting has not started yet, but the situation inside the Tenshukaku was actually a little tense. The Hiiragi clan and Kujou clan are already on the table, the provisional clan head on the main seat whilst some other members stood a little further back. The door opened to allow Ayato, Ayaka, Aether, and Paimon in.

Ayato motioned the three to stand a little back as he took a seat and greeted the two other clans formally. Ayaka felt herself getting more nervous with the setup around her; the number of guards certainly wasn’t helping to calm her nerves.

A gentle hand on her shoulder however, did calm her down. “Hey, you’re shaking. Relax, take it easy, and breathe.” Aether whispered into her ear. Ayaka’s breathing slowed down, and she felt the tranquility of her soul return.

“I’m sure your brother won’t let the situation get out of hand here, if anything it would all be peaceful.” He reassures her. Ayaka exhales and smiles at him. “Yes, I do believe so. Thank you.”

Aether looked around the room. He gave a silent nod and a small wave when his gaze met Hiiragi Chisato’s gaze from across the room, the woman giving him a similar greeting. He also waved when Kujou Kamaji nodded to him from the main table, being the current acting head of the clan.

“Hmm. I’ll be right back.” He says, opting to leave the room. He saw a tea table outside and opted to get one for Ayaka and himself, seeing that the main table already had theirs. Ayaka nodded.

He turned outside and walked two steps when he ran into someone.

“Oh, Shogun! Good afternoon.” He bowed slightly to her. The Shogun looked him over, her usual stoic face on display.

“Good afternoon to you too, traveller. Are you here perhaps for the meeting too?” She asked, addressing him.

“Yes. I was called forth as a neutral witness for the occasion.”

“Very well. I’ll see to it that you get another seat at the table.” She turns to call a guard.

“No, wait. I can just stand, that won’t be necessary.” He said. The Shogun turns back to him. “Are you certain?”

“Yes, I’ll be fine. Thanks for the offer.”

“I commend your modesty. Very wall, I’ll see you inside.” She says, walking past him and into an adjacent room. He could hear some inaudible talking from his standpoint.

Aether quickly makes 3 glasses of drinks and walks back into the room, where some small talk is taking place between the guards. Paimon was conversing with Ayaka when Aether returned.

“Typically not. They’d usually wait a few days before- Oh, Aether. What’s that.”

“I got you some refreshments. Here.” He hands one to both Ayaka and Paimon.

“Thanks!”

“Thank you, Aether.”

“Don’t mention it.”

The room falls silent as the Shogun enters the room from one of the doors. Everyone drops what they’re doing and bows towards the Shogun, including Ayaka and Aether (carefully so as to not spill their tea). Paimon simply floats lower.

“Good afternoon, your Excellency!”
“Be at ease.” The Shogun seats herself elegantly on her seat, opening up the file on her table. “Well then, shall we begin gentlemen?”

Ayaka pays the main table her full attention, though sometimes it goes lost since she’s leaning slightly onto Aether unconsciously. Aether paid no mind, talking in a low voice to Paimon about the recently solved Bantan Sango case files that they cleaned up.

The meeting itself went without a hitch. The 2 other clans, Hiiragi and Kujou, are mostly still reforming and the Shogun has deemed them fit for duty for now, until a more stable position of Inazuma is reached before actual judgement on their misdeeds would be evaluated. This meant tasks could be handed over to them once again, ensuring that the Tri-commission affair would work as they were intended to.

Aether was called forth a few times regarding issues and ties with the Fatui. He gave a neutral standpoint as he addressed the room. From behind him, Ayaka can’t help but admire his form as he talks, the way he carries himself in such a formal situation is most endearing indeed. He’d make a great leader should the time ever come.

She had to throw her stare away from him when he turned to her, hiding the apparent pinkness on her face. Luckily, he never caught her staring.

An hour and a half passed when the meeting was completed. Aether left with the Kamisato siblings outside. He was trailing behind them talking to Paimon whilst Ayaka and Ayato conversed ahead of them.

“I don’t think they’ll think about starting another one anytime soon. The citizens prefer peace after all.”

“Paimon agrees. Between the war tearing the nation up, this is a much nicer change of pace.”

“Say, traveller.” Ayato turned to him.

“Yes?”

“I have some business to attend to right now. Could you do me a favour?”

“Uhm sure, what would it be.”

“Take my sister out to lunch for me. I’ll see you two back at the estate later.” He said, his face turning to one of smugness. Ayaka blinked rapidly at her brother’s sudden request towards Aether, whilst Aether simply blushed hard. Paimon held her hands in front of her mouth to stifle her laughter.

“I’d rather not intrude. Take care now.” He leaves them flabbergasted.

“B-Brother!” Ayaka managed to blurt out, earning a laugh from Ayato as he walked off.

“Sigh. Forgive him Aether. He can be a little mischievous at times.” Ayaka shook her head. Aether simply chuckled. “Well he meant the better for us, so I can’t exactly complain.”

“Enough talk! Paimon’s hungry. Shall we go find some lunch?”

“Hehe, that’d be a lovely idea.” Ayaka commented, taking her place beside him as they walked down the stairs into the city.

—---------------------------------------------------------
It was well into the afternoon when Aether and Ayaka had arrived back at her estate. Paimon excused herself to his teapot, no doubt now already snoozing her lunch off. Both Aether and Ayaka were sharing a large drink with one straw on top.

“Thanks for accompanying me for today, as always.” Ayaka said to him.

