His Stars to His Moon

Summary:

The romantic melody in the background could be to blame, or maybe even the soft chocolate fragrant that lingered a tad too long on Yamaguchi's lips was the culprit. But whatever it may be, Tsukishima tilted the awestruck living art's chin up and planted a languid kiss on his awaiting lips, savoring every sweet taste that was offered.

Or

Some TsukiYama fluff for the single (or not too single) souls.

Work Text:

"Oh, that's the kettle. You, sit here and pick a movie while I go get our drinks."

A soft but jolly voice sang as a slender figure stood up from the shared bed. The other person, who was still sitting there, scrolled through the endless movies listed on Netflix and didn't budge one bit.

"And before you even think about it, no Jurassic Park please Tsukki."

Tsukishima huffed a little before setting his gaze on the green-haired man, now standing at the door. He wore simple sweats with an antiquated tee that was already fading in color. No matter how many times he attempted to persuade his partner into throwing it out and replace it with a new one, the latter would always contradict by saying "You have no sense of fashion." However, Tsukishima still couldn't help but admire the effortless allure in front of him.

"Why not?" He mumbled, clearly disappointed. He may or may not had pestered Yamaguchi into watching a few too many dinosaur centric films but that was because they were fascinating species and Yamaguchi never protested.

"Because..." Yamaguchi let off a sigh while shaking his head in defeat, but the bright smile he wore never left his facade.

"We need to have some Christmas spirit."

Christmas spirit. What a ridicule. Tsukishima knew better than to voice his thoughts, though he still complied.

By the time Yamaguchi returned with a tray filled with caramel popcorn and two cups of hot chocolate in hand, Tsukishima had already scooted over the side to make space for the arriver and opted to settle with a cliché yet season-favorite film.

Half way into the movie, the blond had already finished his hot chocolate. Another few minutes passed by and he was munching on the last pieces of popcorn. He tried to check his phone but was harshly swatted by Yamaguchi. How was he so engrossed in this sappy shit?

At some point Yamaguchi started to sniffle and his eyes welled up with tears. It was supposed to go unnoticed but since Tsukishima wasn't at all paying attention to whatever that was happening on the screen, he noticed every small change that flashed over his boyfriend's features. Intriguing. Much better than the film.

He ran his fingers through the green hair, the same hair he had always yearned to touch since high school and glided down the star-dusted cheek. Yamaguchi was shy indeed but he was never ashamed of his freckles. He wore them like medals and Tsukishima couldn't help but find his confidence endearing. If only he had lended Tsukishima his courage one the night of the failed confession.

During nights at their sleepovers with the others in high school, Yamaguchi would talk for hours on end about whatever that was on his mind while Tsukishima vigilantly observed the stars, his stars. They reminded him of constellations planted in the skies. At times, he would consider how to trace them with an intangible marker to see which symbol he would get. And the one time he succeeded, he got something similar to a crescent moon.

He gently caressed the other's cheek and trailed his hand towards his ear, a-piercingless ear. Yamaguchi once thought about piercings and though Tsukishima commented how weird it was, he never really hated them. But once the appointment was lurking right around the corner, Yamaguchi was restless, anxious and a total wreck. He was afraid of messing up the piercing (though that entirely depends on the piercer), he was scared of the pain (that would probably last a second or two), to mention but a few. And in the end, Tsukishima had to talk him out of his appointment before his soul left his body on the leather seat with a cold metal through his earlobe.

He loved Yamaguchi's ear like this better, it was easier to nip on nights he was teasing the green-haired. It was easier to tuck his overgrown fringe back without any hinderance. And with that, his fingers danced down the latter's chin.

Tsukishima loved Yamaguchi, that was no surprise. For Yamaguchi has always been by his side through rain or shine. Yamaguchi would always be the shimmering stars illuminating the way for him in the darks nights when the moon can't shine no longer. Yamaguchi was his Spring after a blistering Winter. And last but not least, Yamaguchi was his lover, his ever so patient partner. The partner who wore his heart on his sleeves and cared too much for everyone around him. This being the case, Tsukishima thought that maybe, just maybe it was high time somebody else looked after Yamaguchi, and who would be better suited for the role than Tsukishima himself?
