They can't get you here

Summary:

Gregory has a small breakdown after getting out of the daycare, Freddy tries to calm him down.

Notes:

It's 6 in the morning but I can't stand that there are so few fanfics on these two right (Give me my father/son bonding) So I came out and wrote this.
I'm totally going to have to check this over for spelling errors in the morning though.

Work Text:

Gregory still can't seem to understand how he got into this mess. Sure, he could guess that what he did wasn't a good thing to do, but he was hungry and he just wanted to see the animatronics. So he thought he could get in and leave before anyone noticed, he has already known that getting caught, especially with whatever was going on, might mean him getting chased, but this just felt…like way too much.
It was too much for him.

His hands are shaking, and sometimes he swears he can still see Moondrop out of the corner of his eye, it makes him whimper at the thought of seeing that red-eyed demon again after what he went through in the daycare. He's stumbling his way through a hallway now, Glamrock Freddy at his side now that they've met up again.

“Gregory, how are you holding up?” Freddy's soft voice brings him out of his thoughts, and he has to remind himself that he needs to pay attention to his surroundings, knowing that Chica could be anywhere nearby.

Freddie’s footsteps clank against the tiled floor, but he's being careful to not alert anyone that might be nearby, the animatronic looks at him, turning his whole body towards him as he does.

“Fine…I’m-I’m fine,” Gregory whispers, he has to hold his breaths in, stop himself from freaking out, he has to keep reminding himself that.

There's a few moments of silence before Freddy speaks.

“You appear to be in distress Gregory,"

For some reason, it makes him angry as if anyone else would be taking this any better than he is right now.

“We-We need to find a way out, I don't-I really don't want to be here anymore,” He has cough as his words get choked, and it feels like he's shaking is getting worse as he tries to focus on the shiny tiles in front of him.

“Yes, I know, I will get you out Gregory, I'm so sorry that this has happened, I did not know they would try and hurt you,"

“At least you're helping me” Gregory has to tell himself as he leans against the wall for a second, messing with the bandaid he has on his face. He lets out deep breaths, eyes wandering the hallway filled with the other animatronics posters.

“Gregory, it's okay, relax superstar,” if a voice could be described as caring, Gregory thinks this is what it would sound like, he slumps forward a bit, enough to feel the tightness of his now shaking shoulders.

Freddy kneels, the reflection of the light glinting off his metal as he raises one of his arms in front of Gregory, almost as if he was trying to shield him.
The child looks down at his hands, there are more cuts and scrapes on him, some from before he got into the building, others definitely from inside. There's some on his palm and fingers, some starting to bleed and some raw from how many things he's had to grab while running.

“Can you hear me, Gregory, do you want to sit down?” The words are enough to bring the child to tears, the way that Freddy slowly grabs his wrist to gain his attention, touching him almost like he was glass-like he was fragile.
A few tears slid down his face, dripping off his chin and onto the tiles. Freddy looks up alarmed, animatronic eyes quickly wandering to look for anything wrong.

“I just-,” the child hiccups, more tears escaping, he curls further into himself letting out a quiet sob, “I’m so scared Freddy,” He can't stop the sobs now, ones that get choked up in his throat and make it burn, "I want-I want to go home!"

There's clanking as Freddy moves closer, the heat of the animatronic radiating off the metal. “I’m so sorry Gregory, but I promise I won't leave you alone, we'll get you out of this,” Freddy tries to reassure him as he finally brings the crying child into a hug.
The hug is softer than he thought it would be, Gregory thinks to himself, the pressure does comfort him as he lets out ragged breaths, his blurry vision not clearing no matter how many times he tries to blink it away, only succeeding in making more tears.

“I won't let anyone hurt you, can you breathe with me? Like this,” Freddy makes dramatic breaths, waiting until Gregory follows along before continuing, "Good, you're doing really good superstar!" Freddy rubs small circles into his back, waiting until he stops sobbing before carefully pulling the crying child away from him.

"Nobody will hurt when I am here, I promise you,"

Gregory lets out another hiccup before he uses his hand to wipe away the now drying tears on his cheeks.
He trusts Freddy, he’ll get out of this okay. He has to trust Freddy, without him he doesn't know how he's going to get out of here in one piece.
he can only hope that it doesn't get worse.
