Chapter Text
It was a brand new day and recently, things about the Madrigal Family have been uncovered, and honestly, you weren't surprised; you were part of a family who had their own magic. Your family was quite big and even fused a union with the Madrigals, your houses at the both ends of the town, facing each other. As it turns out, your Lola was friends with their Abuela, so she hurriedly accepted your family in town. Both families used their special talents to help the place and you did your best in doing so.
Your magic was quite entertaining and amusing, especially to kids. Illusions were your specialty and frankly, your powers were very good when combined with Camilo's; we know he shape shifts and pulls pranks from time to time, and with a flick of your powers, it adds up to the prank making it even more better. Your family on the other hand, was quite rambunctious and chaotic, though they were very loving. Lola Imelda was the head of the family, being that she was the eldest and she's where the family's enchantment started. It wasn't as tragic as the Madrigal's, but it was something that always made your family who they were.
It started when Lola Imelda fled her home country, the Philippines. There she had to leave but soon got stranded in one of the Islands where she met a lunar moon goddess, mythology known as, Haliya. Your family were presumed as descendants of moon citizens as passed down by previous generations of different members. A plant that had luminescence at night was graced, giving each member magic that shall and would be used to help and aid others. It was a plant that never died or withered off to death. Every member of the family had to water it everyday, as they took turns. It sat right at the windowsill of the dining area where everyone gathered to feast upon various meals that your Uncle prepared. He had control over fire and temperatures as he also was the king of the kitchen, to add, he was the youngest child. Your Mother was the middle child, and had the ability to stop time, so she always handled the events when time almost runs out; she's very cranky on those days, so wouldn't want to get her all balled up and mad. You also had an Aunt, and she was a very cool one as everyone described her to be. Her being the oldest, her kids were your cool older cousins, Ligaya and Edwin.
Your cousins were people you treated more as siblings, especially how you were an only child. Your Uncle had three children, and your Aunt had three as well. Joan, Amor, and Alonzo were siblings, same as Mateo, Ligaya, and Edwin. They were people you always spent time with and of course, quarrels exist at home. Alonzo was the youngest in the family as he's 7 years old and was gifted the power to be able to teleport, while Joan and Amor are twins whose minds are connected with one another, as they always had silent conversations in their mind; they're both 14, Amor being a few minutes older than her twin. Ligaya is 26 years old and she can read people's minds so she knows and will read you to death if you ever piss her off. Edwin is a 23 year old boy whose singing voice can crush mountains based on his control over sound waves and different frequencies. Finally, Mateo, 10 years old and he didn't have magic, but everyone tried their best to make sure he felt belonged. You were the third eldest cousin, aging 20 with as mentioned in a previous paragraph, the power to make illusions with a snap of your fingers.
Their Abuela and your Lola Imelda met when she arrived at shore, walking through the forests with three children; your Aunt, Uncle and mother. Her kids and Alma's children were known to be childhood friends, and together they helped rebuild the community to what it is now.
In present time, the Madrigal family resolved their differences, seeing how Mirabel's situation with her family was now at a positive note, ending yet another chapter in her family's life. Your family and the townsfolk all helped in rebuilding their house as they settled in Casita afterwards. Now was just an ordinary but special day after all of the recent and mixed emotional events that occurred. Everyone was back, their magic was back.
You were currently at the town square with Bruno and a small stage where a play he directed is currently playing. Children gathered in front of the said stage where they carefully watched the show as you made illusions of the characters and the settings as if they were watching a telenovela. It was of course a very special day that day, so the whole town gathered in one big celebration. Edwin, Mirabel, and Camilo were performing on a different corner where the younger brunette was surprisingly good at the ukulele. Isabela and Ligaya were in the crowd's center, dancing to the lively beat of the music, while your Uncle and Mirabel's parents were in the kitchen preparing different dishes that would fill that town's stomach with satisfaction. It was a very nice feeling knowing how the town is now alive once again, though it's always like this. Abuela Alma and Lola Imelda were just chatting and talking about whatever topic it was that grandmother's usually talk about. But only one person was caught by your everlasting flair; someone who only had eyes on you in a crowd of vivacious people.
