Chapter 1: Gunvolt's Profile (CSZ)

Chapter Text

Gunvolt is a 14 year-old boy who controls the Azure Striker Septima. So far, he’s the only successful case of the “Project Gunvolt”, a project aimed at mass production of Azure Striker adepts, which was carried out in top secret by the Sumeragi Group. The name “Gunvolt” is taken from the project that gave birth to his current self, even though that isn’t his real name. However, in recent events, he discards this name in favor of Zero. The teen’s ability is so powerful that it allows him to cross blades with most adepts, powered up or not, on equal grounds.

About a few months ago, during his battles with Eden, an adept supremacist group, he lost everything he cherished deeply. He defeated Eden’s leader, but the aftermath of his battles against the faction left his soul severely aching, and that wore away at him with each passing day. After a barely unsuccessful attempt of putting himself out of misery, he decides to leave the mansion where he resided previously and begins to wander aimlessly around the country in order to do some soul searching.

While travelling from one place to another, Zero comes to learn of the faction that he wanted to forget completely. And he, who had a sense of self-attribution for having driven Japan into its fragile state, and as his way of starting to rectify his sins, Zero opposes the faction of the past who attempts to close the way to co-existence between adepts and humans.

Obsidian Cloak

It’s an armor that Zero made from extremely rare materials he procured from a special dealer. Apart from being very lightweight, it resonates with the teen’s Septima and can change many of its aspects. Like his previous armor, this one can generate a special EM field to repulse the Greed Snatcher, which, while it made the boy suffer in the past, isn’t considered a threat anymore due to him having the weapon at his disposal.

Azure Spirits

They’re the soul fragments of Zero’s former mentor, who was also an Azure Striker, that spread to several places. After absorbing them into his body, the teen’s Septima degenerated and created several new skills for him to use. After the Eden incident, it seemed that they made a lasting effect on the adept, as his appearance changed drastically, along with creating even more new skills for him to use, with one of them allowing Zero to break Grand Strizer into several bits and use them to shred enemies, increasing the efficiency of the attack and decreasing the amount of effort needed to perform the technique.

Memento Necklace

It’s a handmade pendant that was gifted to Zero by a person whom he cherished in the past. While it was already repaired for him before the Eden incident, Zero added a few new touches to the pendant and made its condition near pristine, since the keepsake was pretty important to him.

Border

It’s a revolver gun he took possession of during one of his missions against Eden. It is unclear why the teen decided to get the gun, but regardless, he uses it in conjunction with his Dart Leader during his quarrel with the enemy faction. Like his former mentor, Gunvolt has the ability to apply special effects to the bullets fired from this gun, but he does so rarely in order to conserve ammo and preserve the gun’s condition enough for future maintenance.

Blitz Dash

Blitz Dash is one of the abilities Zero has recently learned, partially due to Azure Spirits’ lasting influence. With Blitz Dash, he can temporarily turn his body into electrons, much like how when he uses Prevasion, and traverse a long distance in the air. When he collides with an enemy during Blitz Dash, the teen leaves a tag on them and bounces back in the air. This tag allows him to do more damage with his lightning attacks than his normal tags, but he can’t apply it to multiple targets at once.

Streak Mask

It’s a mask with a red visor the teen has made before setting out. The existence of this piece of equipment is due to his appearance reminding him of the person whom the teen cared for in the past, and to numb the negative emotions, Zero uses this mask to cover his face most of the time.

Z-Saber

A mysterious blade Zero encounters while roaming the country. Its abilities are so vast that the teen believes it is impossible to put to use its full potential. The blade grants the teen the ability to copy the Septimas of the adepts he defeats and make them a part of his arsenal, which makes his battling capabilities even higher.

