Work Text:

There is a curtain between you and your bearer of life.

Through goethe and opaque veils she lies; in dark corridors, halls of white;

a room in all its ironies devoid of any light

She stares out shut windows, the air suffocates; and the hospital room feels like a holm.

She does not talk to you; but she mutters. Curses; of past, present, and future.

And as you always do, you smile. You strain your cheeks. and you listen. Her descent down rings like Rome.

And this room feels like home

She say’s it’s because of you

She’s without any beatitude.

Your life is costly.

And you are not so knightly

As to pay back your dues timely.

For you are a child and are far too unlikely--

Your teacher taught you to rhyme; she askes you about home all the time.

god taught you how to wish.

he asked if you’ve ever desired; you say you don’t know

he says if you did; you’d wish for love

you say you are loved enough

He says you are predictable.

--Your mother wishes to die; and you wish for cheesecake.

You don’t like cheesecake. But you eat anyway.

It’s her favorite.

your eyes are wet. And your stomach is full.

Everything collapses. Like pieces of sharp tile torn apart by the honey keeping them together

You are left alone.

You wish for cheesecake.

You wish to go home.

You aren’t sure what that is.

But that’s ok.

It’s time for dessert.
