Work Text:
Majima had left the dance floor before Kiryu. The gang leader said he was fine and Kiryu was inclined to believe him. They had already fought many times and even when Majima lost he always seemed to get back up no problem. He was going to follow the other out not wanting to stay in the club longer than he needed too. But he saw something shiny on the ground and instead stopped to pick it up, it was another one of those locker keys. Pocketing and making a reminder to himself to stop by the lockers now that he had so many keys he was interested in what he would find.
Kiryu strolled out of the club and into the streets humming the song that Majima was dancing to when he had some in. It was something Cinderella, he would have to remember to look it up after.
Looking left and then right to make sure there were no thugs around. Kiryu really did try and avoid them but it was like he was a magnet for fights. Instead of taking Main Street he turned up the alley and walked towards the closest market. He had a craving for some pork buns. That's when he heard a hiss coming from behind one of the large piles of trash. Cursing his curious nature and deeply unresolved hero complex Kiryu walked closer to the sound.
There behind the trash was Majima in all of his disco ball reflective glory. The ankle that he said was fine was stretched out and Majima had his eyes closed and head tilted back. It may be one of the only times Kiryu would see the other this peaceful.
“Hey, I thought you were heading out. I didn’t think you meant sleeping behind the building.” Kiryu called out, still several feet away. Just because Majima seemed hurt didn’t mean the other couldn’t still fight back on reflex.
“Ah, Kiryu-Chan you found me! It’s almost like you have a radar for me.” More like the other way around Kiryu thought to himself as he took a couple steps closer.
“Don’t worry about me Kiryu-Chan,” Majima tried to wave him off, “I will be fine, see.”
Majima tried to step up but not only did he clutch his side he stumbled on the hurt ankle. Kiryu reached out to stabilize the other but his hands were batted away. Majima decided using the wall would be better. “You don’t seem fine.” Kiryu's eyes strayed to the hand clutching his side.
“Old wounds.” Ah, when he protected Kiryu from that blow from one of his own men. Kiryu was still surprised that Majima jumped in front of him. The other never gave a full reason why just played it off with jokes.
Kiryu sighed and turned away from him and crouched. “Come on the least I can do is get you to the pharmacy.”
It was silent behind him like Majima was trying to make a difficult decision. But then he felt arms wrap around his shoulders and legs wound around his waist. Kiryu stood up and started walking, allowing the silence to drape over them. This was probably embarrassing for Majima accepting help from someone who has been banned from the family.
“You think too loud Kiryu-Chan.” Majima laughed out loud. The other squirmed on his back whatever fabric his outfit was made of making a sound just so he can relinquish an arm and knock on his head.
“Ah.” Kiryu replied.
Majima settled back to his original position. The trek to the pharmacy wasn’t too long. Kiryu’s hands gripped the other man's legs so he wouldn’t fall.
“I know you don’t like to accept it,” Majima always played off Kiryu's thank yous, “But I really am grateful for you helping me train my body back to top form.”
“Maa maa Kiryu-Chan I told you once before that it’s all purely selfish. Fighting you when you are at your best is the only thing I can ask for.” It was said directly into his ear, Kiryu didn’t even realize that Majima laid his head on his shoulder like that. “Well that goes for you as well. Make sure you’re all healed up before really challenging me.”
They made it to the pharmacy and Majima slid slowly off his back. They face each other in the streets and a solemn look on both of their faces. Then Majima’s grin and laughter were back, “Of course! Only the best for my Kiryu-Chan.”
“Now get going, I’m sure my men will be dropping by soon and I don’t think you want another fight.” Majima then limped his way into the pharmacy with Kiryu watching.
Kiryu just smiled at his acquaintance/friend/rival? He honestly wasn’t sure how he would classify Majima but he was happy that the man was in his life.
