Papá Noel,
¿How are you? ¿How are your elves and reindeer? They must be very tired after working all year to make toys and fly. If you want, I can ask my dad to make extra treats for them as a thank you. For Christmas ¿can I please have new markers? My brother Luke left my old ones out and now they don’t work which is why I had to write this with a boring pencil. Thank you and ¡Feliz Navidad!

My birthday is the day after Christmas. Would you be able to come to my birthday party? I know you are really busy but if you came you would not have to do anything, you could just come and eat some cake, no presents or anything. I think it would be a good day off for you. That is the only thing that I want for Christmas except maybe a little car that you sit and drive around in.

However, the reindeer and sleigh are always very worn out after delivering presents all night, so they would probably fall asleep on the way to your party! My name is Rachelle Evans and I am 9 years old. For Christmas I told my family that I wanted a Lovely Lulu doll set, but I actually don’t want that. Can I please have a suit of armor like the knights wear in stories? That way I can play with my brothers when they fight dragons instead of having to be the princess. Thank you for being so honest in your letter. I know it is hard sometimes to go to school or eat food you don’t like, but those things definitely do not put someone on the naughty list! I can tell you have been a very good boy this year because you are trying and you take care of your sister – those are the sorts of things that Santa loves to see! I will make sure that Santa gets both you and Farah some perfect gifts this year. Also, thank you for such a lovely picture; you both have the same brilliant smile! Are you Santa? You write back every year and I always assumed you were but my cousin said that because you were so busy then it’s probably an elf who helps to write back. If you are an elf then what is your name? Do you have elf names like Winky and Jingle or do you have normal names like Franz and Annelise? Also, if you are Santa, is it just you and the elves who live at the North Pole? I know you have Mrs. Claus but it must get very cold and lonely. If you ever need a friend then I would definitely come visit you! For Christmas can I please get a pet? A puppy or kitty would be really nice but if you can’t then a fish or something is good too. Maybe we can all visit the North Pole together!!

Glaedelig Jul, and thank you for all of your questions! It is so wonderful to see your belief and curiosity in Santa and everyone at the North Pole. We have many elves helping to answer Santa’s letters, but don’t worry – all requests get back to him personally in time for Christmas. The elves here have all sorts of names, but I haven’t met any with names like Winky or Jingle. Yes, Santa lives at the North Pole with his family and all of the elves, but there are so many of us that it is never lonely. Plus, getting nice letters like yours always puts a smile on our faces! I will be sure to let Santa know about your request for a pet; I’m sure that you will take great care of it, no matter what. Have a very Merry Christmas!

I know you probably get this a lot but are you really real? My mum says you are but I’ve tried to stay up every Christmas and I never see you. Do you wear a disguise or go invisible? Also why do you wear red if you don’t want people to see you? Couldn’t you just wear whatever you want? Can I please have a nice new Christmas sweater? I am going to leave out my favorite sweater from last year because I don’t fit it anymore; please give it to one of your elves, because it is probably very cold at the North Pole and my sweater is very warm.

I’m so glad that you like Christmas sweaters – I like them too, and I’m sure the elves will appreciate your present to them! I will be sure that you get the most festive sweater we have at the North Pole. The reason that you never see Santa delivering gifts is because the elves are very good at doing their job and help him drop them off very quickly. But he is most certainly real, and he cares about every single child in the world: including you. Never stop believing in him, because he will always be sure to be there for you, no matter what. PS, Yes, Santa and his family have all lived at the North Pole for many years. Saint Nicholas was the very first Santa, but the title has been passed down many times since then. It’s a very important job; I would say that it is the best job in the world :)
