Work Text:

Technoblade and himself, Sam ponders, and very similar yet very different.

Sam’s aware, to some extent, of Sam Nook, his… alter ego? Nook’s him, but not him. Nook has different thoughts, feelings, and most importantly, relationships with others on the SMP.

Technoblade, oddly enough, is one of said relationships.

Sam was conscious of this conversation, but couldn’t take part. No, it was Nook in control.

Technoblade looked at him (them?) strangely. “You’re Nook, aren’t you?” he asked.

Nook took out his communicator and typed out, “YES, I AM SAM NOOK. WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE?”

“Just… curiosity.” Technoblade glanced around, checking to see if there were others watching. “You know of Sam, yeah? The guy who normally inhabits this body?”

“SAM? I AM SAM NOOK.”

“But what about yesterday, you weren’t here, Sam was.”

“YESTERDAY I WAS AT THE INNIT HOTEL, HELPING TOMMY.”

Technoblade furrowed his brows. “Uh, no, the last time you did that was weeks ago, I’m positive.”

“YOU ARE WRONG.”

Technoblade lifted his hands up in placation. “Alright, whatever you say. But, Sam,” he continued, looking past Nook, and into Sam, “if you ever need help, know that I’m here, and I’ve experienced something very similar.”

Nook did not move until Technoblade left. When he finally did, this is what he wrote: “SAM. I AM NOT JUST A VOICE IN YOUR HEAD.”

“I know,” Sam told him, “You’re a demon who possesses me. And I’m fearful of telling anyone the truth because of what might happen.”

“I AM NO DEMON. I CARE ABOUT TOMMY, SAME AS YOU. TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE THIS WORK.”

If Sam were in control of his body, he would bite his lip. He was unsure, but ultimately, he knew cooperation was the only answer. “Okay, together.”
