Work Text:

The two boys adjourned from the party to complete the task set by the daremaster. The portrait door shut with a clang behind them.

"Last one there's a Hippogriff!" Sirius black hollered sprinting off down the corridor.

Remus took off "No fare you got a head start!" He lost sight of Sirius as he rounded a corner.

The pounding of their feet echoed on the stone door. "No running in the corridor!" A portrait smoking a pipe yelled. Remus paid no heed increasing speed. Filch be damn! he wasn't about to let Sirius Black win. He just caught sight of his long hair swinging majestically, when he stopped.

Sirius paused at the banister to the stairwell and turned, flashing a boyish grin that always made Remus's heart jump. He transformed into Padfoot. The four legged beast climbed the banister and leaped down two flights of stairs.

"Well that's just cheating." Remus said, stopping to catch his breath.

He chased Sirius down the stairs through the door and out onto the lawn moving down to the great lake. Sirius was already out on the pier removing his robe and undershirt. He was little more than a shadow in the night but Sirius's pale skin flashed bright as he tossed aside his last layer of clothing.

"Damn you Lily Evens" Remus muttered to himself, mouth going dry. He had a lovely view of Sirius's arse as the bold fool jumped into the murky water.

The boards squeaked as Remus reached the end of the dock and looked down at the boy in the water.

"I believe the dare was that I had to streak in the lake." Remus taunted.

"What kind of friend would I be if I didn't join you?"

"Just showing solidarity?" Remus mused

"Exactly, now come on."

Remus turned around conscious of Sirius's eyes on him. Kicking off his shoes his heart seemed to pound louder as he pulled off his robes, shirt and trousers until Remus stood barefoot in his boxers.

"Mooney . . . I'm waiting"

The cool night air gave him goosebumps on his exposed skin. He couldn't do it. Not in front of Sirius. Gryffindor courage be damned. He was a coward. In one move Remus turned and jumped into water, splashing waves over Sirius.

It wasn't deep Remus quickly felt his feet hit the bottom and pushed up towards the surface. In an instant Sirius was on him. Wrestling like a pup.

"Mooney you cheated! Take them off!" He yelled with a grin. They grappled in shallow water as Sirius attempted to grab his waist.

"You mad dog!" Remus laughed pushing him back. "Get off!"

"I'm fulfilling my duties as Witness! It's the dare! You have too!" They splashed with high spirits, rough housing like they hadn't since third year.

Remus had the advantage of size. He managed to cease Sirius's wrists in his large hands holding them together.

It was quiet for a moment as the water stilled. Remus could hear the slowing pants as Sirius caught his breath. His cheeks were flushed red from the chilly lake. What little moonlight they had glissined on Sirius's wet strands of hair. One lock stuck to the boy's lips right above his chin. Shifting his hold to one hand Remus brushed the hair away with his finger tips. His soft lips fell open with the contact. He was so carelessly beautiful.

"You refused the dare." Sirius spoke softly. "By the rules set forth by the game you have to answer three truths."

"Fine" Remus replied, the game far from his mind.

Sirius grinned mischievously.

"Did you set off a dung bomb on me in the shower last week?"

Remus erupted in giggles. "Yes but,"

"I knew it! You said it was Peter!"

"Yes, but it was an accident. I was trying to leave to give you privacy and it fell out of my bathrobe!"

"Why did you have a dungbomb in your bathrobe? No no no! That's not my question!"

"You already asked, can't take it back."

"I know-I know but please! I had a better one."

"Go on then," like Remus could ever deny him anything.

"Will you let my arms go?"

"No, they're mine." Remus tugged his arms playfully. "Was that your question?"

"No."

"You're on thin ice, Black."

"No, my question is," he paused, seeming to steel himself. "Do you like boys?"

Remus smirked, nodding slowly. He could see a glint of hope in Sirius's familiar eyes.

"My third question is–"

"Third? More like fifth." Sirius pulled his arms in fast, forcing Remus in close to keep his grip. Their hands pressed tightly between their chests.

"Do you want to kiss me?" He asked like a dare before Insecurity fell on his face; a sight few were every privy too. Sirius Black, king of Hogwarts left vulnerable as his question hung in the air like frosted exhale.

There was only one way Remus could respond. He released Sirius's hands. He wanted to do this properly. Remus ran his thumb up along his jawline. He cupped the back of Sirius's neck as he gently pressed their lips together. It was better then the time they sett off a whizbang under McGonagall's desk. Remus no longer felt the chill of the water, only Sirius freed hands wrapping around his bare back, and opened his mouth for more.

"For years, I've wanted to kiss you for years." Remus answered after several moments.

"Coward" Sirius mumbled, not willing to stop.

Remus pulled him tighter in the murky lake. Something stiff pressed temptingly against his waist. He felt a cold shiver run down Sirius's body. "We need to get out of the water."

"Not yet" Sirius whispered, fingering the elastic lining of Remus's only remaining garment.

*"By the time both boys returned to the room, the majority of the room was drunk past the point of noticing both Lupin and Black displayed the signs of recent drying charms."