Chapter 2: Koldryr's Profile

Chapter Text

Koldryr is a 15 year-old boy who’s a member of the Guardians. The teen wields the “Mecha Vitae” Septima. He harbors a passion for all that is related to machinery and fully devotes himself to the cause, even if his indifferent attitude conceals it from the others somewhat. He was born in a family consisting of his mother and father, plus the little sister whom he made many inventions for her to play with. Koldryr wasn’t exactly talkative, but he cherished the family and friends he had. Due to the nature of his ability, the boy always performed well during the invention exhibitions. However, soon some rumors began to spread that he was an adept, and he genuinely tried to disprove them by continuing to make more inventions and explaining his creating process to the others. One day, after returning from an exhibition, Koldryr was in for a grim scene, with his house being burned down to its core, with no survivors. Later on, news spread out that a person influenced by the rumors had done the deed. On that day, Koldryr gained a cold disposition towards humans. It’s said that Koldryr is one of the head scientists behind the Gauntlets’ creation, which boost the offensive capabilities of the Guardians.

Mecha Vitae

Mecha Vitae is a Septima that applies the user’s energy to operate machines, as well as boost their capabilities. The difference between his and Zero’s operating is that Koldryr doesn’t affect the software, but rather, the physical body of a machine. Machines that are gifted with Mecha Vitae show more potential than the ones that weren’t affected by Koldryr, as was proven several times during the Guardians’ test runs.

Armatus Tank

It’s an enormous tank that originates from the Mantis units Sumeragi has produced in the past. Koldryr has spent most of his time in the Guardians preparing a complete overhaul of the Sumeragi mech, but at the time of his encounter with Zero, Koldryr is forced to manually operate the tank instead of finishing it and making it autonomous.

Chapter 3: Grymre's Profile

Chapter Text

Grymre is a 17 year-old boy who’s one of the Guardians.

This man possesses the “Aeroforce” Septima. During his childhood, he grew up receiving special education for talented children in fencing. Grymre has shown the most impressive of the results during that period and few were able to even offer a slight challenge to him when it came to his gift. However, in one of the matches a sabotage by his rival due to their jealousy happened and Grymre suffered heavy injuries that rendered him unable to continue for a while. A rage so unlike him kept brewing in his heart during that period and once he was capable of fencing again, he doubled his efforts and practiced restlessly, until a point when he created a razor blade of wind from his rapier thrust. It was then that Grymre found a new passion for sculpting objects with his ability. After some time had passed, he was noticed by one of the Guardians and offered a place for his skill, making him the most recent member to join. Now, the teen commands the Guardians’ cargo ship.

Aeroforce

It’s a Septima that allows Grymre to create bursts of wind around him. He can calibrate through his will whether the gusts will just push things away or be sharp enough that they could be used as makeshift blades. Normally, it requires plenty of effort to control more than 2-3 different bursts of air, but when Grymre transforms with the “Gauntlet”, it becomes much easier to do.

Gauntlets

Devices that imitate Sumeragi’s “Glaives” to the best of their capabilities. While their spiritual power is lower than that of the Glaives, they serve their purpose of boosting the user’s Septima well. The transformation phenomenon seemed to carry over to the devices, as during one of the Gauntlets’ tests by the Guardians, the user underwent the same changes as a Sumeragi adept.

Chapter 4: Levia's Profile

Chapter Text

Levia is a 16 year-old girl who wields the “Cryogen” Septima. She was born in pleasant circumstances, but she and her family got torn apart during Levia’s childhood because of the girl’s “gift” that emerged without warning. Once she was rescued by Quill’s leader, Levia settled in and began doing missions for the organization to express her gratitude. Her skill of handling missions was nothing short of superb: speed and stealth are two of the key elements of Levia’s style. After some time had passed, the girl got popular amongst her fellow teammates, especially males, due to her stunning looks. Some of Quill’s members that were young referred to Levia as a big sister because she was always there to solve conflicts and help with whatever was causing the issue. The girl didn’t mind the way she was called. In fact, that only seemed to boost her cheerful attitude. After the organization’s leader gets slain, she joins the Guardians, a sub-faction of the fractured Quill, to seek the one behind her mentor’s death and to seal the way of co-existence between humans and adepts.

