Work Text:

“Have you ever been in love?” The interviewer asked and Hyunjin felt his heart flip, eyes shifting to his manager in the background who looked panicked. Clearly it wasn’t supposed to be in the questions.

“It’s just.. your songs for this album look like they're directed at someone.” The interviewer said, and Hyunjin inhaled deeply, clearing his throat before giving a small smile. “Well..”

Six Months Ago

Hyunjin was an idol, a very known one really. He never got an actual break ever since he debuted. He trained for five years and debuted as a soloist at age seventeen. After that, he became successful and he faced concerts after concerts, meetings after meetings.

Only four years in and he’s longing for a break.

“Hyung please, I just need a few months off. I can’t get any writing out of me since I’m stuck in meetings when I’m supposed to rest.” Hyunjin said to his manager while they were waiting for traffic.

He just finished his last performance for his comeback and now they were on his way to his dorm. Hyunjin has been talking about his break ever since his comeback started and he knew that it was the perfect time to take a few months off without doing anything work related.

“I’ll bring it up with the CEO-”

“-Yes!”

“-But that doesn’t mean it’s already settled. You know how hard it is to get a break after only a few years in the business.” His manager said and he sighed, pressing his cheek on the headrest of the driver’s seat.

“I know. It just sounds nice now that you’re trying to do something about it.” Hyunjin said and his manager smiled, reaching to pat his head. “Get some rest, we’ll be in traffic for a while.” He said and Hyunjin nodded, leaning back and putting his earphones on.

After a week, his manager called him from the practice room and into his office. “Am I in trouble?” He asked, sweat seeping into his clothes and dripping on the sides of his face to his neck, when he saw his manager leaning on his table,

His manager gave him a knowing smile and he stopped walking in his tracks. “It got accepted?” He asked in shock and his manager chuckled, shrugging his shoulders, proud. “It got accepted.” He answered back.

Hyunjin punched the air and excitedly jumped in his place. “When?” He asked. “Your break starts tomorrow until February 10.” His manager said and Hyunjin smiled widely. “Three months.” He said, nodding his head. “I can be with my family for Christmas and New Year!” He added and his manager nodded.

“Don’t forget to work-out even though you’re on a break, okay? We don’t want you getting sick.” He said and Hyunjin nodded, thanking him multiple times before going back to the practice room to fix his stuff and go to the dorm to pack up to go home.

Hyunjin has been home for a month now, spending it all day in the house with his parents, working out and practicing his art, may it be singing or his visual arts.

“Honey, can you please buy some vegetables in the new small market near our place?” His mother asked from the kitchen and he lifted his head from the television, his fingers that were playing with kkami’s hair paused as well.

“Now?” He asked and his mother nodded, reaching for her purse. Hyunjin got up almost immediately and took his mask and baseball cap. He put both of them on before taking the money and the tote bag for groceries.

He stepped out of the house, wearing his slippers, jogging pants and plain black sweater. The new market was only a ten minute walk from their house and he was thankful that they opened it while he was there.

Hyunjin reached the market and as expected, it was filled with people around town. He pulled the cap lower to his head as he walked around until he found the vegetables section.

He picked out the fresh ones and even got himself his favorite fruit in the fruit section.

While he was paying, he could hear a few girls murmuring. “He’s Hyunjin, right?” He heard. “Oh my god!” Someone excitedly said, followed by smacking. She was hitting her friend on the shoulder.

He got the change and put the tote bag on his shoulder, exiting the market immediately. Of course, they followed.

Now, normally Hyunjin didn’t mind meeting his fans. Hell, he’d even stop walking just to talk to them. But he’s on a vacation and he likes to keep his vacation private with no relation to his glamorous life.

He started speed-walking and he made sure he got some distance before bolting.

Footsteps and screams followed behind him. He thought this only happened in movies, but here he was, getting chased. This never happened before, but then again he had guards and a planned exit route before.

He made a sharp turn and saw a small library. He ran inside, almost slamming the door open, and jumped over the counter. The person behind the counter jumped in shock as he looked down at Hyunjin’s tired form on the ground.

Hyunjin took his mask off to breathe properly and the man in front of him gasped. “You’re..” His sentence faded when he heard his fans run past the library.

“You’re..” He repeated but the door opened. Hyunjin made a begging face, clasping his hands together as a plea

The staff smiled at him before looking at the girls that entered. “May I help you?” The man asked and the girls sighed. “Did a tall man come in here just now?” One asked and Felix blinked, acting as if to see if anyone was in the empty library.

