Work Text:
The world was white when Historia opened her eyes.
She was lying in bed in sheets of white and a dress the same soft colour of snow. Curtains breezed lightly somewhere behind her. Unfamiliar though it was, there was a sense of peace in this quiet place, a purity in the air.
Beside her a form stirred, short brown hair the only colour in this place. The only colour Historia's ever loved.
She touched Ymir's hair gently.
Ymir yawned and fluttered open her eyes, and the freckly grin she gave Historia was more beautiful than heaven itself.
"Hey."
"Hey." Historia tucked a strand of hair shyly.
"You're here." Ymir propped onto an elbow. "It's been a while, girl."
Historia nodded. "It has."
Ymir lifted her hand and pressed a kiss. "I'm glad to see you again."
They had all the time in the world now. This Historia knew. And she would cherish every minute of it, every heartbeat together, with her Ymir.
"There's something I need to ask you." She took Ymir's hands in hers so they were both on their knees, two angels in white about to make a vow.
A light breeze lifted the curtains and flapped in the wind, trailing in the air they floated like veils from each girl's hair. Historia took a deep breath and smiled at Ymir.
"Will you marry me?"
Her Ymir nodded, sniffling gently. Tears sparkled in her eyes as they did in Historia's too. Ymir's wet smile slowly burst to a grin as bright as the sun itself as she laughed and squeezed Historia's head in a one-arm hug.
"You know, that sounded even better coming from you!"