"Your stare feels like it could stab someone, Luisa.", Dolores, one of the eldest cousins, whispered with her toes tipped because of the height difference. "I'm not staring.", she took her eyes away from your view. You were smiling and laughing alongside the children you and Bruno were entertaining which made her heart flutter. Luisa got nervous and tried to make up different excuses before her line of thinking got interspersed. "You know Luisa, you could just go there and tell her.", the older woman chuckled, laying a hand on the other's shoulder gently, "I hear you mumbling confession plans at night, but you always chicken out.". This left the taller one flustered as hues of pink began to slowly appear on her cheeks, "Let's keep quiet for now.", she replied in a strained tone. Dolores merely shrugged off her shoulders before proceeding towards Isabela and Ligaya; the two ladies were still on the dance floor enjoying the music and dancing. "I feel like I'm in a clichè telenovela, and it is a big slow burn.", she spoke softly towards the two before getting pulled on the sidelines. "Is this about Luisa and my cousin?", Ligaya tried not to laugh at Dolores in her frustrated state. "Jusko, those two? They are so oblivious, like what the heck.", your cousin face palmed herself before nodding her head left to right, "I bet you can hear (Name) at night too.", she added. "Yeah and obviously my sister too. They're also a very good match if you ask me.", Isabela replied, her eyes sneakily looking at the sight up front; you accidentally caught Luisa looking at you as you returned a smile towards her with a little wave which she quickly reciprocated. "It's cute and all, but if you were me, you'd both hear them at night talking about each other and it's so-", Dolores stopped mid-way, not being able to get a grip of the right words so in the end, she just gave up, "that lighthearted but irritating type of mutual pining.", she exhaled in defeat. "Well, if you look at it, we all basically grew up together but (Name) and Luisa seem to be closer together in both of our families.", the black haired girl that grew flowers uttered with her pointer finger placed on her chin, "Although we support them and I know Mama and Papa too, I think your Lola and our Abuela will kinda be hesitant if ever that they have a romantic relationship.", both Ligaya and Dolores nodded their heads when suddenly, three people came barging in on their conversation. "What's the tea, ladies?", Camilo joked, noticing how they've been conversing for some time now. "Hey 'Gaya, is this about oblivious dorks? I'll place my bet already.", he snickered, waving invisible bills. "Wait what? Who are these 'oblivious dorks' we're talking about?", Mirabel came in, making a quote on quote gesture before raising her left eyebrow. The first three people in the conversation faced her then mumbled, "Luisa and (Name)", before she reacted with an 'ohh', and as obvious as it was, it seemed like she wasn't even surprised. "I'm not even astounded or surprised.", she said before covering her mouth to sound a bit more quiet.
"What if we set them up?"
Camilo suggested, earning a high five from Mirabel, "That sounds good!", she exclaimed. "No, what if! Wait, this is a good one! My brain juices are working today", Edwin pumped his fist into the air, "Luisa courts her!", he placed both hands on his waist afterwards, "That's actually great too, 'Win.", Dolores replied, before adding, "What I've heard from your Mom, courting or 'panliligaw' is a tradition in your culture so it might work out.", The youngest male in the group stepped up, "So it's like setting them up?", then received a reply from Ligaya, "Yup! But it might take a few days or weeks, plus, Luisa needs to ask for her parents' blessing if we're going on a really traditional part." Isabela was deep in thought while everyone shared their ideas but then came her turn to talk, "Flowers are romantic and somewhat traditional, right? I'll be incharge of that.", she was psyched and especially very happy for her younger sister so she just went all in. The six people continued with their plan but of course, they still knew their limits and if either you or Luisa didn't really cooperate with what they're looking for then they'll respect that.
Your show ended as you noticed that the tall and muscular woman sat alone on a bench looking quiet and peaceful, so you decided to make your way towards her. "What's up?", you placed both of your hands on her shoulders with her back facing you, as your hands felt her tense up. "Don't be tense, it's just me, silly.", you laughed quietly before making your way on the free seat beside her, "Is this taken?", you asked before Luisa replied with a 'no'. Your head nodded before getting comfortable beside her. "So how was your day so far?", you asked before she looked at you then turned back at her previous line of sight with a smile on her face, "It was ok, but I bet it would've been better if I spent it more with you.", a small beam of happiness graced her face. "Well I do say that I'm a fun person, and maybe even fun-er than you.", you chuckled before getting shouldered on your arm as a joke then almost fell off the bench, "Oh boy, I'm sorry!", she quickly took your arm, pulling you closer beside her in panic. "Sheesh, Hercules. You're really strong.", you laughed as her ears perked hearing your positive energy around her, "Dang, sometimes I forget how strong you are," you faced her with a cheeky grin, "and you're so cool.", you poked her bicep, "and kinda soft?" Your eyes caught hers and looked at each other for a couple of seconds then both breaking character and laughed. "Your humor is broken, (Name). And It's contagious.", she shook her head filled with thoughts of you. "And I'm glad you're infected with it."
Spending moments like this with Luisa was always something that just completed your day, and honestly, you never wanted it to end. She's just really incredible and remembering how you saw how broken she was when she lost her gift, you wanted to jump in but it was a situation where her family and herself were the only ones involved so you stepped down since it's very personal matters. Just seeing the woman feel more open to her family made you content as she didn't really openly talk about her feelings before.
