Rivals of Many

Summary:

Rivalries are a special sort of relationship.
And in a group of four, there are all different sorts of rivalries.
Some of them sarcastic, some of them friendly, and some of them that solely revolve around competitiveness and competition.
Technoblade, Fruitberries, Dream, and Illumina all have different rivalries that revolve around each other.
Some more... interesting than others.

But, in the end, they will always be there for each other. No matter the rivalry. Because in the end... they are all just friends (though when put into those terms, you might want to watch out... some of them would rather commit a murder than admit to 'friendship.')

:)

Notes:

Sarcastic Rivalry:
A rivalry in which both members are always being sarcastic with each other, making dick-ish jokes, but deep down they are really envious of each other. Their rivalry brings out the best in both, making them an unstoppable duo when teamed up.

Chapter 1: Sarcastic Rivalry

Chapter Text

It is true that one of the most feared names in the Minecraft Universe was the all-seeing, Sun-Tzu quoting, potato-war winning, orphan-stabbing, Technoblade.

He was so feared that full teams of powerful people would avoid him while he was solo. Not daring to even send a tempting glance his way. Even if it was considered an unfair fight in a 4v1.

The ‘most feared’ is a fitting title for the pig.

With a single stick and two iron ingots, a blood bath could be created. The way that he handles his sword with so much delicacy, like it is his own hand cutting through enemies on the battlefield. And although lacking charisma and sporting a very… questionable sense of humor, he still is one of the scariest people to ever walk the Earth.

So much that Dream felt his blood boil as he slammed his axe down onto a shield, splintering the wood in the slightest.

Dream was currently sparring with said ‘most-feared’ in a battle of who would break first. This time they weren’t going for kills, this time it was a game of stamina. A test of endurance.

And fortunately for Dream, endurance happens to be one of his best-friends. And currently, if it could ever take a physical form, he would kiss it.

The pig lets out a grunt as Dream slams his axe down, the pig forced to counter it with his own, the metal-against-metal making a loud screech that made them both wince slightly.

These fights had been going on for a solid 5 hours now, neither men willing to back down or give in to the other’s consistent attacks.

“You know, maybe if you hit my shield one more time –“ he paused to jump out of the way of a stray kick, “then it will actually break.”

Dream let out a slight growl, leaping to the side to take a left feint before swinging back around right. Techno saw it coming, blocking the attack with practiced ease.

“You know maybe if you,” Dream dodged a swing of Techno’s axe, “actually tried to attack me, I wouldn’t have to hit it so much.” He shot back while raising his own shield when Techno let out a huff and slammed his axe sideways, hoping to throw the other off-guard.

“You’ve done like, 8 of those in the past 20 minutes, try something different for once, Bacon Bitch.” Dream huffed, sending a glare towards the other, but a smirk was clear on his face.

He had his mask held tightly on his face while his hair was held in a small, tight bun at the back of his head, his bangs falling in front of his face and framing it well, though there were a lot of loose pieces that hung loose as well, hence the constant fighting.

He had on a short-sleeved green hoodie with white joggers and white sneakers, though it was too hard to see from the diamond armor that covered him.

Techno neglected to bring his mask, mostly because they disabled spectators on the practice match. His crimson eyes shone brightly, even through the shade of the trees above them.

Wearing his casual clothes, Techno would probably look like a character from a storybook, his button-up with puffed sleeved and high-waisted khakis with long, strawberry milk hair that cascaded down in a pink waterfall; but was now held into a braid that wrapped around the back of his head.

“Maybe I’m trying to get you used to it, then when I feint that way you’ll raise your shield, and your right side will be open.” Techno said, his own face neutral, though sweat began to bead on his forehead.

“Thanks for telling me your plan, appreciate ya.” Dream mused, lips quirking upwards. Techno looked straight into his eyes for a moment.

“You’re welcome. Why wouldn’t I give my plans away to my rival?” Dream let out a small wheeze, swinging a hit forward, the tip of the blade skimming just left of the other man’s body.

“Only people as smart as Technoblade would think to do that.” Dream said, whipping around to block another hit from the pig.

“What are you trying to imply there, Dream?” The green-clad man than broke into another lung-crushing wheeze, having to physically steady himself before sending another swipe in.

Techno looked at him amusingly, quirking a brow up while his lips pulled upwards in the slightest.