“Place looks empty. So. No. But I did see someone run past the place.” He answered and with that, the girls left.

Hyunjin let out a breath of relief, closing his eyes as he leaned on the wall. “Thank you.” Hyunjin said and the man crouched down.

“Are you alright?”

Hyunjin opened his eyes to see the man’s face up-close. He had blonde hair, dark brown eyes and freckled cheeks and nose. He looked cute.

He never told the public, but the idols he treated as best friends and his team knew that he was interested in men.

Specifically, cute men.

“I’m.. I’m okay. I just ran so fast.” Hyunjin answered, chuckling as he sat up properly. His eyes dropped to the man’s name tag.

Felix . Thank you, Felix.” Hyunjin said, smiling at him and Felix smiled back.

“I’m-”

“Hwang Hyunjin.” Felix finished, nodding his head and scratching his arm. “I’m a fan.” Felix added, clearing his throat before standing up.

Hyunjin stood up as well, getting the tote bag. “You’re a fan?” Hyunjin asked as he exited the counter to stay on the other side of it. “Have been since pre-debut.” Felix answered, his cheeks flaring up.

“I like your music.” Felix added and Hyunjin’s heart almost melted from how shy Felix was being. He looked really cute with the blush on his cheeks.

“Thank you. That means a lot.” Hyunjin said before looking around the place and Felix nodded his head, heart pounding in his chest. “I didn’t know we had a library here.” He stated.

The building was a small, cramped, one-story building. The room smelled like books, the old ones that smelled good and the ambiance of the place was homey. There were a few two-person tables in the corners and one long table in the middle of the shelves.

“My boss only had this built a few months ago.” Felix answered, biting his lower lip before speaking again. “He wanted a place for the people here to relax and buy books to read or stay to read them.” He added.

“But I think the place will be gone after a few months too since there haven't been any customers after our opening.” Felix shared, sighing deeply.

“That’s sad.” Hyunjin said with a frown as their eyes met again. Hyunjin smiled widey. “Don’t worry, after today, you’ll have me as a regular.” He added and Felix’s eyes widened.

“Really?” He asked and Hyunjin nodded excitedly. “The place is quiet and I haven’t read anything in a while. Might as well buy books I can read whenever I come home or when I stay in this library.” He answered Felix who excitedly smiled.

“That would mean a lot, thank you.” Felix said.

After that, they said their farewells even though they knew they'd be seeing each other the next day.

Hyunjin was happy when he got home, apologizing to his mother about the situation after explaining to her about what happened.

“Oh, you met Felix.” His mother said as she started washing the vegetables. “You know him?” Hyunjin asked, sitting at the dining table and his mother nodded.

“He’s a sweet boy. He bakes me cookies every Friday.” She answered and Hyunjin smiled happily, his chest feeling warm at the thought of the blonde taking care of his mother. “That’s sweet of him.” He said.

The next time Hyunjin came into the small library, he wasn’t panting or running away, he was composed and in the same type of clothes as the last time with the baseball hat and face mask.

When he entered, Felix wasn’t at the counter like before, so he waited, shifting his weight from one foot to another. Then he heard footsteps and grumbling, he saw Felix carrying books that towered over his frame and Hyunjin chuckled.

Hello ?” Felix asked in English, trying to peek from the books but he sighed. “If anyone’s there, can you please help me set this down?” He asked in Korean this time and Hyunjin stepped forward, taking almost all of the books from Felix.

“Oh.” Felix said when he saw Hyunjin, still in his poor disguise. “Hi.” He said, blinking his eyes as he watched Hyunjin set the book on the long table in the middle.

“Why are you surprised?” Hyunjin asked, taking his mask off since it was safe in the library before putting it in his pocket. “I told you I was coming back, didn’t I?” He asked again and Felix nodded slowly.

“I just figured you’d rather do something else.” Felix said, chuckling. “Do you.. need anything? What do you want to read?” Felix asked him and Hyunjin sighed, rubbing his hands together.

“Do you have any horror books?” He asked and Felix smiled, nodding his head before leading Hyunjin towards the horror section.

Hyunjin followed behind Felix, watching his blonde hair bounce slightly from the way he was walking. It was like the sun was dancing.

“Why horror?” Felix asked when they turned to a section. Hyunjin gave him a small smile, appreciating the small talk. He liked this. He liked that even though Felix knew who he was, he didn’t treat him as an idol.

