Spiteful

Summary:

Michael didn't think it should've taken this long to die. He should've long been gone after the fire, but it seemed like his soul was still stuck in the Pizzeria. It really shouldn't have been a surprise that the same would happen to his father. Now he's stuck in a Freddy suit trying to protect a child that looks way too much like Evan for his liking.

(OR: Michael's soul never left the Pizzeria after the fire. When a new animatronic was brought down by the girl in the bunny mask for the purpose of giving William a new body he could've left it alone. Of course, he didn't leave it alone and instead possessed the animatronic himself. Now he's protecting Gregory from murderous animatronics.)

This is basically me trying to shape MatPat's theory that came out on January 1st into a story that kinda makes sense. Enjoy :)

Chapter 1: Michael's Limbo

Chapter Text

Michael should've been dead. That was a fact. He should've died when he got his organs scooped out by Ennard. He should've died when he set the place on fire. But he didn't die. He never dies. (Like his father) How come he gets to keep coming back to life when it should have been his siblings? They died because of him and his stupid and naive actions. But instead he was the one who 'lived' in their place. Everyone knew that they deserved it so much more than he ever would.

He knew the technicalities of why he was even here when the fire should've obliterated his soul. He still didn't think he deserved it and he definitely didn't like it. According to Uncle Henry, the scooper was filled with a thing called 'Remnant'. It was made from the agony of souls. Michael didn't like it at all. Especially the soul thing. He was relatively fine with his insides being scooped out. Sure it hurt, but he deserved it. He doubted it hurt more than either being killed inside a robot's stomach or getting his head chomped on. However, it was also keeping him alive despite him obviously being dead. So now his soul was stuck in the restaurant that he had tried to burn down. Theoretically, it should just be until the 'Remnant' goes away, and it was going away very slowly. He didn't know how long it had been. He stopped counting way after the first 2 days. It could've been that a century passed and he still wouldn't know the difference.

It was honestly kind of lonely.

Michael couldn't feel a thing. He couldn't see, hear, feel, smell, or taste. It was like he was in a corpse all over again. Except then he still had his senses. They were faint but they were still there. Now, he was quite literally a ghost. A ghost of his former self. It was like he was stuck in his own personal limbo. He was in this black void where he was powerless against everything thrown at him. He could barely reassure himself that he was there half of the time. It was like he knew where and when he was, but it was some strange concept that no matter how hard he tried he couldn't grasp it. There were some days where he couldn't remember himself. Those days were the worst. He was left on his own with the most dangerous part of himself. His mind. Sometimes, Michael thought that this was his own personal hell.

The only thing Michael that helped Michael even have a slither of humanity was that he could "feel" was the others' souls. He could feel the 'Remnant' inside of Molten Freddy. He could feel Elizabeth's grieving and terrified soul. Most importantly, he could feel William's mischievous and plotting soul. It was weird, though. Sometimes it felt like William was there, but he wasn't ALL there. Like some part of William was here, another was in hell, and another was somewhere else plotting something. He didn't know what William was plotting but he did know that it was important and, knowing him, murderous. He didn't like that at all. He didn't know what he could do to stop it, though. He spent days planning. Trying to remember the layout of the restaurant and get to William so he could make him stop. He knew it would be a useless plan, and that he was just distracting himself before he was pulled into his actual hell.

Michael eventually bitterly accepted that until he actually died he would have to stay in this hell, but when he did sense another soul and some new 'Remnant' entering the building he jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately, it seemed like he wasn't the only one with this idea. He could practically feel William's excitement at it. Did he plan on entering the animatronic? (It only made sense for it to be an animatronic. What else could it be?) Michael couldn't let that happen. Michael couldn't let William be let out in the world anymore than he has been. He's stopped William's plans before, he can stop them now. Now he just had to find the animatronic and somehow possess it. He was not looking forward to it. If it made kids murderous and vengeful when they possessed the animatronics what would happen to him? He hoped nothing. After all, he wasn't murdered and it would be his own choice to enter the animatronic.

That was it.

Michael would possess the animatronic and stop William's plan, or at least delay it. Michael hoped to all the gods he didn't believe in that this would work. Slowly, with all of Michael's remaining strength he floated?walked? over to the 'Remnant' he felt. There were sometimes that the 'Remnant' felt faint and each time it made Michael fear that he had been too late. Michael spent a few minutes looking around for it until he had finally found it. He breathed in and out before leaning closer and closer to the 'Remnant'. At first, he could feel it resisting but Michael never gave up and he could feel his soul being sucked in to the animatronic. Everything fell dark after.

Vanny had no idea why Glitchtrap had asked for Glamrock Freddy. He said something about his soul needing a body. Which first of all - weird. Second of all, Vanny could feel something in her brain begging her not to do this. It was dangerous they said. It would hurt people they said. So, Vanny agreed. Which lead to her current predicament. Half-way through getting there Freddy stopped and looked distant but angry? Then he just dropped to the ground with a loud thud. Vanny was confused. She didn't feel Glitchtrap in the circuit board, so she assumed that he had somehow possessed Freddy causing him to shut down. It was enough for her. She couldn't wait until Glitchtrap made his plane a reality. Not that she knew what the plan was, but as long as children died it wasn't like she cared. NO! You have to stop him! He was weak! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!

William was excited. He had escaped the hell that Cassidy had created for him when he escaped the virtual game via Vanny. He didn't think he it would work as well as it worked. He does feel slight pity for Jeremy. He supposed that getting his head sliced off had to hurt him. Oh well. It was just a test anyway. He had made sure that Springtrap was in a decent condition and still in the charging station, so that if anything went wrong he would be decent for the time being. Now, he was finally going to get out of the disgusting Springtrap and into the new animatronic. He had been waiting for this day for decades. Except, it never happened. He could hear and see Glamrock Freddy approaching him before falling to the ground with a thud. Had someone else got to him before him? That wasn't possible. Everyone here would have been in an animatronic already. Except Michael. But Michael wasn't aware of his plans. Did he just want to get out that bad? Oh dear. It seemed like he was so similar to his father.
