"It is!"
"Is not."
"Yes!"
"No"
Steve is watching Tony and Peter sitting at the table, arguing about a movie - he had just wanted something hot to drink - when a voice interrupts his contemplation. "What's going on here?"
Steve turns his head to see Bruce looking at them with a very confused expression. "I believe they're arguing whether or not a movie called Die Hard is a Christmas movie…"
"Ah, yes, the eternal debate. What brought it on?"
"We watched an episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine yesterday. They were bickering about it."
“Ah, yes. How long has this been going on?”
“Five minutes I think?”
The two geniuses continue to bicker while Bruce brews his tea and Steve finishes his own drink. They are both about to leave when finally Tony and Peter see them.
“Hey, you two!”
Steve sighs; they should have left a minute ago. “Yes Tony?”
“Do you think Die Hard is a Christmas movie?”
“Well”, Steve starts.
“I’m going to stay neutral on that one”, Bruce interrupts.
“I’ve never seen it”
“What?”
“Well, yeah. If I understood some of what you said, I was still in the ice when it came out. And I can’t say anyone suggested it to me before.”
Tony looks scandalised. “This isn’t going to cut it.”
“Nope. You need to watch it Steve. It’s a classic!”
“If you say so.”
“Yes!” they reply in unison. Steve and Bruce look at each other. At least now they were agreeing on something.
“Actually you know what?” Tony asks. “Let’s do it now.”
“Tony I -”
“No no no Bruce. If Friday locks me out of the lab, so should you. You’ve got bags under your eyes that are worse than mine. Come on, it’ll do you some good.”
Bruce sighs, but nods with a resigned face. There is no arguing with Tony in times like that, especially when he is right. “And you”, he turns to Steve, “you need to improve your references. Actually, now that I think about it, go get your cyborg boyfriend. I’m sure he’s never seen it either.”
And that’s how they find themselves watching an action movie in the middle of the afternoon. Bruce has taken the right corner of the couch, then there is Steve, with Bucky pressed at his left side, snuggled under his left arm. On the left corner of the couch is Natasha, who has her legs across Bucky’s lap and her feet in Steve’s. Tony has taken an armchair and Peter a beanbag. They’re missing Wanda and Vision who are training, and Sam who is visiting Sarah.
At the end of the movie, Steve can see both points of view. The ‘yes’ because there are some Holiday themed things, the biggest one being the setting, but at the same time…. This is an action movie - released in summer apparently. Not very Christmas-like.
Hand combing through Bucky’s hair, he wonders what is going to happen now. Will that settle Tony and Peter’s argument? Apparently not, because thirth seconds later, the two geniuses start bickering again.
"Well if that is a Christmas movie, then the first Harry Potter is, too."
Steve frowns immediately; that didn’t sound like the right thing to say. He turns his head to Bruce who wears a similar expression on his face.
"Then let's watch it and that will settle this.”
Besides him, Bruce groans.
