Even after the curse breaks, Emhyr is not whole again. Even after he has a wife, a home, a child- fear and paranoia haunt him. There are none he would call friend in Cintra and the executioner's axe hovers over him, an ever present threat.
Calanthe, the Cintrans, they resent him. He is anathema to them, to what they think a Prince, a man, should be. He is lithe and softly spoken where they expect brawn and braying tones. He avoids them when he can, all too aware of the violence that coils in their eyes when they look at him.
