Fighting For You.

Summary:

A Drabble made during drunken late hours for a ship I didn't even know was a thing.

Work Text:

Lara stepped into the enclosed sanctuary. Dropping her sword to skid along the floor as she sat on one of the old, withered chairs. She raised the sword to examine the damage done so she could see where to sharpen the dull steel. She laid the blade on her thigh and began wiping away at the offending fluids.

Bringing the stone to the steel, she began striking in an upward movement, maintaining the angle of the sword itself. Diana presented herself. Rushing in with scrapes and bruises to find her lover slowly recreating the same efficiency the blade had had before.

"They're coming." Diana said through heavy pants. "Can you handle holding down the fort?"

Diana reached behind Lara to get the club that laid against the wall and it was almost a sin that Lara didn't kiss at her neck. Wonder Woman ran back up the steps to attack the offense with a yell. Lara hurried her movements. Moving between both sides of the sword to make sure to sharpen both sides. When the sword was brought back to life, Lara patted Calypso's head and headed up the steps to meet her blade with the breaching people.

"It's about time." Diana said with a sneer. Lara swung at her opponents, as practised. Wonder Woman drew people forward with her whip and eviscerated them with one strike. Croft's back met Diana's and they worked together to slay everything in their path.

Diana flicked her wrist and struck her opponents one hundred and eighty degrees of her. She could hear the yelling of Lara's voice but kept to flattening down any oncoming attacks. Lara brought her sword hard against the apex of her opponent’s neck. She drew the blade from their skin, smirking, as she continued her assault on the remaining enemies.

"I've got the rest of them." Croft said in a confident tone. "Let me protect you, for once." She angled the blade and attacked the remaining warriors with ease. Once they were down, she walked around, digging the tip of her sword into the fallen bodies to make sure that there was no life to be seen.

Lara came down the steps to find Wonder Woman ripping off a torn piece of fabric from her skirt and wrapping it around her forearm. Suddenly infuriated, Lara asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"It's nothing." Diana said, carelessly. Her eyes wandered up the bloody blade and had begun to assume the care the blade needed in order to be used again. "Come sit. You've done enough work."

"Why would you assume that our fight is singular?" She walked over and grazed her fingers over the wound. "We left together and I have made it my aim that no one will ever touch you." Her fingers came up from the wound and to her lover's chin. "Don't underestimate the calamity I'm willing to commit in your name."

Diana yielded, her eyes drawn to the prominent muscles in her partner's abdomen and upper arm. "I know you're perfectly capable of taking care of yourself."

Lara's mouth quirked up in a smile. "I will," she said slowly, in a low and husky voice, before kissing Diana. "destroy everyone in my path, if it leads to you."
