Summary
Alicia and Nick Clark were polar opposites, always have been. She was the obedient, over-achieving daughter, and he was the drugged out, prodigal son. They moved in different circles growing up with little interest in understanding one another.
Alicia was jealous of her older brother. After all, how do you compete with the tragic, fallen boy everyone loves?
Nick had always been afraid to get too close to his younger sister. She was intelligent, confident, and bright. She was going places and he couldn’t bare the thought of corrupting her with his tainted youth, so he stayed away, jumping from rehab to drug den, from recovery to relapse. It was an exhausting dance.
Then the end of the world happened. And now, for the first time in years, through the broken frame of tragedy and delicate lens of remorse, two people who couldn’t be more different, were opening up their hearts to each other for the very first time.
It was dangerous. It was beautiful. It was shameful. It threatened to consume them both.