“Um, well, I want to get scared?” Hyunjin answered in a questioning tone and Felix nodded in understanding. “If that’s the reason, then I suggest..” Felix’s voice faded away as he tried finding the book.

Felix hummed before taking the book and handing it over to Hyunjin. “Flowers of Mold, Ha Seong-nan.” Hyunjin read before glancing at Felix.

“If you want to be more scared, there’s a comfy loveseat chair at the back. It’s dark there but you’ll have a lamp.” Felix told him before giving a smile and walking away.

Hyunjin thanked him before heading to the back.

Hyunjin was already mid-way when he heard footsteps from the right. He turned his head, no one was there. He shook his head while shaking the weird feeling off.

The book made him feel uneasy, like there was someone watching him but he knew Felix was still at the front of the store.

He continued reading, getting immersed by it until a voice made him jump. “I-Are you okay?” Felix asked from where he heard the footsteps before, almost laughing.

Hyunjin cleared his throat, a hand going to his chest. “I’m okay. I just.. you scared me.” He answered and Felix laughed, making sure he didn’t drop the mugs he was holding.

Hyunjin smiled back, liking the way Felix’s cheeks lifted, bright smile almost blinding him and lighting the dark corner. “Sorry. I just wanted to bring you coffee.” Felix said.

Felix handed him a warm cup of coffee and Hyunjin thanked him, getting the cup from him and placing it on the small table beside the loveseat.

“How is it?” Felix asked, leaning on the wall before sipping from the coffee. Hyunjin inhaled deeply, combing back his hair since he removed his cap a while ago. “It’s doing a good job making me feel scared.” He answered and Felix laughed.

It was deep but it felt light. “I’ll uh.. I’ll leave you to read.” Felix said, smiling at him before giving him some space. Hyunjin thanked him for the cup before leaning back on the comfortable chair and reading.

For the rest of the weeks, Hyunjin came by, mostly during the afternoon every Monday and Sunday. He didn’t know if it were the books that drew him into the place or the certain sunshine that lit the library up with a single smile.

They became friends, which surprised Hyunjin, because given his life, it was hard to meet honest people. But Felix was honest. When Hyunjin asked what song Felix didn’t like the most, the other man was quick to think and answer in detail why it felt off for him.

Hyunjin appreciated that.

When Christmas Eve was closing in, Hyunjin rolled up to the library with his boots, padded jacket and a beanie over his head. Felix wasn’t on the other side of the counter, but he entered anyway.

“Felix?” Hyunjin called out, nervously taking off his gloves and jacket before placing them on the table. He was going to ask Felix to join Christmas Eve with his family since Felix’s family wasn’t going to be in Seoul until before New Year.

“Give me a second!” Felix called from behind and Hyunjin nodded to himself. A few seconds passed and Felix jogged in with his blue sweater, he looked really comfortable and soft. “Um.” Hyunjin said, scratching the back of his head.

“So uh..”

Felix tilted his head to the side as he waited, a small smile forming on his lips from how shy Hyunjin was being. “Hyunjin-ssi, are you okay?” He asked and Hyunjin chuckled, shaking his head.

“You said that you’ll be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas alone.” Hyunjin started and Felix nodded his head, sighing deeply as he fixed a few books on the shelves. “Yeah, all my friends are going to be in their hometowns and my family won’t be here ‘til before New Year.” Felix answered, looking at him.

“Why?” He asked.

Hyunjin chuckled nervously before smiling at him. “Why don’t you join my family and I?” He asked and Felix almost dropped the book he was holding, a shocked look on his face. “I mean, if that’s alright? I’m inviting you as my new friend.” He added.

Felix exhaled sharply before smiling and nodding. “Y-yeah, I would like that. Thank you so much.” He answered and Hyunjin smiled wider. “Great! I’ll tell my mother.” Hyunjin said before clapping his cold hands. “Any suggestions today?” He asked.

The next few days before Christmas Eve, they developed a deeper type of friendship

Christmas Eve

“What time is he coming?” Hyunjin’s mother asked as she cut the apple for the fruit salad. “He just replied to me, he’s five minutes away.” Hyunjin answered, playing with Kkami.

“Hey, honey.” His mother called and Hyunjin lifted his head to meet her eyes. “I think it’s really sweet that you made a new friend while you’re on break.” She said and Hyunjin smiled, petting Kkami on the head. “Is he nice?” She asked and Hyunjin's smile turned into a soft one.

