Chapter 1: Not the Night for a Party

Summary:

Suguru get's overwhelmed at a club and Satoru's there to help (a little bit)(he does his best)
(it's mostly just Suguru being overwhelmed, bc I wrote this to cope when I was - you guessed it - overwhelmed)
(no smut) (also not canon compliant, no curses)

Chapter Text

It was so loud. So, so loud. He’d been trying to hold it together for the past thirty minutes but it was like the place kept getting louder. It was all he could do to sit still and focus on staring at the table in front of him, with all the discarded and forgotten cups whose contents quivered along to the bass of the unbearable music.

Usually, he liked partying. Of course he did, he wouldn’t be there right now if he didn’t. But tonight had turned sour for him before he even got there. He hadn’t been having the best day anyway, so Satoru invited him out for a fun night and he reluctantly agreed. Of course that wasn’t what he actually needed to calm down from his shit day, he didn’t operate like Satoru did and he would much rather be at home showering and reading. So he was off to a bad start to begin with, then when he got there, the music damn near blew his ears out; he would have turned around and walked out if it hadn’t been for Satoru’s grip on his arm. Then, as he expected, Satoru ran off after five minutes. Usually he didn’t mind because he would find something or someone to occupy himself, but tonight he wasn’t in the mood to shout over music; or to have his whole skeleton vibrate.

So now it was about all he could do not to lose his shit. His leg bounced quickly, drilling the floor, as he briefly scanned the area. A group of rather noisy drunks stumbled past, howling with laughter and stumbling all over the place. Suguru ground his teeth and waited for them to pass before finally getting up and stalking over to the bathroom he’d been eyeing since he got there.

At least it was open. It was the type of bathroom for a single person to use at once, not one with stalls. The music was still loud but it was a little muffled, a little better than out there. He locked the door quickly and sighed, walking over to the counter. He washed his hands, glad the water was cold, but really just let the water run over them; it had been hot out there, too. Eventually he dried his hands off and sighed, pulling out his phone. He leaned on the wall heavily and busied himself on his phone, mostly texting Shoko and scrolling through Twitter.

Interestingly enough, a text from Satoru buzzed through.

Where’d you go :(   It read.

Suguru scoffed slightly at the question, usually Satoru didn’t text him at parties unless he was ready to leave and couldn’t find Suguru; or if his attempt at a hook up failed and he wanted a rebound off of Suguru.

Bathroom. Suguru responded curtly.

It didn’t take long for the door handle to rattle. Suguru ground his jaw, not really up for dealing with the probably drunk Satoru; or worse, someone else out there. But the knocking was relentless. Suguru let it bubble up inside him until it felt like he was going to explode, then waited a second longer until he pushed himself off the wall. He ripped the door open a little harshly and was met with a mildly-intoxicated Satoru.

“Why’re you hiding in the bathroom?” Satoru whined slightly. “It’s so fucking loud out there.” Suguru growled, rolling his eyes. “Well, yeah, it’s a party.” Satoru chuckled slightly “I’m going home. I’ll see you later.” Suguru huffed and pushed past the other. “Wait- what? Why?” Satoru frowned, trailing after Suguru. “Because I'm tired. You can stay and have fun, I’m going.” Suguru waved him away slightly. Satoru glanced around briefly before catching up with Suguru. Suguru looked over at him, confused. “You’re not staying?” Suguru asked. Satoru shook his head and shrugged. “Why bother?” He chuckled slightly.

They pushed open the door and cool air washed over Suguru, he sighed slightly. The door closed and it was like they were in another world. There was no table-shaking bass or stifling heat anymore, the only sounds were the cars driving past. He pulled his cigarettes from his pocket and lit one quickly, relieved when Satoru didn’t say anything about it.

They walked quietly for a while, Suguru just puffing on his cigarette. “You okay now?” Satoru asked after a moment, peering down at Suguru. “Huh? I'm fine.” Suguru nodded. “You sure?” Satoru hummed. “Yeah, I'm fine.” Suguru sighed. "If you say so." Satoru huffed.
