Chapter Text
Midoriya starts sobbing on the roof of the building that all might have left him on as his dream has just been destroyed. Kacchan’s words still ring throughout his head as the rain starts pouring down on him.
“If you wanna be a hero so bad, take a swan dive off the roof and pray you’ll be born with a quirk in the next life.”
“Keep dreaming, my boy, but don’t get your hopes up for a dream that cannot be accomplished, this is the reality that we live in.”
It hurts The world shifted every few seconds, and everything was a little darker than it should've been. Eyes were heavy, limbs like rocks. It felt pretty good to stay down on the ground, other than the rock under his spine. That was pretty annoying.
Of course, he knew that without a Quirk being a hero would be near impossible. Logically, he knew that. But he had always hoped that maybe there would be a way. But now that he’d finally had the chance to meet the man, the myth, the legend, the one, and only All Might and asked if it was possible…. It seemed like he’d been chasing false hope all along. It was like his world was shattering around him.
Izuku curled up on the pavement a little while longer. He wasn’t ready to think about going back out into the world after this. He could already hear Kacchan mocking him. He could see his mother crying all over again. He didn’t want to go back out and accept his life as the Quirkless cripple that was dumb enough to think he had a shot at being a Pro Hero.
A red card carried by the wind slowly makes its way to land in front of Izuku, he only glanced at it but it got his full attention. On the front it only said Reset
That font, that name, it was a name long forgotten by the hero society. It was the name of a famous vigilante that died on the job. Why is this here? Wiping the tears away he sits up and picks up the card, flipping it over. Behind the card were two things, a fingerprint and beside it was more text.
“In need of a new quirk? In need of a quirk? Hold your thumb on the fingerprint if you need a Reset” That last part was cheesy but this is impossible, there’s no way that someone has a quirk to give people quirks, right? In need of a new quirk? What does that mean? Can Reset switch people's quirks? I thought his quirk was to reset his position to 5 seconds in the past, setting his health and position to whatever they were at that time. Does he know someone that can transfer people’s quirk with another? But what if? What if a quirk like that actually exists, I mean there is someone who can see the future and someone who can erase a quirk temporarily. Can Reset actually help me? I mean I have nothing to lose, I was rejected by the number 1 hero and by this world.
Izuku holds his thumb over the fingerprint for a second, 30 seconds, 1 minute has passed, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes have passed and Izuku starts laughing to himself. It was worth a shot but it was too good to be true, he gets up and looks at the raining sky. Soaked in water, he starts heading home. At the very least this card made him forget what happened for a minute, made him forget the pain of this day. He shakes his head furiously, he doesn’t want to remember about this day.
Distracted by all his thoughts he bumps into someone, without even looking at the man Izuku just starts apologizing while bowing profusely. “Shh!!!!” Izuku looks up as the man takes out a business card and shows it to Izuku before walking into an alley.
Wait a second, hold on a minute. That card, it was the Reset card he found on the rooftop! He wanted to say something but he had this gut feeling that talking right now wouldn’t be a good idea.
He follows the man into the alley and once he did, he felt his body sink into his own shadow as the man covered Izuku’s mouth. Izuku screamed from the sudden event of sinking into his own shadow, so this was a trap to lure dumb kids like him. Thinking that he actually had a chance in life was funny.

He was in a room, it look like your typical business office. He was standing by the door, the man that covered his mouth let go of Izuku. There was a desk with a man sitting behind it, the man smirked.
Isn’t that! “Wait so this is real?! Are you the actual Reset!? I thought you died against that villain that can create clay soldiers! What happened to you! And do you actually have the power to transfer people’s quirks from one to another?! Isn’t your quirk reset? What are you doing now? Can you give quirkless people quirks!! And what about-!!!!” Izuku covers his mouth as he apologizes for his rambling
Reset laughs out loud before answering Izuku “Yes I am Reset; I faked my death since I had different plans and the heroes were getting annoying to deal with. Almost like a transfer to another person. No, my quirk is way different. Secret. Yes, why do you think in the business card it says if you need a quirk. Come and sit down”
Izuku listens to Reset and sits at one of the empty chairs. It was only 3 people in the room, Izuku, Reset, and the person that found Izuku.
“Let’s get cut to the chase Izuku, what kind of quirk do you want?” Reset asked
Izuku was startled since he never told him his name “How do you know my name?”
“I always do a background check before offering a hand to a new client” Reset sat back in his chair
“First I-I want you to answer a couple of questions Reset-sama”
“Ask away”
Fidgeting with his hands “I know this offer is too good to be true so what’s in it for you?”
“Well for my plan I need a lot of things so I offer my clients 3 ways to pay me back. With cash upfront or monthly, but it does get a bit pricey. You can work for me and I’ll take a cut of your paycheck. And finally, you can do some odd jobs for me”
I can’t even imagine the price for a quirk, maybe I can work for him… No, it will all be a mess if I try that. What does he mean by odd jobs?
“Can I see what quirks are available?”
Reset looks over to the man behind Izuku, Izuku watches as the man walks over to one of the drawers and pulls out a giant binder. The man places it on the desk and Reset nods to Izuku to take a look at it.
Once he opened it, it was like a Yu-Gi-Oh or any other trading card game binder but inside of those kinds of cards in the pockets. Izuku looks over to one of them. It was a red card, at the top was the name of the quirk. Beneath the name was the description of the quirk, at the very bottom it says flip me over for more details.
Amazing! This is amazing!
Izuku starts reading everything this binder has inside.
Fragile Time, when the Quirk is activated, time moves when you move. In your perspective, everything is as fragile as glass. Even people.
Oh, that's very interesting, so does that mean if I jump through a window or dodge bullets?
Izuku takes out the red card and flips it over to see more of the details.
You're also as fragile as glass. So if someone punches you hard enough, you could die… huh?
This Quirk is like a glass cannon, when you stop moving, time will also stop, as long as it's active everything will become fragile as glass including you… That’s too dangerous … For now, I’ll put it to the side, I still have to run through this entire binder first.
Izuku places it to the side and asks Reset if it's ok to put some of these cards to the side; Reset allowed Izuku and he continued sifting through the binder. Not long later Izuku found another one that caught his eyes. It was called Shift, you can switch the position with anything as long as you can see it regardless of the range. Izuku put that card to the side as well.