“Extremely nice. He’s honest and funny too.”

“Do you like him?”

Hyunjin chuckled nervously and he was about to answer when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get that.” Hyunjin said before heading over to the front door, leaving Kkami on the couch.

When he opened the door, Felix was standing in front of him, his cheeks and his nose red from the cold.

“Oh my god, you look like a winter fairy.” Hyunjin teased and Felix laughed, shaking off the snow from his body. “Come on, let’s get you all warmed up.” Hyunjin said, opening the door for him.

Felix entered, removing his shoes inside before wearing the house slippers that Hyunjin gave him. “I brought uh.. I brought cookies as a gift.” Felix said and Hyunjin finally noticed the tupperware he was holding.

“Felix!” Hyunjin’s mother called happily when he saw the ball of sunshine. “Mrs. Hwang!” He called, equally happy when he spotted her. He entered and gave her a hug, she hugged him back.

“Felix!” Another voice joined in, Hyunjin’s father entered and Felix gave him a respectful bow. “Mr. Hwang, hi.” Felix said and Hyunjin stood beside Felix.

“I see you’re acquainted.” Hyunjin said, putting a hand on Felix's shoulder. “Yeah, I love his cookies.” Mr. Hwang said. “I would love to taste these famous cookies of yours.” Hyunjin commented, bumping hips with him.

If Felix wasn’t in the cold for such a long time, the blush on his face would’ve been very, very visible.

Hyunjin fell in love with his cookies the moment he bit into one after the whole dinner and he looked at Felix with wide eyes. “Okay, now I get it.” He said, nodding his head and the two chuckled at him.

“We’ll clean this up, you guys can go out and have fun.” Mr. Hwang said and they nodded, getting their thick jackets and gloves to protect themselves from the cold. It was almost midnight too, and Hyunjin’s parents sent him away with Felix so they had their alone time for this Christmas

“Where do you want to go?” Felix asked when they stepped out of the house and Hyunjin hummed, walking away from the house and beside Felix. “The library? It’s warm there and we can make coffee.” Hyunjin answered.

They entered the library after stomping their boots to shake off the snow on their shoes before dusting off themselves.

“I’ll go make the coffee.” Felix said and Hyunjin nodded, heading towards the back area where the loveseat was.

When Felix came back with the coffees, he invited Hyunjin to go to the rooftop. “You’re not planning on killing me, are you?” Hyunjin teased as they went up the stairs to the roof in their jackets and gloves. Felix laughed, shaking his head, careful not to spill the coffee.

“You read too many crime novels.” Felix answered back as he opened the rooftop. He let Hyunjin step out first and Hyunjin’s jaw dropped. There was a small space with a glass roof, a small sofa under it and Christmas lights were hanging around.

“Did you set this up?” Hyunjin asked in shock as they walked towards it. “Yeah, it’s always been up here. I clean up every once and a while.” Felix answered before sitting on the sofa, Hyunjin sat beside him.

Felix took the blanket by one of the single chairs and covered both of them. Their thighs were touching but they didn’t mind. They liked that they were close since it gave them more warmth. “So, we’re ten minutes away from Christmas, do you want anything?” Hyunjin asked, drinking from his cup.

“Hmm.” Felix hummed, warming up his hand with his mug. “A song.” Felix answered, smiling at Hyunjin. “A song?” Hyunjin asked in shock and Felix giggled, shrugging his shoulders. “I haven’t heard you sing while we’re together, so I figured you can sing to me as a gift.” Felix answered him, going straight to the point.

Hyunjin nodded his head before picking one of his songs that fit the mood right now. Hyunjin looked at Felix with a smile before he started singing. Felix happily hummed, swaying and snapping his fingers as he listened.

Hyunjin felt warmth in his chest knowing that Felix really enjoyed his songs, and him singing it. As Hyunjin sang, he looked at Felix like the other man was about to disappear right in front of him. He studied Felix’s freckles, the way his eyes turn into lines when he smiles a little too hard and his lips.

Those pretty pink lips.

When Hyunjin finished the song, he continued to look at his lips. He heard Felix complimenting his voice, the lyrics until it stopped. Hyunjin lifted his eyes to meet Felix’s and noticed that he had leaned over and was now only inches away from Felix’s face.

