Chapter Text
It was a nice peaceful day in the town of Faraway. The sun was shining bright in the summer air, the flowers were blossoming with the many pastel colors of the rainbow, and Sunny had just come back from his new house out in the country. Sunny comes back to Faraway at least once a month to check up on the others and see how they are doing.
At first, when he told the truth about Mari’s death, Hero was both feeling rage and remorse for Sunny because he knew Sunny thought he was in danger when he was arguing with Mari and Mari was Hero’s one and only. Now, he comes back more often from college to check up on Kel and his accolades have seemed to decrease over the months. He doesn’t try to talk to Sunny and Basil most of the time they’re around.
When Aubrey heard the truth about Mari’s death, she didn’t know how to handle it. She was wrecked with rage, confusion, and sorrow. Her overall demeanor of “I can handle this” was absolutely down the drain. She started having a panic attack in the middle of her mental breakdown and a nurse had to come in to calm her down. Her mental stability from then is okay now but is still a little on the anxious side. Aubrey still worries about Sunny and Basil but doesn’t exactly talk to them.
And finally, there was Kel. He was shocked to hear the truth about Mari’s death. He tried to comfort Hero so he wouldn’t break down like Aubrey would and have Hero go back to the state he was in when Mari died. When Hero had calmed down, Kel went over to Sunny to see if he was okay. Sunny at this point was up in tears and needed to be comforted, so after Hero was in a calm enough state, he went to Sunny and comforted him as well.
After Hero and Kel left the hospital, Kel couldn’t take it anymore. He broke down in tears knowing that his best friend he was with the entire time had killed their sister. Hero then comforted him as well, as he also didn’t want Kel to go back to the state Sunny and Hero were in. Kel still hangs out with Sunny and Basil, but he doesn’t exactly act the same way to them.
Sunny knew that the group wouldn’t treat him the same after he told them the truth about Mari’s death, But he knew it had to be done.
So that Hero wouldn’t blame himself for Mari’s death.
So that Aubrey could begin to be friends with her old group again.
So that Kel wouldn’t worry about his brother when he went off to college.
So that Basil could start coping with his trauma from Mari’s death.
So that Sunny could truly remember the memories he had with Mari.
With Sunny in his new house, he had to get accustomed to country life in his new area. He knew that the accidental murder of Mari would stain his life forever. People would see that he had done something terrible. He knew the weight of what he had done. He knew that the height and weight for his age would make people think that his parents were horrible people, but he quickly made sure that it was not because of them.
Sunny is now returning to Faraway once again, and he and his group of friends will go to a place unexplored by reality.
“Aren’t you happy to see your friends again, Sunny?”, Sunny’s mom asked, seeing that Sunny was just staring out the car window, face blank as ever.
His mom asked again, jolting Sunny out of his reverie,
“Oh! Yeah, totally.” Sunny said somewhat energetic.
“Well I’m glad, just so you know, you don’t have to come back to Faraway if you don’t want to.” Sunny’s mom said with a sympathetic tone.
Sunny became confused at the statement.
“Why not?”
“Well, I probably think you know why.” Sunny’s mom became more distressed as the topic went on.
Sunny then realized what she was talking about.
“Oh, mom, I’m alright with Faraway, It’s just the place where it happened that kinda, Ya’ know, scares me.
Sunny could tell from the miles signs on the road that he was going to be in Faraway soon.
A few minutes of silence later, the car comes to a stop in Faraway, and Sunny steps out of the car.
“I’ll see you at seven!” Sunny’s mom yelled at him.
“Alright! See you soon!” Sunny yelled back.
Sunny’s car drove off and Sunny already knew where to go first.
He had to go see Basil.
It took him a little while to get there, he got a little lost trying to find his house because his mom put him in a different place than usual, but he finally managed to make it to Basil’s house.
Sunny knocked on the door.
The door slowly opened.
“H-Hello?” Said a familiar shaky voice to Sunny.
“Basil, It’s me, Sunny,” Sunny replied, making sure his voice was quiet enough to not scare him.
“Oh, It’s you!” Basil exclaimed, dropping the shy guy’s act, “How have you been since we last met?”
“I’ve been doing well, grades not so much, friends; doing well,” Sunny said, back to his normal tone.
“That’s okay, I’m not good with grades either, but I’m glad that you’re making friends!” Basil cheered.
“Well, do you think we should see the others?” Sunny asked.
“I think that would be a good idea,” Basil said.
“Alright then, let’s go! Sunny cheered.
Sunny and Basil walked towards Kel and Hero’s place.
A few minutes later, they reached Kel’s place and only managed to get Hero to go with them because Kel was going with them and he was worried about Kel’s safety.
They were about to go to Aubrey’s house when all of a sudden…
Reality broke from beneath their feet.
Falling from Reality itself.
AND THEY WILL NEVER COME BACK .