Cryogen

It’s a Septima that allows Levia to freely control ice and shape it into whatever she deems appropriate for the situation. Apart from changing the ice’s form, she’s able to change its hardness, and depending on the amount of effort Levia exerts, the ice’s hardness can make it near impossible to break even with specific tools. Sometimes the icicle can act as a shield that prevents enemies from approaching her, sometimes it takes the form of an ice fang that can puncture most of the materials. Those are just a few ways Levia can use her ability.

Guardians

A sub-faction of Quill whose members have greatly suffered because of the organization leader’s death and have taken it upon themselves to avenge him and fulfill his dream of wiping out humans. Apart from a team consisting of elite adepts, most of the members don’t wield Septimas that would greatly boost the Guardians’ ambitions, so they usually act as guards of facilities that the faction has taken over since the Kamishiro barrier incident. Levia has moved up in the ranks at an impressive rate and has landed herself a role of maintaining the submarine “Iron Whale” that the Guardians are preparing in order to proceed with their ambitions.

Chapter 5: Yzat's Profile

Chapter Text

Yzat is an 18 year-old girl who has the “Hellblaze” Septima. She’s one of the Guardians. Despite being the oldest of the elite adepts, she was actually one of the most recent additions to the faction. She greatly loves fire and all that’s associated with it, which most likely stems from both her personality and the ability she has. Yzat has a peculiar habit of comparing many things to the flames, namely how bright they burn in her eyes. Alongside her passion for fire, the teen loves having tough battles against powerful opponents, and so she actively seeks people who can ignite the flames of her soul the most during a fight, which Levia was able to do, earning Yzat’s profound respect. The fiery girl believes that people constantly need conflict and strife to evolve to their utmost potential, which she supports by bringing up the past feuds of humanity. Yzat also deems humans inferior to adepts because of their cowardness and fear of the unknown, though one human stood up to her back when she was a gang leader and fought until the end, which shook her ideals slightly. Yzat joined the Guardians in hopes of getting to cross blades with a powerful adept who managed to thwart the Diva Project in the past, but so far, her wish hasn’t been granted yet.

Hellblaze

Hellblaze is a Septima that has similar origins to Explosion, but its arsenal overall is vastly different. The Septima allows the user to bathe themselves in flames with no risk for their health and charge towards opponents like a stream of fire, incinerating everything in its path. Besides that usage of the ability, she can shape the flames she produces into anything that the teen wants, which makes Yzat’s arsenal similar to Levia’s and Grymre’s, aside from the different elements of the attacks. Yzat’s ambitious spirit only fuels Hellblaze to be even more powerful, making her a formidable opponent to face.

Chapter 6: Riegis' Profile

Chapter Text

Riegis is a 16 year-old boy who belongs to the Guardians. He possesses the “Vivid Vitriol” Septima. He became an orphan at a young age and so he was forced to commit crimes in order to survive in the nation of Japan. His ability came in handy for various thefts, as the chemicals he created provided multiple effects, ranging from poison to explosives. Riegis has never been caught, but many of his accomplices did, and that made joining other teams of people with the same interests harder and harder for him mentally. Eventually, during a major criminal act, Sumeragi had almost captured the teen, but the Guardians intervened and offered him a spot in their faction, to which he promptly agreed, on the condition of him having a facility where Riegis could freely perform his experiments. During his first months with the Guardians, Riegis made friends with Koldryr and grew to respect his teammate, as both of them were men of science who shared similar views on the world. Some of the alchemist’s results are rarely used by Brarom for stealth missions that require utmost precision and the lack of obstacles in the way, so that makes Riegis’s addition vital to the faction. While he tends to avoid any potential fights, should he feel that his comfort zone, the chemical facility, is in danger, he will violently repel the offender with an array of highly-powered explosives.

