On that peaceful night at the firelights' base, everyone gathered to sleep after a difficult and exhausting mission, luckily no one got lost and only a few injuries were reported. Had been a while since things here had changed a little, due to Jinx's presence around the place. Ekko hoped that she would gain the trust of her friends soon, the same had already publicly apologized, nothing he asked her to do, just did it at one of the general meetings. The words she had said made him proud in a way, because it had been so pure and profound. The boy crept through the balconies ' corridors and stairs of that tree house, he said good night to some friends who passed him before entering his room in house at the base.
"-How are you feelling?" The same said when looking at her, his girlfriend with 4 months pregnant in bed just tinkering with parts of what appeared to be some mechanical toy, maybe Heimerdinger had given her that to distract herself.
"-Well, my pains are gone, now I'm trying to figure out how make this work!" The girl with bright pink eyes and blue hair with long braids that were unraveling answered him without taking her eyes off the objects she was working. "-Why?"
"-For Nothing, just checking. By the way, what are you trying to make work?" He walked around the room as changed into a sleeping clothes.
"-The toy, it's not mine, it belongs to one of the children in this place and she was crying and I wanted to help..."
She admitted that had some empathy for a young firelight. It made her blush to see him giving a slight smile. Then felt the mattress sinking in beside her and finally she completely took attention from her objects to lover's body beside her, in a matter of seconds he had stolen a kiss from her lips making giggle for a short mini- second.
"-How's the baby? You're already demonstrating that you're pregnant even if it's very small"
"-I'm a skinny idiot, obviously I won't be... Anyway, it's fine, I think, better than before when I told you. It's been making me vomit and feel hungry at the same time, has caused me exhaustion too. Uff... it's better worth it or I'll slit your throat when you're sleeping!" She said angry pointing the screwdriver at his face and he just laughed putting it down, he knew she wouldn't do that in the future, at least he hoped so.
"-It'll be fine, already do. You told me that you were happy to be a mother when we were looking at those little bright insects out there at night."
"-Hmmm I know! Stop refute me with my own words, wonder boy! But it's just, urgh, how can I hate something that's inside of me and comes from something I love so much? I mean, I'm not emotional or anything, I'm crazy...killer but... It kicked me!" She kept saying it was a fact, but at the same time she said things that made him admire her sometimes or be worried and surprised just like now.
"-Did they kick you? Why didn't you tell me before?"
"-You didn't ask, Dad!"
"-Hm, can I?"
He pointed to her small belly and she just laughed at him for being so stupid, soon settled back against the pillows after tossing everything to her side. She felt him instantly lie down against her skin rubbing his warm hand there too.
"-Hello? It's been a while...wait that's not how you talk to... forget it! It's your daddy, I don't know if you can hear me but know that I love you so much." The same said with shining eyes, Jinx felt a tightness in his heart, he was a good boy, so sweet, lovely ... she had some food by her side and that reminded her to take to eat.
"-I don't know if you know but your mom is amazing and smart even though she doesn't want to accept it, I hope you are too"
"-Hey! You are too and stop cursing the baby with my traits!"
"-But you're beautiful! I love you so much Pow"
"-Shut up..."
She mumbled making him laugh and he felt a kick in his hand which made smile even more, have his eyes shining with emotion. "-Oh, you liked that didn't you? She's Smarty or he's smarty? Hm I don't know but we'll know when you're born and regardless of that I'll love you. If you're a little girl you'll be a grand-"
"-Savior boy, just like his father. I imagine he'll be as much trouble as you are when little" He decided not to answer that, although she wasn't wrong but not right either, but he would let it pass, credits to her who was carrying that child.
"-If a princess, you'll be as beautiful as her, I'll teach you how to fly us hoverboards, oh I already love you so much" Jinx wanted to cry, why was he so sappy? And why did that make her want to explode with happiness? She hated and loved it in some way. Even more so that he was making her blush as he praised her.
"-I'll teach her how to shoot, maybe build some cool stuff..."
"-I know you will, my Doll. Who am I to stop you?"
"-The savior boy?"
"-It's your one and only..." He said dragging himself close to her face kissing her lovingly, she returned the same with same intensity.
"-I love you, jinx"
"-I love you too, Ekko... Can I lie on your chest today?"
He didn't even answer, just settled down on the bed and let her crawl into it, closing her eyes as he began to undo her braids. And that would be one of the slow but pleasant nights he would spend loving her and thinking about their future in silence while she slept.
