Be my Superstar!

Summary:

It was never easy being you, was it? Just trying to find a stable engineering job was hard enough; Now that you have it, it's a far cry from what you expected. Soon you find yourself getting caught up in robots' existential crises, a shady nightguard who seems way too obsessed with catching a child, and a murder-mystery-esque story that's all too real.

Your only saving grace is a very charming animatronic bear that's there to help. Hopefully, he'll treat you to a game of Fazer Blast one of these nights.

Notes:

Heh so I deleted my story and completely started from scratch. I can never stick with one thing. But I’m more proud of this one! I feel like it has a better/more captivating start. Like I said, I suck with the map layout so if I shit the bed on a few details I’m sorry. Please enjoy!

Chapter 1: On the Spot

Chapter Text

You had sat down not an hour before his words; “Well I must say, Miss ——, your resume is intriguing, albeit a bit exaggerated…” The thin, pale man looked up at you, beady eyes piercing your soul. You felt yourself shrink under his gaze. He sighed,

“Look, you’re lucky we’re so short on technicians here. You’ve never been employed by an actual robotics company, however it says here that your father worked on the Sister Location animatronics. Is this correct?” He looked expectantly at you.

“Yes sir, and my grandfather worked on the original crew…” Below the desk you were both seated at, your thumbs twiddled and leg bounced. You didn’t know if you could handle the pressure any longer. The man in front of you shuffled a few papers around before lightly tapping them on the desk. He placed them down gingerly, giving them a once-over. You both sat in silence for several moments.

“Well, I guess that gives you some sort of qualification,” he stuck his hand out at his words. “Welcome to the team, —-. I’m expecting you to start today.” His voice had a matter-of-fact tone to it. Your eyes widened, partly out of disbelief that you got the job, and partly due to the fact that you were starting today . You quickly brought up your hand to reciprocate the shake, and smiled sheepishly.

“Thank you, Mister Adrian,” you cursed mentally at how timid you sounded. “I won’t let you down.”

“We will see. You’ll start off with a tour given by the head robotics engineer, Miss Riley ,” he said as he reached below the desk. He handed you a button-up uniform with a pair of dark khakis. The shirt was navy blue with neon red and blue trim. It was tacky and looked cheap, but at least you had a secure job now. You stood up, nerves now settled a little, before quickly  exiting the manager’s office.

——-

When you exited, you saw a short brunette leaning up against the wall picking at her nails, wearing the same uniform you had just received. She heard the door click shut and her gaze snapped to you.

“Hey, you must be the new techie here. I’m Riley.” She gave you a small smile before continuing, “We don’t want to waste much time here, so I’ll do my best to get you situated. Follow me.”

For how short she was, she sure moved fast. Her legs carried her like it was nothing, and you found yourself struggling to keep up as she went over the ground floor. Your mind was already spinning, trying to wrap itself how absolutely massive this place is. You thanked the powers that be that you bumped into one of those unrelenting map bots.

“Now we’ll head to the first floor. This is where the atrium is, and where the animatronic’s rooms are. You’ll be doing small maintenance here. Any major problems will direct you to Parts and Service.” She said this so simply, so nonchalantly. As if she expected you’d worked here before and knew everything already. You opened your mouth to ask a question but she was already walking away. You groaned slightly and continued walking. She stopped right before the elevators, motioning to the right -

“That’s where the daycare attendant is located. Down the hallway you’ll see the entrance. You’ll be meeting him soon, hopefully.” She turned her back to you and continued on into the elevator, pressing the first floor button when you slid in. Soft music played in the background for a few moments before there was a ding, and the doors opened. Again, you gaped as you took in the sight. This was the main atrium, where the animatronics performed. And where the food was!

“So…where are the animatronics?” You turned to look at her, and she raised a brow.

“They’re in the back, weren’t you at least told this?” You shook your head. She sighed. “Alright, it’s no big deal. This is where you’ll be spending most of your time anyways. Lots of security bots are damaged here due to the kids, and since the crew’s rooms are behind the stage it’s convenient. Do you wanna go take a look?”

Of fucking course I do!

“U-uh, please.” You wish you could die right on the spot. Curse social anxiety. She continued on like nothing happened, leading you behind the stage where the neon lights were plentiful. Huge, colorful light shows of the Glamrock crew’s faces donned the far wall. You walked past their rooms, coming to stop before the gator’s.

