The buildings towered above. No longer the magnificent structures of the past, they had crumbled, turned to ruin. The city used to be full of colour, but not anymore. Once bright reds and greens had dulled in the near constant sunlight and the whites were almost brown. Years of dirt had grime had built up on every surface, no was around to clean it. It seemed at one point that nature had attempted to claim the city as its own but the way the ivy crumbled when a gust of wind blew spoke of its failure. There were no animals here, in the city. Many had perished in the heat and the few that survived fled, in search of a better place. The bricks that paved the roads were cracked and dry, each crevice sending out a dust cloud with every step. There was not a cloud in the sky above, but instead of a blue sky it was a dusty yellow, unnatural.
Footsteps echoed through the streets, an unusual sound disturbing the morbid silence of the city. A figure raced around the corner, clothes flowing behind him. He was tall and skinny, almost too skinny, and had dark hair that came down to his shoulders. Sweat dripped down his face mixing with the dirt and grime smeared all over it. His clothes were ripped and splattered with a weird, fluorescent blue liquid. The teenager – for that is what he seemed to be – kept glancing behind him as though he was being chased. When seeing no one he stopped to take a breath and look around properly. He studied each building carefully, he seemed to be thinking deeply about each, and read the road signs trying to find out where he was. A loud roar startled him out of him thoughts.
A being came out from the same corner the boy had. It was a humanoid creature but was strange in many ways. It was far too tall to be human – almost 8 ft – and its skin was nothing human at all. It was scaly and red, and the creature was far muscular than any bodybuilder could hope to be. It wore some kind of armour made of a metal that was certainly not found on earth. It carried a sword almost 5 feet long and that seemed sharp enough to slice through the air around it. It let out a cry when it saw the boy and started to charge right towards him, arm outstretched, sword in hand…
