Chucky looked up from the photo album. He interrupted his wife’s narration about how Glenda was becoming quite the body disposal expert. “Hey, Tiff.”
She stopped and met his gaze. “Chucky?” She squinted. “Why do you have that look on your face?”
And then he posed the question that had been teasing at the back of his brain: “Have you ever thought about having another kid?”
They were comfortable now, no longer continuously cheating death by hopping from plastic body to plastic body. Nica’s soul was proving to be less of a problem than he thought it would be, taking long stretches where she did not peak above the surface, lost in an oceanic lull as Chucky steered. The twins were happy and adjusted, to this family’s standards at least, and over the past four years, they had fallen into a rhythm.
Tiffany blinked slowly, took a deep breath, closed and pushed the album off her lap before saying, “I’m going to need some more wine.”

Now the parents of teenagers, Tiffany and Chucky want another child. A new body added to the mix gives them more options than they had last time around.