“Hyunjin?” Felix asked softly, hot breath hitting Hyunjin’s plump lips. Hyunjin inhaled deeply before slowly leaning back, but Felix stopped him by grabbing his arm. “Do it.” Felix said, voice as soft as when he spoke, gulping. “Are you sure?” Hyunjin asked, wide-eyed and Felix smiled.

“Kiss me.”

And so, Hyunjin did, he reached for Felix’s cheek with his free hand and kissed him. It was slow and sweet, and in time for the fireworks to explode in the sky above them. Felix happily kissed back, hand gripping Hyunjin’s arm. Hyunjin pulled back first, smiling at the other man, their foreheads touching.

“Merry Christmas.” Hyunjin whispered, drawing circles on his cheek.

“Merry Christmas.” Felix said back, kissing Hyunjin’s red nose.

They spent the remaining days before New Year together in the library. There were a lot of hot cocoas and kisses in between re-reading books and working.

Yes, working, Felix couldn’t seem to stay sane without working and Hyunjin understood that.

But, Felix’s family came on the 28th and Hyunjin met them. Felix begged them to keep their friendship within the family as it might be an inconvenience to Hyunjin and his career. They agreed and treated Hyunjin to some local restaurant food.

On the thirtieth, Hyunjin wrapped his arms around Felix’s shoulder, his chest pressed on Felix’s back. “Hi.” He greeted him even though he’s been in the same space as him for hours. Felix giggled, leaning back on Hyunjin. “Why, hello there.” Felix greeted, tilting his head so Hyunjin could bend a little for a kiss.

It became so natural, so quick. They share little kisses, and they go to each other’s house. Felix knew it wouldn’t last long, knowing Hyunjin’s job and all, but he let himself enjoy the fictional world he was living in until Hyunjin leaves again.

“What are you thinking about?” Hyunjin asked and Felix just smiled, looking at him again.

“You.”

When New Year came, Felix spent time with his family and Hyunjin did with his family while they were video-calling each other. They might have not shared a New Year’s kiss, but they talked from midnight to morning.

By the second day of 2022, Felix’s mother went to his room while he was getting ready for a day with Hyunjin again. “Honey.” She said as she sat on the bed and Felix looked at her. “Yes, mom?” He asked before sitting beside her.

“Are you in a relationship with Hyunjin?” She asked hesitantly and Felix was obviously caught off guard. “Um. No?” He answered in a questioning tone. “He hasn’t asked me to be his boyfriend and neither have I.” He answered, scratching his neck.

“I just..” His mother said before sighing. “He’s an idol, hon. He’ll have to go back to the city and he might not want the world to know about what you two have.” She said, placing a hand on his arm. “I just don’t want you to be hurt.” She added, Felix gave her a smile, placing a hand above hers.

“He’s going back to the city in eight days and I went into this knowing that I will be hurt when he leaves and forgets about me, but I’ll be okay.” He said.

And he was okay. Knowing Hyunjin would be going back soon, he wanted to spend the rest of his days in this small town with him, doing whatever he wanted.

They have ordered chicken and bought beers as they stayed on the roof, laughing about stuff from their past, sharing unforgettable moments and unusual ones.

It was like that for the next five days, both of them meeting more than usual, sometimes longer, because they knew that it would come to an end.

Felix could feel it, Hyunjin wanted to talk, so he approached him on his third to the last day, tears already forming in his eyes but he blinked them away. “So, you’re leaving.” Felix said, his voice shaking from the cold coming in from a slightly opened window and nervousness.

“I am.” Hyunjin said, frowning as he leaned on the wall by a shelf. “I don’t want to.” Hyunjin added and Felix closed his eyes, letting his head hang. “You know you have to.” Felix said, lifting his head again and looking at Hyunjin.

They looked at each other for a few seconds before Felix looked away. “You knew we wouldn’t.. we couldn’t..” Felix couldn’t even finish the sentence but Hyunjin understood.

“We can try-”

“I don’t want you to do anything that can damage your career.” Felix said, the tears he fought so hard to keep in finally spilled. “It’s one thing to be in a relationship as an idol, but to be in a relationship with a man? ” Felix asked him. “That would ruin you.” He added and Hyunjin’s eyebrows knitted.

“I don’t care if they found out I’m gay and in love, Felix.”

Felix blinked at him, vision a bit blurry from his tears but he could still see Hyunjin. In a different scenario, Felix might’ve laughed because it sounded like a joke, but the intense look that Hyunjin was giving him made his breath hitch.

