Work Text:
It started because Sam loved to annoy Bucky. (He couldn’t help it, really, because it was just so easy.) Before a mission one day, Sam had placed a wet smack on Bucky’s forehead before jumping straight out of a plane. For good-luck, he’d said. It irritated Bucky enough that Sam kept doing it, mission after mission.
Eventually, the forehead kisses turned into a brush of lips to Bucky’s temple, his nose, his cheeks. Sam didn’t know when Bucky started leaning into it, tilting his head so Sam could easier press those kisses onto his face.
Sam didn’t know, either, when he began to want. Want to share physical affection, to hug Bucky, to feel what his lips felt like, to wake up in the mornings with him… Regardless of when it did start, Sam eventually realized one thing: He and Bucky were reading the same book, but Bucky had always been a few chapters ahead.
