Eunjin entered the password lock to her apartment and dropped her bags as soon as she stepped foot to her home. She stayed up all night shooting long scenes for her new drama because they will take a break from filming since it is the holiday season. As a result, the actors, actresses, crew and staff need to work extra hours to keep up with their schedule.
“Ohhh. I’m finally home, it’s a good thing that I can take a rest for a couple of days starting today.” Eunjin thought to herself. This feeling is a bit new to her since it is her first time being the main lead in a tv drama which meant more lines to memorize and more scenes to record but she is slowly adapting to the situation as time goes on.
It was around eight in the morning when she arrived in her apartment and she immediately slumped to the cushions of her sofa feeling the exhaustion of the long day she just had. Her eyes were almost closing until she felt her phone vibrate in the pocket of her pants indicating that she received a kakao text message.
“Eunjin-ah. Are you busy? Can I call you?” She smiled as she read the message from none other than her boyfriend, Kim Daemyung. She had not seen him for a couple of days now because of her busy schedule and frankly speaking, she had been missing him so badly. Eunjin felt giddy and felt her exhaustion washed off her body as soon as she saw the text and with that, she immediately pressed the video call button.
After a couple of rings, a handsome face showed up on her phone screen and greeted her.
“Opppaaaa” Eunjin said to Daemyung excitedly, trying to hide the tiredness on her voice.
“Eunjin-ah. Annyeong!” Daemyung grinned at Eunjin but quickly faded when he realized the dark circles forming on her girlfriend’s eyes. He instantly felt worried and concerned for her.
“Have you slept yet? You look tired. Are you sick? Are you alright?” Daemyung asked continuously.
“Oppa, I’m alright. I stayed up all night shooting but I’m at home now. You do not have to worry about me Oppa.” Eunjin replied to Daemyung and smiled brightly which earned a relieved face from him. “By the way, why did you want to call me, Daemyung oppa?” she asked.
“I just want to drop by and give you something but I guess it will have to wait. You need to go to sleep now, Eunjin-ah.” Daemyung answered her.
“But Oppa, can’t you give it to me now? You can drop by here, I won’t be sleeping yet anyway.” Eunjin pleaded and put her on cutest pouting face which Daemyung can’t resist.
“You really need to rest. I can sense that you are exhausted.” Daemyung firmly said trying hard not to give in.
“Oppa please? I will feel a lot better and less tired if you come by here.” Eunjin begged on the phone.
“Alright, fine. But as soon as I dropped of my gift, you need to rest. Is that a deal?” Daemyung said, unable to resist his girlfriend’s request.
“Yey! Deal. Be careful in driving. I’ll wait for you to come here. Bye!” Eunjin waved to her phone and so did Daemyung, both smiling brightly as they ended the video call.
Eunjin immediately stood up from her sofa and freshened up, feeling energized with the thought of seeing her boyfriend after a few minutes.
Meanwhile, Daemyung also readied himself and prepared the gift that he will be giving to Eunjin. It was a good thing that he bought it a few days ago and is already wrapped nicely. All that is left to do is to give it to Eunjin. Daemyung wore a black hoodie paired with black pants and a long coat together with his favorite Vans shoes. He put on his mask, cap and glasses to hide his identity from other people who may recognize him. He looked at the mirror one last time and feeling contented with his outfit, he grabbed the present and his car keys then drove to Eunjin’s place.
Eunjin has just finished her quick shower and put on her comfy clothes as she sat back on her couch. She scrolled through her Instagram feed for a while until she heard her doorbell rang. She felt her heart skip a beat and ran to her door to open it. There she saw the person that she had been longing to see for a few days now. Eunjin knows that she just saw his face during the video call earlier but she swore that her boyfriend looks even more handsome now that he is standing right in front of her.
“Eunjin-ah, hi.” Daemyung said sweetly to her which Eunjin replied with a hug. She wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling comfort and all her tiredness went away. Daemyung hugged her back tightly since he also missed her so much after a few days of not seeing each other.
“Oppa I missed you.” Eunjin said with her head still buried on Daemyung’s shoulder.
“I missed you too. So much.” Daemyung replied into Eunjin’s ear. They hugged each other for a while feeling each other’s presence until Daemyung broke the silence. “Can I go in now? I’m afraid someone might see us here.” He said with a snicker and they unwrapped themselves from their embrace. As soon as they entered her apartment, the couple proceeded to sit in the living room but his worrying instinct kicked in and inspected his girlfriend’s features.
“Have you been getting enough rest? Are you eating your meals properly? You really look thin, Eunjin-ah” Daemyung asked her with a concerned look, caressing her face and combing through her hair.
“Don’t worry about me, Daemyung oppa. I need to lose weight because of my role in the drama and I just had a few sleepless nights recently because we’ve been shooting lots of scenes. But don’t worry since starting today, it is my rest day until the holiday season is over.” Eunjin said positively with huge grin on her face trying to calm Daemyung down.
“That’s a relief then. You know I am always concerned for you. I don’t want you to get sick. Don’t overwork yourself please?” Daemyung said with a pout which made Eunjin pinch his right cheek because of his cuteness.
“I understand Daemyung oppa. I’m so lucky to have you and taking care of me. But what is it that you are going to give me? I’m really curious about it oppa.” Eunjin tried to change the subject so that her boyfriend will not worry about her anymore. She eyed the wrapped package that her Daemyung brought for her. He handed the gift to her and said “Open it”.
Eunjin excitedly removed the wrapper and her eyes widened when she saw that the present is a luxurious Korean meat set. She suddenly remembered watching a scene in one of the episodes of their variety show where Kyungho asked Daemyung to give her a meat set every Chuseok or Christmas.
“Wait, I didn’t think that you will really take it seriously. I thought that you just agreed to Kyungho oppa because there are cameras around.” Eunjin said feeling touched with what she received.
“Eunjin-ah, I meant what I said that time. Please consider this as my early Christmas gift to you. You can share it with your family if you would like to. This is just the first of the many presents I will give to you. I still have a long list of gifts for you this Christmas.” Daemyung said while holding Eunjin’s hand. Eunjin’s heart swelled with joy and hugged him again for the second time that day.
“Thank you oppa. I feel like I am the luckiest girl in the world because I have you by my side.” Eunjin said to Daemyung which he replied by tightening his arms around her.
“Hmm. Now I need to think of the best gifts to give you. What do you want for Christmas, oppa?” she asked. They are so close with each other now that they can feel each other’s hearts beating so fast.
“Let me be your date for this Christmas and the New Year, Eunjin-ah.” Daemyung released Eunjin from his arms and looked straight into her eyes while holding both of her hands.
“Spend your holiday break with me. I want us to be together for a long time and create wonderful memories for the both of us. It is all that I can ever ask for.” He said, pouring out his emotions in every word that he mentioned. Eunjin nodded and gave him a lingering kiss on the lips. “I’m more than happy to spend the holidays with you, oppa.” She said wholeheartedly.
“I can’t wait to end this year and start a brand-new year with you, Eunjin.” Daemyung replied as he also gave her a kiss on the lips. “Me too, oppa.” She replied. They cuddled for a short while in the sofa until Daemyung realized that Eunjin’s eyes were closed and she has already fallen asleep on his chest due to the exhaustion from the past few nights of heavy working.
After a few minutes, he then decided to carefully carry her into the bedroom so that she can rest comfortably.
After laying her on the bed, Daemyung whispered to her, “Ahn Eunjin, you are the best gift that I have ever received. Thank you for coming into my life.” He then gave her a kiss on the forehead.