“This is Montgomery Gator’s room, or Monty as we call him. You won’t be working on him, not now at least…” Her voice trailed off, but only for a moment. “He’s a bit of a handful and a tough guy. I’ll most likely be taking care of him, seeing as it’s us two and one other tech.” You could hear the exhaustion in her voice at those words. Was it really that bad?

Examining the room… well you saw nothing. His meet-n’-greet line was closed off and his curtains were drawn shut. There were practically no signs of life other than the banging you heard from within. You must’ve been so enveloped in this that you were only brought back by Riley tapping on you.

“Hey, let’s move on. To the left is Roxanne’s room. She’s most likely sleeping now, and you don’t want to wake her…” She paused, “believe me…. Anyways, let’s visit Chica. She’s to the right.”

“New voice?! I heard a new voice!” There was a flash of yellow like lightning, and before you could blink a giant chicken lady was standing in front of you.

“Chica! What did I say about being out of your room? And don’t scare the newbies!” Riley raised a finger, scolding her like a child. Chica paid no mind to her, being as she was completely fixated on you.

“Oh what beautiful eyes you have. What’s your name? Can you play the guitar? Sing? Oh, are you the new helper here?” She had the energy of a thousand children and you could already feel a headache forming. You raised your hands in surrender.

“Hey, hey. My name is —-, and I’m excited to meet you too, Chica.” You gave her a sheepish smile. She wasn’t that much taller than you but you were positive there was about 400 pounds of metal that could crush you in an instant. She gawked at you, absolutely infatuated.

“Ahhh I totally have to let Roxy know! We’re so excited to have another girlie here with us!” Riley seemed a bit taken aback and rolled her eyes. She grabbed your hand and led you away, waving off Chica.

“Chica, you’ve been a doll, but Miss —- has one more person to meet!” You heard Chica let out a noise akin to a whimper, but you paid no attention. Now this was exciting. Ever since you were little, you had always been a fan of Freddy. You didn’t know if it was because you loved teddy bears, or because you loved how he sang. Either way, you still have the keychain your grandfather gave you of the original Fazbear and cherish it like it’s gold. You were a bit nervous though. If Chica was that big, how big is this one?

Riley approached the giant glass window of his room and tapped her knuckles against it. You saw a singular, bright turquoise eye peer through, although not at you. It disappeared as quickly as it came, and you heard the door hinges decompressing as it opened. Freddy walked around the side of his room, and it was as if you saw God. Literally. His eyes were so bright they were blinding both you and Riley.

“My apologies! My room is dark, and I forgot your eyes are sensitive.” At that, his pupils dimmed and the blue of his eyes got even deeper. His gaze landed on you, getting a slight quirk of a brow out of him. He marched right up to you and bent down at the waist.

“Hmm…” A blue holographic light emitted from his eyes and scanned your face. Your face flushed. “I don’t recall ever seeing you here. In the database it says you are the new robotics technician.” He stood up straight, now standing at least a head or so higher than you. You came face-to-chest with him, causing you to crane your neck up to look. His mouth fell open a little, giving the impression of a widening smile. He offered a hand to you. All you noticed were the fangs.

“Well, it’s my greatest pleasure to welcome you to the Pizzaplex, Miss —-. I hope we make your stay here a good one!” You took his hand, and he shook it so fluidly you would’ve thought he was a human. And his fur was so soft. You didn’t want to pull back but you had to. Do they make Freddy rugs?

Something seemed to have gotten his attention because he was staring directly at your sternum. You looked down, just to see the Freddy keychain dangling from your lanyard. Oh… was this offensive to him? ‘Hey dude, here’s the original you were copied from.’

“May I?” He looked up at you, reaching out. You gulped.

“Uh, yeah. Sure.” And with your permission he delicately grabbed the chain between his pointer finger and thumb, lifting it to view it in better light. He chuckled.

“So, I’m guessing I am in the presence of a fan.” He winked. “You and I will get along just great, superstar!” He let the keychain fall as he turned to Riley.

“Miss Riley, it’s been a pleasure, but my batteries are running low. I hope you don’t mind me hurrying away to charge.” She nodded with a smile.

“No problem Freddy. Oh, and Miss —- will most likely be servicing you tomorrow. Go easy, okay? You don’t wanna scare her off now.” She turned back to you and her smile grew. What was going on here?

“Of course, and Miss ——,” he continued as he turned back to you. He gave a deep gentleman’s bow, tipping his hat. “Welcome to the family!”

You had a feeling that this Freddy was going to be your favorite by far.