“Anything for you. You have things to do, I assume?”

Ayaka looks down, a little displeased. “Yes, I believe so. I need to refresh my duties for the commission since the meeting had a reshuffle of the assigned tasks. I’ll have to ask my brother about it.”

“Well, it’s a pity but I’ll still visit whenever I have the time.” Aether smiles. “Okay, I guess I’ll see you when I see you.”

He pulls her in for a hug, and she nuzzles her face into him. “I’ll see you.”

They detach after a short while and Aether waves as he walks off, Ayaka opening the door to her estate as she waves him off, and enters.

‘It certainly feels emptier here now without him. Oh well, I’ll have to see him again soon.’ She thinks to herself. As she walks into her brother’s study, she finds him scribbling down some words onto a piece of paper. He looks up as she enters.

“Good evening, brother.”

“Good evening to you too. I trust you had fun?”

“You can say that.”

“Well, I’m certainly glad you had fun.”

“As always. Are the list of things we have to do already ready?”

“Ah, yes indeed. I've already split the workload up this time into more internal and external affairs.”

“Oh? Is it necessary to do so?” Ayaka was hoping she’d split the workload more. Her brother merely chuckled.

“Yes, for this instance I feel it is required of me to do so.”

“Very well then.” Ayaka knew better than to distrust her brother’s judgement. “May I?”

“Sure.” He handed her a file. “Here’s the list of things I’ve assigned you.”

Ayaka opened the file, her mind already wondering how busy she’ll be in the upcoming week or perhaps months if it drags on.

Therefore, it’s only natural for her face to morph into a look of confusion upon opening the file. Ayato paid close attention to his sister’s reaction as she flipped the file’s pages, quickly shuffling to the very end. She looked up to him, question marks all over her face.

“What’s the meaning of this?” She asked him, her tone questioning him. Ayato raised an eyebrow.

“What does it look like? The tasks for you to do are all there.”

Ayaka flipped open the file again, making sure to check all the pages. She turned it around so that her brother had a good look into the file.

“Brother, it’s blank.”

“Mhm?”

“There’s nothing here. Surely you gave me the wrong file.”

“Well, my dearest sister. I’ve double checked the file before I handed it to you, and I do believe I gave you the right one.”

Ayaka’s face got more confused. “Huh?”

“There’s no mistake sister. The files which I write down all tasks to be passed to you the upcoming month are in your hands.”

“But-but. It’s empty. Surely you don’t mean?”

“Yes I do mean it.” He turns to her.

“Ayaka, I’ve been meaning to give you some time off for a while now.”

“Wait, under what circumstance?”

“Hehe, it’s so like you to question when you’re given a luxury. Mother raised you well, I see.”

Ayato stood and walked to the balcony. Ayaka joined him, standing behind him.

“Like I’ve said, you’ve done a lot for Inazuma. The whole affair about the vision hunt decree? I know of your involvement in the affair, and how you’ve indirectly led to its end. I was honestly amazed, even to this day, that you pulled off such a feat without much involvement from anyone else, including from me.”

“You’ve worked hard these recent times, and although the workload has most certainly been reduced due to the peace, I still think you require some time off.”

He turned to Ayaka, who was simply staring at him.

“Sister, you deserve some days off, and since the upcoming schedules are mostly reduced to simple housework and minor cases, I see it fit for you to earn yourself some empty days. Thus why the folder in your hands is empty.”

Ayaka looked between him and the file.

“Don’t fret about it too much, there’s not much on my plate as well.”

“But brother, I don’t intend to be ungrateful, but is it wise for me to do so? To be a commission member, people would resent me if they suddenly saw me with a lot of time on my hands whilst others are busy. Not to mention the name of our clan that we had fixed to this point, wouldn’t it be a waste?”

“I foresaw you being concerned about it, therefore I already have an idea to address that.”

“Eh?”

“You wanted a vacation outside of Inazuma, no? With that wonderful traveller of yours too.”

Ayaka immediately went red, looking down. “Y-you heard us?”
“Dear sister, you should know my ears are sharper than that.”

Ayaka felt the embarrassment burn her insides.

“Haha, enough of that. Yes, I know of your wishes, and I do wish to see them fulfilled. You could leave and it’d be easy to cover it as a necessary trip. Plus, you’d be bringing the name of Inazuma elsewhere, which is something I'd find endearing.”

Ayaka looked up to her brother. She admired his open-mindedness for this matter, at how he saw things. “Are you most certain about this?”

“Yes, I am, Ayaka. I don’t wish to hold you back from your wishes, and if anything it’s my wish to see them fulfilled. You always wanted to see the world with your own eyes, so why not start now?”

Ayaka smiled, rushing over to hug her brother. He nearly toppled at the unexpected hug, his sister reminding himself again how strong she actually is.

“T-thank you, I’ll be sure to repay your kindness.” She says, a happy tear on her face.

“You’re most welcome Ayaka. Now hurry along and go tell Aether about your availability. I’m sure he’d be happy to take you to see the world. Just do inform me of your departure. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll join you for a trip.”

“Hehe, brother, you are truly too kind.” Ayaka replies, loosening her grip on him.

“Says the person who I refer to as the most selfless soul on Teyvat. I’ll be seeing you later then.”

Ayaka jumps back, heading to the door. She gave Ayato a large smile and an elegant wave before closing the door. Ayato chuckles to himself, looking up to the sky with a smile plastered across his face.

“It isn’t just my wish, Ayaka. If only Mother and Father could witness this.”