“I’m- I’m just saying, man. Only people as smart as the smartest man alive would give their plans away!” He laughed out making Techno roll his eyes and bring his axe down onto the other man’s shield.

“And that’s why you lost to me, because you aren’t smart enough to tell me your plans.” The pig said, taking a step forward into Dream’s personal space to be able to try and hit him in the shoulder with the butt-end of his axe. The man easily took a step back, pushing the handle away and connecting his axe with the armor on Techno’s side.

“That was bold, Bacon.” Dream commented, trying to get another swing in. Techno huffed.

“Better than your flimsy attacks.” He retaliated, dropping down and instantly swinging a leg out to try and sweep Dream onto his ass. The latter stumbled back after his foot narrowly missed, the blonde then twirling his axe while Techno got back up. He then grinned and dashed forward, slamming himself into Techno, taking them both down to the artificial grass.

Techno held Dream’s axe off of his neck with the handle of his own. The beady black eyes of the other’s mask stared down at him as he grit his teeth awkwardly against his tusks.

“Jeez Techno, never thought of you as being a bottom.” Dream said, developing into laughter as Techno looked at him with the most deadpan look he could muster.

“Only you would ever think of me in that manner.” And Dream let out another wheeze, his body squeezing downward a bit. Techno took this opportunity to kick Dream off of him, the human tumbling into a backwards somersault and landing him hunched down with his axe extended behind him.

Techno kicked himself up onto his feet, ready to block another attack, but the green man simply crumpled in on himself as a wheeze pierced the air. Techno found himself smiling as Dream laughed.

The pig relaxed his posture as Dream pocketed his weapons in order to hug his stomach, bending over slightly as laughs ran through his body.

“C’mon man, were supposed to be being rivals, not having you puncturing a lung.” He said with a smile still present, pocketing his own weapons into his own inventory with the pulling up of a hologram and swiping his finger a few times. He closed the screen as he walked over to Dream, the man was now taking his own mask off in order to wipe a few tears that had formed.

“Jeez, I guess I am that funny.” Dream looked up at him with a slightly red face and an exasperated smile.

“Fuck off.” He joked, if there was a hint of affection in there, Techno brushed over it like it was nothing.

The pig looked into the sky, the sun at almost a 45 angle in the West, signaling that there was a few more hours until sunset.

“You wanna call it?” the pig asked, quickly tacking on, “I don’t wanna waste the rest of the day on my rival that can’t even fight.” The blonde picked his head up and now Techno could clearly see the glare being sent his way.

“’Can’t even fight’ my ass, only reason I didn’t get you there is because you said some stupid shit.”

“In retaliation to your ‘stupid shit.’” He air-quoted as both of them walked side-by-side towards the exit of the practice map. Dream rolled his verdant eyes, clasping his mask back onto his face and pulling his hood over his hair.

Techno could now see the few nicks and grass burns on the man’s arms, well, the parts that weren’t covered with diamond armor.

“Don’t you have old banana peels to go eat?”

“Don’t you have people’s sleep to go ruin?”

Both of them turned to look at each other, mischievous glints in their eyes.

Techno then looked back, subconsciously lifting a hand to block one of Dream’s fists.

“How? You weren’t even looking at me?!” the man exclaimed, sending another punch that was blocked by the pig, who was now scrolling through something on the hologram pulled up in front of him.

“I’m used to your cheap shots by now.” He said, voice as monotonous as ever.

Dream sent him another glare from behind the mask before huffing and turning away. Techno looked over, looking at him with an astounded look.

“Wow, the amazing Dream-was-taken doesn’t have a coy comeback? What? Is he okay?”

“What? Techno hasn’t made a Sun-Tzu quote in three hours? Is he okay?”

Techno let out his own gruff laugh at that, a soft snort adding onto it.

“You got me there, Hobo, got me there.”

“I’m not homeless!”

The two were an unstoppable team, cutting through enemies in flashes of pink, green, and red.

They were monsters, machines that were wired for an intended purpose as coins exploded from the tell-tale fireworks of another’s death.

Explosions of all colors lit up their vision as they thinned the pack of people that stood in their way of the victory crown.

Axes slamming down and swords sweeping the air as they used their combined strength, speed, and willpower to demolish the competition.

And at the end of the day in striking fear into others, the golden crowns lay rested upon their heads as they smiled into the crowd of people they had taken down to earn it.

“You know, we make a pretty good team, Bacon.”

“Couldn’t agree more, Teletubby.”
