Rin realized her best friend was oblivious to all things romance . No matter how hard she flirted with her or made sexual comments, Miku was none the wiser at the obvious hints. The most Rin has ever achieved from her helpless pining was making Miku blush from time to time. To make maters worse MIku was dating her idiotic twin brother, Len. Unfortunately for her brother that was all going to change tonight. Rin had finally convinced Miku to come to the bar with her for a girls night out, and get away from all the stresses of life. Little did Miku know that her love life was going to be turned upside down.
It was 8pm on a cool Saturday when the girls had arrived at the bar. Their outfits were chic, and their makeup was delicately placed onto their smooth faces. It was the perfect night to get totally wrecked. They started off slow, only ordering a bottle of wine for them to share but as the night continued, more and more drinks were ordered. The more they drank, the more loose with their words they became.
Leaning on each other and giggling, they made crude jokes about their life. Miku ranted and continuously talked poorly of Len, claiming he was a “pathetic excuse for a lover”. Of course, Rin was overjoyed to hear Mikus' woes over her love rival. It was the perfect opportunity to make her move. The only problem that was in her way now was Miku’s oblivious nature.
Rin’s first move was to be 100% clear what her intentions were. With that in mind, Rin leaned in close and said she would be a much better partner then Len would ever be. Miku awkwardly laughed at the suggestion, as her cheeks burst with color. Rin smirked to herself at Miku’s reaction, knowing that there was most certainly something more.
The night continued on with Rin consistently making Miku more antsy then she has ever been before. Perhaps it was the alcohol making them act so odd, or maybe Rin’s sneaky mind tricks were working to her favor. The more Rin hinted and teased, the more Miku became fidgety. Her eyes would dart when Rin started her in the eyes, and her palms became slick with sweat when Rin would lean onto her shoulder.
As the night was starting to come to a close, all that her mind was filled with was Rin. Miku didn’t even want to come home to Len, but she wants to stay here. With Rin. Although she was drunk, her logic wasn’t completely wrecked. She knew she could end up destroying Rin’s and her twin’s relationship by going out with her behind Len’s back. It wouldn’t be fair to him. Cheating was wrong, Miku told herself. Although, heading out with Rin was sounding extremely tempting.
At 1AM Rin kindly invited her to her small studio apartment down the street, slurring her words as she talked about her place. With Miku’s mind hazy and her heart beating, she reluctantly agreed, hugging onto Rin's thick sweatshirt.
On their evening walk they stumbled their way to the tiny home with empty bottles loosely being held in their hands. Miku leaned onto Rin for support, her legs buckling under her. As they came closer and closer to Rin’s apartment, Miku continued to have doubts about her relationship with both Len and Rin. As much as she cared about Len, she never saw him in a romantic light.
Miku felt wracked with guilt as her mind processed what she had done. Not only was she lying to Len, she was lying to herself as well. By the time Miku had reached Rin’s humble abode, she had erupted into tears, sobbing into Rins chest. Apologies frantically left her lips as Rin gently stroked her hair.
“I’m so sorry Rin! I’ve been such a shitty person to both you and Len!”
Rin continued to stroke Miku’s hair, telling her none of it was her fault. Even if Miku has left her as a hopeless romantic for so many years. It was alright. Even if Miku will never love her back, she would always follow her behind like her loyal puppy.
Rin lifted Miku’s head, tears still pricking the tips she leaned down and softly kissed her. Much to Rin’s surprise, Miku kissed back with force. Rin leaned more into Miku, toppling her over. Miku tears were no longer there, and were now replaced with the sweetest blush she had ever seen. Miku’s radiant blue eyes shone in the moonlight, awkwardly looking away from Rin’s stunned face. Rin leaned closer, whispering sweet nothing into Mikus' red tipped ears.
“I think we should stop Rin… Len is expecting me home and you know how he gets.”
Miku got up and gently pushed Rin off of her. Rin looked up at her as she walked to the door. Rin’s once hopeful expectations had been crushed.
“Miku, do you love me then? Does this mean anything to you at all?”
Miku started back at Rin and sighed. Miku did love Rin, and she always has. Why she was even with Len was the question. Who knows.
“I don’t want to leave Rin, but he's waiting for me at home. Maybe, we can do something together soon. Next time will be better, Rin. “
With those final words she left the apartment complex, leaving Rin without a chance. Even if Rin’s heart was continuously teased, it didn’t matter. She knew Miku loved her. Even if it took forever, Rin would wait for Miku. She would continue to be her idiotic brothers love rival.
