Summary
“Wait.” It slips out of Hawks’ mouth before he can stop it, panic bubbling up in his chest and popping when it constricts with another cough. His ears are ringing as he tries to give Dabi a reason to wait.
Dabi does wait for a moment, giving him a once over. “What?”
“I…” Hawks deflates, any follow up he might’ve had forgotten, aching head searching for anything to get Dabi to stay, even if it’s an apology. Instead, he says, “I don’t know,” and stands there stupidly as Dabi sighs.
“That’s what I thought. See ya. Maybe.” Dabi mutters before making his way down the fire escape. He peeks his head back in to add, “Or maybe I’ll lose your number.” before closing the window behind him.

Hawks comes home feverish and ill and Dabi's waiting for him.