Vivid Vitriol

Vivid Vitriol is a Septima that allows Riegis to create many sorts of chemicals with different effects, the most common one being an explosive. The Vivid part comes from the fact that even if he creates the same chemical, its color will always differ from its past version, which makes for a great diversion element when fighting enemies, as remembering what color corresponds to what attack will be a fruitless strategy for the opponents. Aside from offensive capabilities, Vivid Vitriol lets Riegis make support potions, ranging from healing wounds to applying helpful effects, like increasing speed and strength.

Chapter 7: Brarom's Profile

Chapter Text

Brarom is a 15 year-old boy who has the “Ninja Arts” Septima. He was born in a clan family with a kind-hearted mother and an overly serious father who valued reputation above all else. The boy’s ability was discovered during one of his training sessions. Having learned the truth about his son, the father’s heart started to grow colder with each passing day, which resulted in the teen participating in grueling training sessions with few to no breaks in-between in order to maximize his potential. Brarom’s mother tried to interrupt this unhealthy practice several times, but she was unsuccessful during every attempt, until one day his father went too far and struck the woman so hard the injury wasn’t compatible with her life. In the midst of his grief and the thought of getting killed next, Brarom has utilized his Septima and killed his father, fleeing his home afterwards. His aimless wandering made him trapped in a cold delusion: “Be silent as a shadow and expressionless as a robot.” It’s unclear for what reason the boy has joined the Guardians, even the leader ponders that from time to time, especially the ninja’s peculiar pattern of speech that resembles that of a machine. However, whenever Brarom is faced with an unexpected problem or he doesn’t have a usual edge over his opponents, his facade breaks and his emotions start to leak.

Ninja Arts

Ninja Arts is a Septima that allows Brarom to conceal himself in his surroundings and strike his unaware foes. Coupled with his excellent usage of smoke bombs and other ninja-like weapons, it makes for a terrifying ability. The Septima's name was given by Brarom himself since no one else has it, plus the fact how well this ability has served him over the passage of time. Whenever Brarom finds himself in a rough spot, he may concentrate the energy inside him and use it to fend off enemies. However, doing so while severely wounded may prove fatal to the user, but he hasn’t been in a situation like that even once.

Chapter 8: Astrite's Profile

Chapter Text

Astrite is a 14 year-old boy who has the “Speed Star” Septima. He acts as the Guardians’ leader’s right-hand man, solving issues on his behalf and maintaining the team’s efforts in his absence. Astrite is mostly a nice guy to be around, except when someone makes any kind of mention of Zero, which grinds his gears on a whole other level. This kind of reaction stems from his supposed rivalry with Zero back when he was still with Quill. Despite the boy having more combat experience than his peer, he kept losing to Zero every single time they fought, and the leader at that time noted the thunder adept’s growth a lot, which made Astrite jealous, since he felt like his efforts weren’t being appreciated anymore. Coupled with the fact Astrite’s parents abandoned him at an early age because his results were lacking when his Septima was taken into consideration, that left a gaping wound in his heart, and so he pushed himself to the utmost limits in order to impress Asimov once more, the one who offered him a spot in Quill during the boy’s time of need, earning his deep gratitude. With Quill’s leader gone, Astrite joins the Guardians without hesitation once he learns of his savior’s goals from the Guardians’ leader. Outside of the missions, he freely converses with his teammates and his stoic personality shifts into a more relaxed one. Whenever one of the members is facing any kind of issues, he tries to resolve them as the vice leader of the Guardians, but due to his lack of life experience, sometimes it proves impossible for him to offer any advice, which makes Astrite uncomfortable, as his image of a vice leader is a person with no flaws.

Speed Star

Speed Star is a Septima that allows Astrite to accelerate his body and move at amazing speeds, rivaling that of the Azure Striker adepts. While in acceleration state, his attacks charge, and once he’s ready, Astrite unleashes a flurry of fast attacks that can deal tremendous damage if all hits connect. Using the ability too many times in a short period of time leaves him somewhat vulnerable, though, as it causes his senses to temporarily overload, so Astrite always follows the pattern of attacking and then defending by staying away from his opponent at a long distance to avoid that flaw of his.
