Chapter Text
Camilo Madrigal was a troublemaker. He had always been one, especially when he got his gift. He would pull pranks on everyone at anytime of the day.
This time, his prank did not succeed. Camilo felt nauseous as he saw the scene in front of him. His intention was to put you in a better mood, not hurt you. He shape-shifted into a few townspeople before turning back to himself after seeing the mess he caused.
He rushed towards you and wrapped a cloth around your cut on your hand while you winced in pain and cussed him out.
The teenager, almost adult, carried you bridal style all the way from your family bakery to Casita, where his tia Julieta could absolutely help.
Everyone stared at you while he ran home since we was yelling at everyone to get out of the way and you kept yelling at him.
Before you even reached the house of the Madrigals, you saw the door opened for you both. Dolores and Maribel stood in front of it. His sister definitely heard what was going on.
You finally entered Casita and Camilo kept shouting, this time for his Tia. He never let go of you even if you asked him to put you down. He felt so bothered by his sister and cousin reprimanding him, he only wanted you to be okay.
When Julieta was done with the buñuelos, Camilo snatched one from her hands and shoved it in your mouth. With your mouth full, you tried yelling at him again, only to be silenced by him.
“Just eat the damn buñuelo!” And that’s when you finally had a glance of his face. His eyes were full of tears and desperation to see you swallow the food. So you did as he said. With your healthy hand, you took away the buñuelo, leaving a chewable portion inside of your mouth
Without giving you a warning, Camilo put you down on the table and uncovered your hand, relief washing over him as he saw it go back to normal. Yes, it still had blood in it, but the cut wasn’t there anymore and that made him feel at peace. “I’m so sorry, mi vida. From the bottom of my heart, I am so, deeply so- Ow?!” He complained at Dolores’ slap on the head.
“Answer Tia’s question,” She said. He was so concentrated on you, he didn’t hear when his aunt talked to him.
“How did this happen, Milo?” He sighed heavily remembering how it all happened.
“Well…“ Camilo grabbed your hand and caressed it.
The Madrigal knew you were going to be busy that week, so he offered some help. That day specifically, he was helping you on the kitchen.
You had just finished having a stupid argument with him when you noticed you were out of eggs. In an attempt of cooling off, you asked him to go buy some while you stayed and cut the fruits you were going to use for the pies.
Of course you weren’t facing the door and of course you were concentrated trying not to cut your fingers while you cut the fruits quickly. However, for your misfortune, you didn’t hear when he put the basket down and walked towards to scare you. We all know how that ended: both of you panicking and shouting on your way to the Madrigal home.
Julieta sighed and her back to you. “You need to be more careful next time, Camilo. Make sure you check up on her from time to time. Judging by this cloth, she lost quite some blood”.
“I’m alright, señora Julieta,” You said drawing everyone’s attention to you. “I have to go back to work. Sorry for the… incident and thank you for helping me,” you smiled at them, even Camilo, but he knew you were quite upset at him.
“Y/n…” he tried grabbing your wrist, but failed.
“I have to work. We’ll talk later.”
Chapter Text
Every Madrigal felt worried about Camilo. He had been acting like a lost puppy after the incident and despite wanting to be with you, he knew you wanted space. He even decided to use the time away in his favor to plan a new apology.
Not only was he going to apologize for the argument, but he’d apologize again for the failed prank and the injury.
When he had everything set, he continuously paced in his room, repeating everything over, and over again so he wouldn’t forget.
Of course it wouldn’t work. It didn’t matter how much he practiced and memorized what he was going to say. The simple sight of you made him forget everything he had in mind.
He loved everything about you. How your eyes shone whenever you stargazed together or whenever you two would make eye contact, or how your cheeks blushed whenever he called you his pretty girl.
He loved it when you kissed his cheeks and lips, and when you played with his hair and styled it. Also when you smiled so genuinely to the point you’d cover your face out of embarrassment. He was head over heels for you.
And trust me when I tell you he imagined every scenario possible about you two, only to be interrupted by his sister because she could hear his heart beating so quickly and loudly, and his heavy sighs. Like now. Camilo would’ve continued admiring you mentally if it weren’t for Dolores who knocked on his door and asked him to shut up.
Out of pettiness, he would’ve continued thinking about you, but this time he’d be considerate because he still felt guilty about everything.
The scene replayed in his mind. Him putting down the basket and scaring you. You gasping in shock and shouting his name. Realizing what he has done and carrying you all the way to Casita.
The argument, in the other hand… It wasn’t really an argument, you were just venting and he unconsciously ignored you, so you were extremely upset.
Without noticing, he stood in front of his mother’s door. Last thing he heard about her was that she’d be out all day so this was the perfect moment to talk with his father.
He waited for his father to let him in after knocking. “Camilo, my boy! Come tell Papá what’s wrong”.
“How do you know something’s wrong?” the shapeshifter asked.
“Dolores yelled at you to shut up and you did. Now, open up” Félix was right and Camilo hated it.
He helped his son plan how to solve his problems and his son felt confident about how everything would go.
Camilo went all out. He asked Julieta to bake some sweets, asked Isabela to make a bouquet with your favorite flowers and he even asked Mirabel to make matching bracelets for you both. Promise bracelets, that’s what he told Mirabel.
He was beyond excited and ready to get it over with.