“I’m in love with you. I know it seems sudden but I am, I can’t help it.” Hyunjin said, stepping forward as he took Felix’s cold hands in his. “I love you.” Hyunjin said with such emotion that Felix almost told he loved him back.

He does love him back. He does understand that it seems sudden. He knew how hard it was to stop from falling but he couldn’t help but do.

Felix squeezed his hand before wrapping his arms around him, placing his cheek on Hyunjin’s chest. “Have a safe trip back.” Felix said in almost a whisper, giving him another tight squeeze before stepping away.

I love you too.

Hyunjin went back to the city, devastated and sent Felix a bunch of texts, yet Felix only read them. “My boy!” His manager excitedly called out when he saw him standing by the door, waiting for his security team to set up.

“Hyung.” He greeted him with a small smile. His manager was so busy and excited about the new works they had that he had to stop him. “I just need a day of silence. Can I have that?” Hyunjin asked and his manager noticed the weird energy around him so he agreed.

He spent the whole night staring at his wall with his phone beside him, waiting for Felix to say something, anything.

But nothing came.

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. He was writing and writing, creating music even when he was about to go do a shoot and another performance.

All these songs were about Felix.

But no one had to know that.

Except for Felix.

“I love them.” One of the producers said before looking at him. “It fits your current image.” Another said and Hyunjin blinked. “What do you mean?” He asked and the man shrugged. “Boyfriend-material.” He said and Hyunjin nodded his head, fighting the urge to snort.

Sure.

And so, a few months passed again and it was finally released. Now, he was in his third interview about the album and the question was spinning in his head.

Have you ever been in love?

“Well..” He said, biting on his lip before smiling. “Yeah.” He answered, looking at the shocked interviewer. “Everyone has been in love right?” He asked back and the interviewer nodded her head. “So, is this woman your inspiration for this album?” She asked.

“I don’t think it’s right to assume if one’s inspiration is a man or a woman, right?” Hyunjin asked again, fixing the way he sat on the chair. “One’s inspiration can be a place. Maybe it was a rooftop with pretty lights and hot choco.” He added, shrugging his shoulders.

“Maybe it’s a library. The books. Maybe the weather.” Hyunjin continued. “Everyone has fallen in love. But it doesn’t have to be specific to a living person.” He finished and the interviewer got quiet while his manager looked like he was having the time of his life.

Behind his manager, he saw a familiar blonde hair peeking between tall men. He squinted a little when the men moved to the side to have the person come at the front.

Felix.

“This album is about falling in love. Period.” He said, almost breathless but loud.

Hyunjin felt like his heart was about to burst, he felt like jumping out of his seat and running towards him to kiss him, to hug him. But he stayed still, expression unchanging as he smiled at the interviewer. The interviewer took that chance to go on to the next question about the music video that was coming soon.

When the interview ended, Felix walked around the staff as Hyunjin walked towards him. “Hi.” Felix greeted with a smile. The smile that Hyunjin missed so much, the smile that Hyunjin loved seeing each day. “Hi.” Hyunjin greeted him before he looked around to see the staff members.

“Come with me.” Hyunjin said, taking him to his dressing room. When he knew they were alone, he faced Felix. “What.. what are you doing here?” Hyunjin asked him and Felix bit his lip before speaking. “Your songs. They’re for me, right?” He asked back and Hyunjin nodded slowly.

“Yes. But why.. what..”

Felix gave him a small smile. “I’m sorry for pushing you away.” Felix said, exhaling slowly. “But when you left and when you stopped texting, I realized I made a mistake.” Felix said, frowning. “I made a mistake of not giving this a chance because I was scared.” He continued.

“Scared for you. For me. For what our future will look like once they find out.” He said, combing back his hair. “But I want to give this a chance. I want to fight.” He said, looking at Hyunjin.

“I’ve been wanting that for months.” Hyunjin said, relief in his voice knowing that Felix was here and he wanted what he did.

With a wide smile, Felix stepped forward, stepping on his toes and reaching both of his hands up to cup his cheeks before kissing him.

They both felt the longing, the pain, the happiness. They felt everything in that one long kiss. Hyunjin pulled him closer by the waist, bending down a little as he tilted his head. Their lips felt like puzzle pieces coming together, fitting just right.

Felix was the first to pull away, cheeks flushed and lips parted for a breath. “I love you.” Felix whispered, hugging him. Hyunjin smiled widely, picking him up a little so that Felix’s toes lifted off the ground. “I love you.” Felix repeated.

“I love you too.” Hyunjin whispered back.
