Them

Summary:

Foolish has the Hanahaki disease.

Work Text:

A bundle of rose messily kept together with blood, tinted the clear water of the toilet bowl a light shade of red as Foolish couched his lungs out. At least that's what it felt like.

He tried to think on the bright side, At least the thorns stopped. He thought.

It started not too long ago but he put it aside because it was just a couching fit when it first started. Then came the petals, then the blood, then the thorns, then the full-on flowers. They grew parts of his body, which he tried his best to get rid of, and in his mouth and throat, they were harder to reach.

He quickly went to google but it was no help until he stumbled above a certain website. HanaHaki Disease the site called it. It didn't take long for him to understand what was happening and what was causing it.

None the less he wiped the blood off of his chin, cleared his mouth with water, and went outside. He hadn't done much in the past few weeks, it hurt to move for too long. He left his kids with Puffy. no one in Las Nevadas cared enough to look for him. His 'summer home' looked as if no one had been there for years.

He knew what was causing his pain, how to, hopefully, stop it but he couldn't. He just couldn't risk it. It was his own worry and self-doubt keeping him from living and he knew it.

He decided to take a walk. Yea, a walk should clear his mind, for now at least.

He started to walk into a forest that had been growing new trees for what seemed like every day now. He got lost in the sound of the animals, some close some far, in the trees and on the ground making noises. Every noise seemed like it fit perfectly together. He stopped walking for a moment and closed his eyes, enjoying the sound.

Everything seemed good for a moment before there was a sound that didn't seem to fit but at the same time, it was perfect. Someone, no, two people laughing.

He went to investigate the noise, following the laughter that slowly got louder and louder.

He stooped a safe distance away from the people making. His dear friends, Sam and Ponk. tey seemed to be on a romantic date in a clearing in the forest. He sat down silently against a tree, his lungs filling up again.

How poetic. He thought.

They looked to be having the best time of their life.

How beautiful. He thought.

He let the flowers consume him, he knew he couldn't fight it forever.

How loving. He thought.

Tears ran down his face.

How ironic. He thought

He smiled. flowers on one corner of his mouth and eye.

The laughter never stopped, filling his mind as he closed his eyes.

Them. He thought.
